We are posting the fatten your wallet play very early this week. That is because we love this play no matter what happens from here till Sunday. The topic is 4-0 thus far...we got a late start and did not post it the 1st 3 weeks. But since week 4 we have won 4 in a row.Let`s make it 5-0 with this fatten your wallet play.

I don`t have a personal write up...

I will post the game notes.

REDSKINS OFFENSE VS. GIANTS DEFENSE

Washington running back Clinton Portis heads into Sunday's game with 4,958 yards in 50 career games, and needs 42 to tie Jamal Lewis for the fifth- fastest to 5,000 all time. Portis' teams are 19-7 when he rushes for 100 yards. The former Miami (FL) standout has averaged 108.5 yards per game in two all-time meetings with the Giants. On the season, Portis has run for 544 yards and three touchdowns on 123 carries - a 4.4-yard per carry average, and comes off a 101-yard, three-touchdown effort against the 49ers. Washington is fourth in the league in rushing offense (139.8 yards per game) heading into Sunday's game.

The Giants have been a sieve for opposing running backs thus far, ranking 12th and 13th in the NFC in yards per game and yards per attempt, respectively. New York has been gashed for 116 yards per game and 4.3 yards per carry. In the Giants' Week 7 defeat of Denver, Broncos running back Mike Anderson went for 120 yards on 24 carries (5.0 average) while Tatum Bell sprang for 60 yards on eight attempts (7.5 average). New York is currently 21st in NFL rushing defense (116 yards per game). Washington is eighth in NFL passing offense (247.3 yards per game).

Brunell (1492 passing yards, 12 TD, 2 INT) scored one for the over-30 set with his effort against the Niners, continuing a stretch in which he's thrown two or more TDs in five straight starts and has a 100-plus QB rating and three TD passes in each of his last two. Brunell has only thrown two interceptions in 2005, which is tied for third-fewest in the NFL. Wideout Santana Moss (38 receptions, 5 TD) played home games at Giants Stadium for four seasons with the New York Jets. Moss has caught 38 passes for a league-best 743 yards and five touchdowns, and had five catches for 112 yards and a score against the 49ers last Sunday.

New York has surrendered 295.8 yards per game via the pass and a 64.7 completion percentage through six games. The yardage total places the Giants 15th in the 16-team NFC. Defensive end Michael Strahan has 123.5 career sacks and needs 3.5 to pass Derrick Thomas for 10th in league history. He has 15 sacks in his career versus Washington, his second-highest total against any team (Philadelphia, 18.5). Linebacker Antonio Pierce (50 tackles, 1 INT), who spent four seasons with the Redskins and led the club in tackles last year, will be facing his former team for the first time. The Giants are a distant 31st in the league in passing defense (295.8 yards per game).

GIANTS OFFENSE VS. REDSKINS DEFENSE

Ninety more rushing yards for New York running back Tiki Barber (483 rushing yards, 13 receptions, 5 TD on the year) will put the 2004 Pro Bowler over the 7,500 career mark, something no Giant has ever done. Barber also has 45 career rushing touchdowns, needing four to tie Rodney Hampton for the club record. Barber ran for 86 yards on 19 carries and scored once in the win over the Broncos last Sunday. Fueled by Barber's running, the G-Men are 17th in the league in rushing offense (108.5 yards per game).

The Redskins are ninth and 11th in the NFC, respectively, in terms of rushing yards per game and yards per play. Gregg Williams' unit has allowed 108.5 yards per game through six games, 15th-best in the NFL, and a per-carry average of 4.2. Frank Gore of San Francisco put up numbers - 89 yards on nine carries - in Washington's big victory, but the stats fail to mention that 72 of the yards came on one play when the Redskins led, 52-10, with 2 minutes to play.

He hasn't gotten there yet, but more and more the younger Manning is beginning to produce like his older brother. Eli has tossed at least one TD pass in seven straight games, posting 15 touchdowns and only five interceptions in that span. His 6.2 touchdown percentage (12 touchdowns in 194 passes) is third-best in the NFL. Manning completed 23-of-42 passes against the Broncos for 214 yards and two touchdowns against one INT. The Ole Miss product's favorite target in 2005 has been wideout Plaxico Burress (36 receptions, 5 TD), with tight end Jeremy Shockey (25 receptions, 3 TD) making an impact as well.

Washington has allowed 157.5 passing yards per game and just a 56.2 percent completion rate through six games, both among the conference's best. The yardage rating, in fact. is first in the NFC and fourth overall in the league. Redskins defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin, who spent four seasons with the Giants, is ranked fourth among NFL interior linemen with three sacks. The Redskins sacked rookie Alex Smith five times and allowed only eight completions for 92 yards in the Week 7 rout. The Redskins have just 10 sacks on the year.

Yes..the fatten your wallet play is the...

Washington Redskins +2

Look for them to work on the Giant defense
with the pass and run..all day long.

SOUL TRAIN I also loved the Skins this week..

SOUL TRAIN I also loved the Skins this week..

but here in NY the buzz in the papers and sports talk radio seems to be that the Giants have dedicated this game to Mara. This may not mean anything but it may be enough to persuade me to be a no play or go lighter. Thanks for Picks over the last few weeks.

Soul, you've hit the proverbial "nail on the head". The wrong team is favored here.

I posted my similar views in another thread, so I won't belabor the point, but with the 'skins starting to hit on all cylinders and the Giants being the highest scoring team in football, I slipped in a bet on the over also. 42 pts. in this game....should hit late in the 3rd qtr.

I've taken the rubberband off my roll, broken open the kids piggy-bank and played this game every way imaginable.....I even keyed it to "Lost in the Fog" in Sundays Juvenile Sprint.... :mj07:

i'm playing nyg, but on a sidenote.... why dont you bet 220 to win 200 instead of 200 to win 190.48, it looks cleaner that way

I never thought of it being dirty :)

Be very careful betting the Giants on Sunday.

Give it a 2nd thought.

its a homer bet, i'm a giants fan, but i think with the home field and the emotional funeral for mara etc the giants pull it out.

dede, i didnt know post count had anything to do with handicapping games, but you have more posts than me so i'll defer to you :Yep:

No disrespect towards your capping ways..
I don`t buy into the Mara emotional factor
But i will say...be careful with the Homer plays.
The Skins to me look like the more complete team
on both sides of the ball.
I learned my lesson many years ago...
Bet with your HEAD not your HEART.

It should be a good one....

i think the game will go somewhat like the chiefs/redskins game went. the redskins will move the ball for a lot of yards, but the giants will cause some turnovers and win it in the end. giants are 2nd in the league in creating turnovers.

The Giants are overrated...they are just garbage
on the defensive side of the ball. The Giants will not make the playoffs in the end.

The Skins should be able to take care of business against this Giant team.In my opinion the Giants are pretenders..terrible defensive team. The Skins look like a playoff team to me.Playing very well on both sides of the ball.Portis should shred this Giant run defense big time.I hope that i am right. :)

as a long time giants fan..i think you're on the right side...

wash. has the #2 offense & the #4 defense..while the giants have the $15 offense & #31 defense in the league......

i wouldn't be surprised if wash. won't be in the super bowl this year....

good luck.
