Doing things a bit different as I already made a few wagers that I felt had some value. So many games to cap, so little time.

Thurs.

FIU/Tulane Under 57'..... 6 u*I was looking at FIU +2 but really like the Total here more. Butch Davis is doing wonders with the team and the Defense is loaded. Golden Panthers have 8 returning starters on D and the secondary is expected to have a big year. They need to get better at putting pressure on the QB but it's been a point of emphasis in the off-season. Tulane HC Willie Fritz also has some returning talent and they hired a new Off coordinator to try and inject some life into an anemic off....... Still, I expect their identity will continue to keep things on the ground with RB Darius Braswell (1,134 yards) and another returner. Bottom line is I don't expect much of a pass attack from either team and think this one will be tight without cracking 50.

So Dakota St +13.......6 u *Jackrabbits made it to the Semis last season before getting bounced and despite losing their record setting QB Taryn Christian to graduation, the film I saw on redshirt Frosh J'Bore Gibbs was very impressive and he will run. The key here is that 5 WRs that were prominent in last years success are back and most of the O-L too...... The majority of the Defense returns also....... Jackrabbits won't be intimidated by the Big 10 Heavy Hitter. HC PJ Fleck has really done a great job with the Golden Gophers and was able to lure 4 Star DT from Georgia.... He manages to do a lot considering Minnesota doesn't have much of a local recruiting base and the state is surrounded by Prairie and grasslands, which isn't appetizing to many Top Tiered Athletes.... I'm a huge Minnesota Viking fan so hate bucking the State but this game could come down to the wire and wouldn't shock me to see the first major upset.

Penn St -40.......5 u *I may make this a 10 u play as I really expect Vandals to get rolled here..... In 2018, Vandals lost to Florida 63-10, Fresno 13-79, Idaho St 62-28 and went 4-8 despite shifting to the FCS. Obviously, Nittany Lions have major question marks at QB with the departure of Tracy McSorley, but this is still a top tier Big 10 team playing against an FCS opponent. The Defense will be strong, and I don't know if Vandals can score in this one....James Franklin lost some talent and it will be a work in progress, but think the pot is light...... Oh yeah, I had a crazy dream that Penn St won 48-0 (*I have never lost a bet when I dreamed the score....... Doesn't happen often, but when it does its money 💵.

Couple of other bets I'm on already,

Kent St TT Over 19......5 u
Texas St TT Over 12'.......5 u
Kansas St -22'.........5 u

Denver Post today had their prep preview. They are picking Valor #1 again. No McCaffery kid this year but dad as coach again. The Sawchuck is super fast back and they have 6-7 275 tackle is a four star rated recruit. No proven QB. Cherry Creek, Columbine & Pomona will be right up there also.

Pumped when I saw your post. Your NCAAM games generated a bankroll for NCAAF and will put me in vegas in a few weeks. Insight is much appreciated.

Completely agree with your assessment on MN not being a huge draw for top HS kids.

Fleck is inclined to recruit nationally and has a tough time getting them here. I believe last year MN HS Seniors had 23 DI offers, compared to 157 in TX and 183 in FL. Georgia and California #'s are just as strong, but I can't seem to find them.

Ironically, there are a significant # of MN kids on the SDSU and NDSU rosters that contribute to their successful programs. Thus, there will be a lot of energy at TCF Bank Stadium Thursday night with jackrabbits and fans from the Twin Cities with a chip on their shoulder. Don't think the Gophers are real anxious to see NDSU anytime soon either.

Weird, thought there was one more McCaffrey in the pipeline....... Looks like the usual suspects....... Minus Mullen? I will be keeping an eye on the State... Gl this weekend.

Fleck has done an admirable job recruiting there...... At least they have pretty good facilities... One of these days I need to fly in and watch a Vikings game (bucket list) before I'm 6ft under.... Good luck to you this weekend.

Riff-Raff: You must have influence with the football gods, your selection on the FIU/Tulane under 57 1/2, score was 56 with 4:44 remaining in the 3rd with a whole quarter to go, and not a single point was scored thereafter. Unreal.
So glad you are posting this year. Best of Luck for the Season.

