Made one mistake on my post...I meant who had best record last 4 years. OU in a landslide. My mistake. Keep trying to find stats that make your point. :nono:

You keep referring to that 35-7 loss OU had against Kstate a team that played in a bcs game versus a loss to an average 6 LOSS team. Which one is worst?? I would say a loss to a 6 LOSS team. Also if you just look at the final score to see how a game was played you are as stupid as I think you are. That game was closer than the final score indicated. But OU lost and that was the bottome line. I dont give excuses like Mike Williams dropped 6 passes. That is worst excuse i have ever heard in my life.

The Big Tease

Not sure if this counts the bowl game.....but even if it doesnt...USC gave up 126 rushing to Michigan....OHio State gave up 110 to Kansas State

WRONG! :nono:

Against Ohio St.
Michigan had 448 total yards, 170 yards rushing with a 4.3 ypc, and scored a total of 35 points. :(

Against USC......
Michigan had 320 total yards, 49 yards rushing with a 1.3 ypc,and only scored 14pts for the game. USC defense shut out Michigan in the 1st half and Michigan's last touchdown came in the 4th quarter when they were down by 21 pts!!!

Lets compare, shall we......
The Ohio St. defense allowed Michigan 128 more total yards,121 more rushing yards, and allowed Michigan to score 21 more points!!!!

DO NOT try and compare the Ohio St. defense with the USC defense. It is all about results. USC not only was better stat wise, but points allowed and winning margin was better.

You were right about Ohio St. being #1 in the nation against the run, but USC was 2nd and only 4 yards behind. I think that is remarkable for USC since the subs were playing in the 2h in virtually every game, and OSU had their starters in because OSU cannot blow out many teams.

LOL....Scott, I think Ohio State has a better record over the last 2 years.....and more National Championships..... :moon:

I cannot believe you just said that ridiculous statement. How embarrassing. No team can win 2 National Championships in one year. Ohio St. 2 years ago won an unanimous National Championship. Last year both USC and LSU won a split National Championship. In the last 2 years, Ohio St, USC, and LSU all have won a National Championship.

Were we talking the whole season or one game? According to the link The Big Tease provided, the difference between in rushing yardage given up over the year between OSU and USC was 7 YARDS!!!!! If anyone thinks that 7 yards over the course of 12 games is enough to crown on squad over another as superior you're really reaching.

As much as I do enjoy debating colllege football - this is getting silly. LSU only gave up 3 rushing TD's this season, while USC and OSU gave up 8 apiece, and LSU played an extra game. Maybe that makes them the best  .

You sure there was only one mistake???

Losing to Kansas St. at the end of the year is much worse than losing to a 6 loss team in triple OT on the road, and only the 4th game of the year. I respect CAL and you will be forced too in the next couple years. Now I said just losing to Kansas St. at the end of the year was worst. I did not mention getting BLOWN OUT and losing 35-7. So therefore, it is much worse. I am a big believer a coach should have his team playing their best football at the end of the year. No excuses unless major injuries. OU was horrible, and it just so happens it was against their toughest opponent they faced all year.

That game was closer than the final score indicated.

I dont give excuses like Mike Williams dropped 6 passes. That is worst excuse i have ever heard in my life.

I am sorry I guess you did not watch the game. Mike Williams dropped 6 passes that hit his chest and on top of that at least 4/6 Mike was WIDE OPEN with nobody around him. That crap happens especially playing in such hostile environment and he was only a frosh. Do you think USC loses if Williams catches 5/6 like he "normally" does. I am just saying what happened in the game. I even said I do not want to take anything away from KSU and that I felt they were the better team that day. If USC would have played KSU at the end of the year, USC would have won by 20+ points. Remember, it was only Carroll and Chows 2nd year at USC and they were still building the program. So yes, that is part of the reason why KSU beat USC by 7pts that night. OK, i just remembered another big reason why KSU beat USC that game. USC DB NUNN (junior) twisted his knee in 1st half and was out for game. His replacement was a true freshman Buchannon and KSU torched him all night. Nothing USC could do, it was brutal to watch. Luckily Carroll put Allmond in his replacement but it was 2 games too late. SO there were reasons why USC lost by 7pts. I do not care if these are excuses or not, these are the facts of the game. If KSU beat USC 44-10 then these things have no bearing on the game. KSU beat USC 27-20 with USC on KSU 20-30yard line late in the 4th and USC WR Kelly dropped a 1st down pass. No suprise there because he always did that and he was a senior. Then again you thought KSU dominated USC 2 years in a row but both combined victories totalled 11pts (and it was Carrolls 1st and 2nd year at USC). That is the intelligence of the person I am trying to debate. I guess I am going to get anywhere with you. :nooo:

