I really like the card today. Stepping up my stakes. See what happens.
Minnesota(-3) over Michigan State (1.5*)
- - Fundamentals and matchups; situational factors; line value; trends; contrarian; etc. Lots of approaches for capping football . . . Amazing shift in perception here, as the line must have been Michigan State favored if this game was played last week, so can’t be much value with the visitor. Regardless, everything Minnesota has done well up to this point has been building for this opportunity, and they will carry my cash.
Tennessee(-10') over Florida (1.5*)
- - Florida has won 16 of the last 17 against their rival. I don’t see the visitor holding back the dam burst.
Kansas(-7) over Duke (1.5*)
- - Simply put, seeing is believing. Now, after what I’ve seen, I’ll have to see it before I believe Duke is the danger paying a visit to Lawrence.
Stanford(+13') over Washington (1.5*)
- - My takeaway from the Stanford game against USC was that Stanford, despite adding like only one portal transfer, looked nothing like the backsliding teams of recent years. I think Stanford is going to be a danger after having to wait two weeks to get the taste of the USC flow out of their collective system.
Texas(-7) over Texas Tech (1.5*)
- -
Utah(-15') over Arizona State (1.5*)
- - This is the spot for Arizona State to rise up and turn my designs of making money by going against them as a fool’s errand.
Arkansas(+2) over Texas A&M (1*)
- - The Hogs under HC Pittman look like they are having lots of fun going up and down the field. HC Jimbo has stolid A&M focused on bonding in a foxhole. On the big stage at Jerry’s World, I’m very much liking the live dog.
Baylor(+3)(-125) over Iowa State (1*)
- - Wrong team is favored, IMO.
Clemson(-7') over Wake Forest (1*)
- - Clemson will be ready, maybe that won’t be enough.
Rutgers(+8) over Iowa (1*)
- - The disjointed 7 hour performance against Nevada did nothing in my mind to answer questions about this Hawkeye season. Now Ferentz will go to Rutgers like it’s a business trip. On the other side this has been lining up as a huge spot for Rutgers since the first of the newly configured two a day practices this summer. I hope Iowa escapes by winning the epic battle of punters.
North Carolina(-2') over Notre Dame (1*)
- -
Michigan(-17) over Maryland (1*)
- -
Oklahoma(-13') over Kansas State (1*)
- -
Cincinnati(-16') over Indiana (1*)
- - Cinci was my cash cow for two years in the Desmond Ritter era, and in the process my eyes were on their games most every week. Now I’ve had a few weeks to form some impressions on the new look Bearcats, and what I’ve seen is a team that plays like Cinci light, with the same attacking tempo and frequent miscues, but without the depth and QB eraser of prior editions to make the other side pay. But on the whole, Cinci has looked stronger than I expected, and I see this as a good spot to show that to be the case.
At this point I’m saving only one game for tonight.