Running late today and thought I wasn't going to see any HSF lines at all this weekend, which sucked because I had capped all the Thurs night games early in the week, then nada lines posted...... Oh well, busy weekend for the books..

*Sorry, no time for write ups, but I capped these games hard..

St Josephs Prep (PA) -8'
Marietta GA 59

**Rare 3 Unit play on the Over here....... Game starts soon but love this total....... Marietta Blue Devils have 7 players ranked in the Top 100 and speed all over the field........ Marietta opened last week by beating in State power Rome (48-14) handing Rome its first loss since 2015....... Speed kills

St Joseph Prep comes in from PA with recently winning the Class 6A State Title..... Game should be a good one as the QB Kyle McCord (6'3" 205 lbs) is only a Soph but he's already committed to Ohio St (he's the 5th highest rated player in PA...... The team is under a new HC Tim Roken, but he's been the Offensive Coordinator for the past 9 years, and now that the HC from previous years is gone he gets to implement a new system and philosophy which calls to pass, pass, and pass some more..
... He has some pretty good athletes to pass to which includes WR Marvin Harrison Jr *if you don't recognize the name you might want to pick capping another sport 🙄

Get some: 3 units on Over 59

2units on Home team Marrieta +8'

Don Bosco Prep
St Johns Bosco - 37'

*i didn't see a Total but the chalk is heavy on St John and we know for a fact that Bosco will win this game.......

Don Bosco Prep has name recognition, and I love the mascot, IRONMEN .... They won the National Championship in 2009 & 2011 but the program has stepped back a few steps and was bounced in the State Semis last year 35-17 which prompted the school to change things up and hired the new HC Dan Sabella to get things moving back to where the program was accustomed to... He brings in respect, integrity, and winning as he recently won a State Title at Paramus Catholic in 2016.....Hes saying all the right things and the kids seem to have bought in. He's had great success at some of the public schools in the State and only recently made the jump to the Private school sector.... Every program he's coached at has won...... In the heyday of Don Bosco and its immense success under former HC Greg Toal, he admitted to watching the program and admiring it from afar..... He has an overall 128-68 career record but one must consider that he some of those losses were from the birthing stages of implementing his way.... Success has always been an end product........ Players say that he has brought a new mentality and after a rough 6-5 fall last year, players like the edge he brings....... No doubt these kids will play hard for him....

The Don Bosco program has seen a new HC in the last 3 of 4 years, but the tradition continues, even if there has been recent setbacks.... Sabella brings a toughness and appears to understand the climate of the Private, Catholic Football in the State... He wants his kids to play nasty, intense, and physical with their opponents....... Like I mentioned, the players seem to have bought in, but the larger issue is that these top tiered schools lose valuable talent to other schools considered to be equals......... This is where transfers can decimate programs and the kids that are looking for National exposure jump from one school to the next to insure their chances of playing at the next level, hopefully on full ride scholarships....... Don Bosco plays in a very competitive league that includes teams like Gonzaga, Paramus Catholic, Bergen Catholic, and St Joseph's Regional...... I have no doubt Sabella will turn this program around quickly.... He has tremendous talent base in the area and I wouldn't be shocked to see 10 top transfers come in by next year........ Don Bosco will again be feared in the "Big 6" and kids that are 3-4 Stars talent will be coming in........ The exposure is the right thing to do..........

HOWEVER, flying across the United States to play the #3 team in the Country on National TV isn't going to end well.... And not recommended...

St John Bosco leveled Dematha last week and played a very inconsistent game..... I don't believe Don Bosco is near the strength of Dematha, at least not at this time........ *If you want my write up on St John Bosco, look at my last week's thread.... I actually took Dematha last week, but the Braves were too much even considering all the issues I saw that included, penalties, timing, sloppiness, laziness, etc......... Don't think Braves will be in a good mood, and my buddy in LA who keeps his fingers on the pulse all schools in the Trinity League, said that HC Jason Negro was displeased with the effort against the Stags and there has been a week of very hard practice........ He expects tonights team to be a better, more polished product.......

