Firefox Profile

I have been using FireFox for 4-5 months now on both of my computers at home. A few days ago, my upstairs computer prompted me that the Default Profile was in use and could not be accessed. I created a new profile but lost all of my Bookmarks and such information. My downstairs computer (the one I use for work) just prompted me the same thing. I can't afford to lose all Bookmark information for this computer.

What do I do? or what have I done wrong?
