Hudson Valley area.....NY
Cuse +3 over Texas
After watching TT and Bobby trying to beat the Johnnies 2-3 maybe those B-12 coaches better go back to some clinics and learn how to attack zones.Unreal the way the "General" tried to play against the zone.No time to explain but he broke about 4 or 5 cardinal sins doing it.

I'll take the Cuse.There is a side story here also.Boe doesn't like Barnes.Forget all the TV..BS.

Barnes is not well liked by many coaches. Before he took the job at Prov. he was at clemson.Gordie Chiesa was the head coach at Prov.Barnes did some stuff that outraged every coach in the BE and many, many coaches everywhere else.He is a backstabbing snake. At a clinic a few yrs later in upstate NY,Barnes kinda forgot about the incident but about 250 NY coaches didn't.In the question and answer period he was asked 5 questions about what he said to the Prov. AD about Gordie. The weasal squirmed and said he didn't rememember all the particulars. Can't really go into all the details but it had to do with a kid named Marty C who said he was going to tranfer because Gordie benched his prima donna ass.Barnes wanted the job and did some stuff behind the scenes.
Texas won't win because there is a God.An no way will that spineless weasel be rewarded.
Gordie left that yr and became an Asst to Utah in the NBA.He has been there ever since.
Jimmy Boe would love to kick his ass.

Will also take Marquette +4.5
Could be a strecth because of Collison but Wade alone will keep this one close.

Like Tenn +3 over Duke...Duke beat them by 20 way back this yr but Tenn is deep and athletic.

Texas +6 over Conn
Stephens and Schriber are tough. It's Taursi and some good puppies vs a talented Texas team.

Am leaving for Orlando in about 20 minuts with my HS.
Hope everyone does well on Sat.

like your write ups every time I read them, but I am wondering how Jimmy B not liking Barnes is going to factor into this? Does Barnes like Jimmy B, therfore he will tell his team not to play as hard as they could, but simply hard enough to win? Jimmy B will tell his team to mop the floor with Texas, therfore they will win b/c their drive and determination is greater than that of Texas?

If I have read correctly in the past, you are coach of a high school or college team aren't you? If you "hated" another coach that you were playing, how would that translate into your kids play?

I am really not trying to be a smarta** about this, but I am wondering if this is really the kind of stuff that coaches try to pump their kids up with. Does C. Anthony care about an old Providence coach?

If your point was that there is a God and the cuse will win because of that, not because of the motivation factor, then I understand that logic. However, I don't know if I would bet money simply because of that...maybe I need to have a little more faith.

Also, I am sure Barnes would love to kick his ass too if it meant winning a national championship. We shall see.

Good Luck

hornsfan:

meaning no disrepect to box at all- id have to agree with what youre saying. im sure he has other reasons to like the cuse though. however, simply on barnes v. boeheim. in a final four game with a line of 3 and the coaches on the sideline- theyve got very little impact on a game.

i DO value coaching friendships and "this coach hating that coach" type stuff in football, because in football- coaches CAN impact a game directly as far as the final score in concerned.

meaning a coach will pass the ball up 21 points in the 4th quarter and really jam it down the oppositions throat.

and then on the flipside, if there are coaching friendships in a given game- they must be noted if the spread is double digits because the winning coach will be more inclined to run the ball and not tryin stupid sh1t to run up the score.

in basketball though- i think stuff like that has less of an impact.

again- i mean no disrespect to box, not am i trying to discredit his info at all.

if anyone has coached and there is some hard feelings-and the players luv there coach they play harder- and more important practice harder- now this being a final four game the cuse should play hard anyway- but on any game played coaches look at something to hang there hat on for motivation- look at sapp before the sb-it should not make a big difference in a game like this but every little mental edge coach b can come up with he will need because this is young team. i now this is not the main reason box likes the cuse- but one of the reasons that put the cherry on his pick -gl box

I also think Collison for Kansas and Wade for Marquette will be awesome to watch....................Got to think that the J-Hawk's with their Senior's will leave it all on the floor for William's.....