I think we will know exactly what is going to happen after the 1st quarter.... The big problem for a team like Don Bosco, is that man for man they are outclassed in just about every position...... Unfortunately, Bosco and Jason Negro aren't going to have a lot of sympathy for a fellow salesian charism....... Ironmen last played in CA in 2005, winning a OT game against Mission Viejo 28-25.......

Lay the wood..

Well the Marietta/St Joseph's game didn't get near the Over as too many dropped balls and when your Center gets hurt in high school football, it tends to hurt the rhythm... The end of the game was fun though and Marietta pulls out the W......

St Johns Bosco handled Don Bosco handily but gave up the back door cover... Ouch....

Wasn't really enamored with the College Card last night, so finished my capping and got some good rest to head out and watch football in Reno..... Gl to all.

FBS Plays:

Boise St +6'...... 6 u...... *FSU is simply not the same football program as the days when Bobby walked the sideline. 5-7 Rec ly didn't cut it and the programs fall from grace is penetrating HC Taggert and his staff......I'm sure more than one alum pulled him over in the off season to remind him that Semen-noles shot blanks ly and was first time the proud program hadn't gone bowling since 1981.....The Defense is good but the Offense has some major question marks and giving the starting nod to James Blackman has already drawn critics that expected Wiscy transfer Alex Hornibrook to lead...... The glaring weakness is the O-Line and I think we will see some timing and execution issues.... Boise won't be intimidated and makes a habit of playing the Power Conf members tough. If Boise gets a lead, it will be interesting to see how Seminoles respond. Boise Def returned 7 starters and returns 10 of last years Top 13 tacklers...... I played the Under first half too.......... But noone should be surprised if Broncs leave Florida with a W...... Oh yeah, the game is in Jacksonville (neutral) not Tallahassee. Evidently the game is now back in Tallahassee, but still don't trust Seminoles here

Northwestern +6'.......7 u *Seems like every one forgets that NW won the Big 10 West ly and despite the offense struggling at times, QB Hunter Johnson (transfer from Clemson) has some solid WRs to pass to...... 🎄 Trees had to replace a lot of offense, RB Bryce Love and the 3 top WRs are on to the NFL...... The Oline is a concern as is the offensive skill positions with young, inexperienced players learning on the fly....... Wildcats return a large share of their Defense and think they walk out of Palo Alto with a WIN. **Considering a play on the Under too.

East Carolina +16'..........10 u *I don't think we will see deja vu from the Wolfpack (55 point drubbing) as the Pirates new HC Mike Houston did wonders at JMU and his no nonsense, physical style should have Pirates playing a better brand of futball.... NC St is starting a Redshirt Soph QB who played sparingly ly and HC Dave Doeran is 1-2 career vs East Carolina. There is a radio tape with Pirates new skipper actually telling bettors to bet on the Pirates and grab the points.... So why not? I fell asleep and missed the early number at +20' but the fact that the number has dropped precipitously tells me that I like my chances.

Auburn -3 (bought a point)....... 8 u..... If you have followed my picks in football you know my disdain for the PAC 12 Conf and I have made a nice retirement betting against the PAC 12 in the Bowl Games........ I don't share the hype surrounding Oregon and there is no way I can back them going to a hostile stadium in SEC land....... In fact, it was ballyhooed Washington Huskies last year at #6 in the nation that crossed path with the Tigers on a neutral site and Tigers shut the talking heads up.....yes, I realize it's a little sacrilegious to offer no support since I live in PAC 12 land or close to, but frankly I'm so tired of listening to the over-hype machin machine of Justin Herbert and hope we see Tigers Defense separate the men from the PAC 12.

Da Rest of my early stuff:

Syracuse -18 over Liberty

Boston College +4 over VTech.... 5 u

Louisville +20' over Notre Dame..... 8 u *could be a bumpy road for Irish that lost a lot to the Draft...... Games not in So Bend.

