Everyone has their home team, the one they know everything about and cheer for every week. They also know when they are giving or getting to many points. This thread will be devoted to capping your favorite team for the week and helping those that are not as close to the program. If you really do not like either team then please do not pick one. It will work on a majority basis. If 3 ND fans take part and 2 select Mst. this week then Mst. will be the play. We will make all plays one unit. Cut off time will be 11am est on sat. I will post the lines so all will be the same, we will go on said posted lines so no confussion. If anyone has a suggestion let me know. Please be sure to make clear who you team is, and also who you are picking. Lets get started.

florida atlantic will make us money all season long. they have covered and won out both games thus far including a tough win in hawaii as 3 touchdown dogs. they are getting 3 sat and should win again. they play every game with the thought that they should win. they expect to win no matter who they play.

UGA -18 vs Marshall

I will start this by selecting the Bulldogs -18 for sat. Marshall comes to town after losing to troy and ohio st. by a combined 5 points. This alone will have many thinking that 18 points is a gift. The problem is that the two teams that have played UGA so far have done a good job of runing the ball and for the most part defending the pass. Marshall averages 2.2 yards a rush and gives up 16.5 yards per reception. That is not good when playing a georgia team whos run defense has been suspect, but will air it out anytime with a couple of all conference type recievers. In all I look for a 35-10 type of game, if anything worse than that, but my money will stay out of the trap and on UGA.

Clemson is a close call, but I have been talked into taking the Tigers

As someone who spent 3 years in Athens (law school), I love that UGA play -- Marshall also has Miami Ohio on deck.

Illinois -9 vs W michigan

its possible Beutjer will start for the Illini, but I keep hearing he won't. Illinois is looking for their first win against a Div 1 conference in over 13 games. I believe they should cover this game. Illinois got burned a bit last week by their turnovers which resulted into 17 pts. also losing Beujer for the second half didn't help much either, but red shirt freshman Bower stepped up nice. W Michigan lost last week 63-0 vs Va Tech. I understand Illinois isn't va tech, but they should win by about 20, with their run game

Could be a scary week for Buckeye Country.......but what week isnt?

The Buckeyes are -7 in the turnover department so far this year. That is going to improve. A defensive team like OSU is going to force their share of turnovers. However, this years version will commit lots more turnovers as QB Justin Zwick has a rocket arm, but still learning college football.

I honestly think that the Buckeyes come out of Raleigh with a win, and if I were an NC State bettor, I would be extremely cautious as it seems that EVERYONE is on the Wolfpack this week.

I may make a very moderate play on the Buckeyes this week......not because I am convinced they will win, but because I am going against the public.

USC -26.5 vs BYU

BYU runs a very difficult defensive scheme and last year the USC OL had trouble adjusting to it. Carroll said he studied it in summer but remember this is still a new and inexperienced OL. Only one of these lineman faced BYU last year and BYU played USC TOUGH last year.

BYU also has a mobile QB and mobile QB's seem to always, i repeat ALWAYS give USC trouble.

Since the game is @BYU and it is a hostile environment and the BYU team and coaches have been preparing all summer to play USC. Someone on the USC message board knows a 2nd string OL and he said that the whole team has been preparing non stop for this USC game and BYU will throw the book at USC. I think there is "some" value in BYU +26.5 but USC easily could win by 40pts. Carroll WILL play backups/subs on defense in 2h which could translate to backdoor BYU cover but then again USC "might" try and pad Leinarts TD completions as well.

One things I know for sure. BYU is a LOT better team than the team that lost to Stanford. BYU beat themselves in that game and I am pretty confident BYU will put out a 100% effort and play great football.

USC is still a very very young and inexperienced team so playing AT BYU could be a challenge. Although playing V-Tech for opener was supposed to be one of the loudest stadiums ever with so many Hokies and structure of Fed Ex field. Much louder than @Auburn and @Kansas St etc. according to many USC fans.

Remember, USC is not just trying to win the game or look good, but they are preparing for CAL. USC will not show a lot but might force different types of things they normally might not. For example if USC can pound the ball for 6+ yards a carry, USC WILL NOT RUN THE BALL because USC needs to get there young WR's experience in order to beat CAL.

oregon state -12.5 the beavers have lost two games on the road a heartbreaker at lsu and then at boise st. now coming home to play the lobos which they killed in the las vegas bowl last year and held them to 6 yrds rushing and they lost their qb and the new qb is a soph getting his fiorst road start in corvalis and the beavers are dying to get a win this one should be money in the bank

I am a diehard UNC Tarheel....and lately...in football...i've been doing just that...dying hard every week. 8.5 points from Georgia Tech just doesnt seem like enough even though we are at home. The line stinks to me. I think Georgia Tech comes in with a Clemson-win hangover and wins this game late by less than 7.

I follow Syracuse sports religiously. Today I think they go down hard at home vs. Cincinnati.

I posted it as a POY earlier in the week when line was Cincy -1. It is up to -3 now.

For SU to be competitive in this one they will have to show major improvement in the o-line. wr's, qb, secondary, punt protection, and most of all, coaching.

Coach P has been totally unprepared for first two games. Had no plan on how to attack Buffalo defense, which as we all know, is liking attacking butter with a hot knife.

Expecting 15-20,000 empty seats which negates some of the advantage in the dome. Advantage usually comes from noise level when you get 49,000 screamers in the building. i expect 30,000 boo birds today.

Duke +28 might be the play..

Hokie have NC state on deck and Duke showed some fight VS Uconn last week.
Imoh and other receiver are still suspended for Tech and Beamer will be happy to run the ball get a nice 21 point lead..

Push it out and play the second and third string to win a 35-14 game

This game has back door on it more than Richard Simmons at a NAMBLA convention..

Maybe the 22,000 - 30,000 Hawkeye fans in Sun Devil stadium will fuel the home team, but I wouldn't make ASU a best bet to deliver a comeuppance to the Hawkeyes.