That is worst excuse i have ever heard in my life.

It happened. Period.

Scott.......OK, then under that assumption USC does not have a National Championship. You have argued all this time that the AP is a legitimate Championship. Last year Ohio State won the BCS and the AP National Championship. If you are saying that USC won a National Championship then their are TWO awarded...it is either one way or the other, pal.

So you can have it one way or the other.....either Ohio State has 1 and USC has .5 or Ohio State has 2 and USC has 1....take your pick, but bottom line, Ohio State has a batter record and more National Championship than the USC Trojans. This means that USC is not the most successful program over the course of the last 2 years.

You are such a hard head.....

And by the way.....you freakin moron.....you cant say a team has a better rush defense just based on how they perform against ONE team!!!! Over the course of the year the Buckeyes gave up less rushing yards than USC. It doesnt matter who they come against, or whatever goofy chit you can come up with. FACTS are FACTS and NUMBERS are NUMBERS. It was close.....but USC is a close second.....so get your facts straight.

But you should be used to USC finishing second....it is what they do best!

I looked back at the link again, and USC gave up 7 more rushing yards than Ohio St. but USC had 4 more rushing attempts than Ohio St. If OSU would have faced 4 more rushing attempts and be equal with USC, OSU would have given up about 1 more yard than USC. Remember, OSU gives up 1.9 ypc. 4 (1.9) = 7.6 more yards and USC has OSU beat by .6 :D Just crunching the numbers! We have to even up the playing field as much as possible and have OSU face the same amount of carries as the USC defense faced. Both teams also faced a common opponent and USC outshined Ohio St. big time!!!!!!!!!

Again you embarrass yourself. USC and LSU each won a NC last year. Ohio St. won a National Championship but theirs was unanimous. Each team goes down in history of winning a NC. USC now has won 9 National Championships. If USC next year wins an unanimous champhionship, USC will have won 10 NC not 11. Winning an unanimous NC is more special than a split NC but it does not change the fact that both teams won a NC. USC does not get .5 NC and Ohio St. does not get 2 NC. Like it or not, this is how it works. This is the system. There is no playoffs and throughout college football history there has been unanimous and split NC's. This is NOTHING new. This is just the first time there was a split NC since the BCS started. Would have I preferred an unanimous NC? Hell yes but I am very happy with an AP as LSU is very happy with a BCS NC. I recognize LSU as National Champions last year as well they should recognize USC as National Champions. Neither trophy carries more weight. The ultimate goal is to obviously be unanimous NC as Ohio St. was 2 years ago. Without a playoff system, that task is tough to accomplish. I hope you understand. You make yourself look foolish talking about OSU winning 2 NC's in one year. 2 years ago OSU won a NC but recieved 2 trophies. LSU won a NC but recieved 1 trophy. USC won a NC but recieved 1 trophy. Did you know USC won and were given other multople NC trophies? I do not mention those because it is all about the BCS and AP trophies and both carry equal weight. Understand?

In my opinion, USC was the most successful program over the course of the last 2 years. Now, you could make a great argument that Ohio St. was and I can accept that. Although I have a few valid counter arguments if someone makes that case.

Are you sure I am the dumbass? Those are the same numbers as the link The Big Tease provided. Why would another site have different #'s? I agree the sites have to rank OSU #1 because they did in fact give up the fewest yards rushing. However, did you not read what I wrote? I will spell it out to you more clearly as you have some kind of reading disadvantage.