Alabama -35 over Duke...... 6 u *I believe Dan Jones is in the NFL now

Fresno St +13 over USC.... 6 u *See reasoning for Ducks.... Although I do like JT Daniel's.

EMU -6 over Coastal Carolina ..... 5 u

Iowa/Miami (OH) Under 47'........5 u

E Carolina/NC St Under 52.5.....5 u

SMU/Arkansas St Over 56.........7 u

Memphis/Ole Miss Over 64'.......7 u

Akron/Illinois Over 61......5 u

Georgia/Vandy Under 58.....6 u

You are so right about the PAC 12 being so weak. I wasted money on UCLA and their Qb was 8 for 26 w 2 fumbles and 2 ints.
Auburn game in Texas tonight at 7:30 whether that makes a difference or not.

FCS Smorgasbord......

Howard +29'*10 u *Lots of questions and trepidation about the outlook for Terps...... New HC Locksley will be under a microscope and the questions surround why Matt Canada didn't get the job despite taking the Terps to a 5-7 record during the DJ Durkin debacle. Actually, Locksley was interim Coach back in 2015 and went 1-5.......when he was at New Mexico he was 2-26 which doesn't inspire confidence if you are a Terps fan........ Another question is that transfer QB Josh Jackson is getting the start over incumbent Tyrrell Pigrome, which has lead to some hard feelings. Jackson is a decent QB and was starting for the Hokies before busting his leg *something that the Terp program has been snakebit with...... If the injury bug strikes again, it could be a long season....... FCS Howard has a very good QB Caylin Newton (if you recognize the name its because he is the younger brother of Cam). He is a gamer and dual threat... He earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conf POY while passing for 2,629 yards w/22 TDs and rushing for 504 yards w/4 more TDs.... The knock on him is that he loves to throw the ball around the field but had 17 INTs so he needs to be better on his accuracy. Howard will not be afraid and lost last year to Ohio 38-32. In 2017 they beat UNLV after being 45 point underdogs which was the biggest upset ever in College Football........... Don't be surprised if they pull one out here also.

Alcorn St +25'.... 10 u *Team has won 5 straight SWAC East Titles and 2 SWAC Championships. This team is being compared to the Steve McNair years in the 90's and the school record of a 10 win season in 2014 could be threatened..... Team has returning starters on both sides of the ball.... Braves are coming off of Celebration Bowl victory, and their QB Noah Johnson garnered All-American honors in '18.....returning RB De' Shawn Waller, and 4 veteran Oline with 7 returning Defensive players... Braves are stacked.

Sam Houston St +8....10 u *SHSU has 18 starters off of a 6-5 team that was decidedly underachieving. Shouldn't be the case this go around... Lobos were 3-9 and played very little Defense allowing 36.2 ppg.... BearCats expect to win this game I may take a shot on the Over here too.

JMU +7'.....8 u *Teams are heading in the opposite direction and Dukes are loaded for bear..... Last year, Dukes had No Carolina St on the ropes and this year's team has starters at nearly every position... West Virginia is in rebuilding mode and think this one comes down to the wire.

Illinois St +6'.....7 u *Redbird finished 6-5 last year which turned out to be an average year but credit to their conference..... Redbirds blasted Colorado St (35-19) and promises to be much improved with a plethora of starters back... NIU was 8-6 and certainly better than Colorado St but they lose 64% of its offensive production and 75% of its defensive production... Should be a tight one.

DA Rest:

Indiana St +7'.....5 u *Les Miles was given a half empty cupboard at Kansas and has to replace half of the offensive and defensive production from a less than stellar 3-9 year.... Sycamores are veterans throughout and should be better than 2018 Nicholls St who took down Jayhawks ly.

InCarnate Word +6'......6 u

Nicholls St +22'.... 5 u

SDSU -7'.....5 u

Portland St +28'..... 5 u

UC Davis +13'......5 u

Good luck guys
