Stuman,
Do you really believe we are piling on his case for the hell of it?
Not you specifically, but, yes! When I first replied to this post the only other reply was from ctownguy, who added nothing other than animosity toward Scott, which I feel could have been left out. Every time Scott posts there are several posts just like that. It becomes tiresome to read that stuff when everybody
should know what Scott is about from the jump. Just can't see why his love for SC causes so much hatred.
I think you have been vocal about it because you too, see Scott for the homer he is and you want no part of it.
Again, yes! But, I also think some of his opinions are dead on! I can appreciate that w/o making a point to call him out for going overboard w SC info. Scott shares my opinion that the Pac 10 is a stronger conf than most people give it credit for, and he posted alot of info to support that opinion. I, personally, cant find a reason to disrespect the man after he has done something that I feel has helped me. I would stand up & defend you as well, if I felt you were being attacked unfairly, now that you have shown me some respect.
You seem to be every bit as pro-USC as Scott.
In my earlier reply, I stated that I took pride in a few kids at SC who I thought went to my old HS -- turns out they are all from my hometown, but only one went to my alma mater. I grew up in southern CA, & its actually easier for me to get info on SC, UCLA, Cal & Stanford than my Huskies. Had a boss who was a UW grad, but we no longer work together so my info sources are limited right now. Dont have the time, or hunger, to search the net for info. More than happy just to watch the games & make my own value judgments when the season rolls around.
Scott,
Also, wanted to say this when I found out that Whitney Lewis went to St Bonaventure. It has been a truism in my hometown that the big time athletes who attend the smaller high schools usually dont pan out because they dont face anybody of like talent in those 2A schools, which are private schools who recruit some of their athletes -- the rest are just rich kids playing for the fun of the game. I've seen so many hoop & football players from Santa Clara & St Bonnie get plenty of hype for dominating at the high school level, but the better talent (in Oxnard at least) is usually at the bigger schools OHS, Hueneme & Channel Islands. I'll keep my eye out for Lewis, but, I thought last yr, w the way Carroll likes to play freshmen, that he would have got some playing time. I'm afraid he might turn out to be another one of those over rated players who played against weak comp & cant make it when they have to play w the big boys. All of my comments are made having never seen the kid play, so take them w a grain a salt.