Ohio St. gave up a total of 726 yards rushing
USC gave up a total of 733 yards rushing.

OSU gave up 7 few yards than USC.

Ohio St. had the ball rushed against them 383 times
USC had the ball rushed against them 387 times

USC faced 4 more rushing attempts than Ohio St. which obviously would lead to giving up more yards. Right?

USC and Ohio St. both give up 1.9 Yards Per Carry.

To even up the rushing attempts so USC and Ohio St. are on level playing field, you simply do a little muliplication.

4 x 1.9 = 7.6 yards

Then you add 7.6 yards to OSU's 726 total yards.
7.6 + 726 = 733.6

Now that we evened the playing field..........

Ohio St. gave up a total of 733.6 yards rushing
USC gave up a total of 733 yards rushing.

Therefore USC gave up fewer yards. Don't you think what I did was fair? There is "nothing" else you could do to make the playing field more fair than what I did. Is it fair to compare USC to OSU rushing stats when USC had to stop a RB 4 more times? NO, so you take the average carry and multiply by 4, then add it to OSU total.

Scott just to correct you & everyone else, USC gave up less rushing yards then Ohio State. I am not pro USC by any means but I like to focus on the facts. Here is a little breakdown:

USC in 13 games:

faced 425 carries
allowed 782 net yards
allowed 1.84 yards per carry
allowed 9 td's
allowed 60.2 yards per game

Ohio State in 13 games:

faced 415 carries
allowed 810 net yards
allowed 1.95 yards per carry
allowed 12 td's
allowed 62.3 yards per game

These are official ncaa stats from the official ncaa site.

of course, you can flip it from completely objective to somewhat subjective by saying that ohio state faced more potent rushing attacks than did southern cal.

but that would be opening another can of shit.

Yea whatever.....it really doesnt matter.

So Scott......in determining who has had the most successful 2 year span, you are saying that Ohio State and USC have both won a National Championship, end of story? If you are then you are truly the biggest moron on this forum. We played in something called a National Championship game......you got to play in a Rose Bowl.

How about this Scott.......I have got to do this forum a favor. Simple bet. Ohio State versus USC. Most wins next year wins. if OSU wins, you leave the forum for good. If USC wins, I will leave for good.

You game? I am so tired of the crap.

NO i do not accept your bet. I have been told by quite a few posters they love to read my posts and agree with me on most topics. However they never seem to participate even after I encourage them too. Oh well. I also enjoy posting and enjoy this board, so I do not accept that bet. In addition, there prob. a lot of posters who might miss your posts so that is not fair to the forum.

NOW, i will accept the bet if you want to wager some real $$$$.

Mr Hockey
Thanks for the stats. I thought I was right about USC being #1 against the run. In all fairness to The Big Tease his link did prove his point. But I must pat myself on the back for defending USC as the #1 against the run with my math skills ;)

All in all, it is a shame many of you posters dislike me. I do not dislike any of you, except for a very few posters but they do not bother me.

These are the posters who I enjoy the most, they always voice their opinion and have solid info behind it. They also write very well and I enjoy reading their posts. Most importantly all are respectful.

These posters are Knowledgeable as well but "sometimes" make very little sense. They also feel their opinion is worthy enough without supporting it and many times fail to counter argue. These posters love to bash and make personal attacks. They are just as fun to debate with and I look forward to their replies, especially since they usually reply fast.

LOL, talk about a flawed premise. You know you come over here and trot your rational analysis bullshit to all of us only to look like a buffoon when you get exposed with the copy and paste act you pulled earlier. And now you have the audacity to single out posters that you don't like for disputing your trite shit? You stay on this board all damn day in meritorious defense of your football team and spatter out the same tired ass stats and "facts" as to why your team is better than everyone else's.

Here's a newsflash: WHO GIVES A FUHK! This is not a fan based message board. Go jump on a UCLA bulletin board or something and cheer for your team over there, otherwise save us with the rhetoric.
