UPDATED ODDS ON FIRST NFL COACH TO BE
FIRED OR RESIGN IN 2002 FROM BETWWTS .COM

ST. JOHNS, ANTIGUA (October 2, 2002)?The first four weeks of the 2002 NFL season have provided numerous surprises with pre-season Super Bowl favorites dropping to the bottom of their conferences and a few long shots stepping to the forefront of the league. As has been the case in past seasons, getting off to a slow start can result in pink slips for head coaches. Realizing that some NFL coaches are coming under immense pressure from ownership and fans after sluggish starts, today BetWWTS.com announced updated odds on which NFL coach will be the first to be fired or leave their team this season.

It should come as no surprise that BETWWTS .com?s pre-season favorite to be the first to get his walking papers, Dick LeBeau, remains the most likely candidate to lose his job first at 2/1 odds. In a shocking turn of events, the previously unthinkable has become a reality as the St. Louis Rams have begun the season 0-4 and have lost Kurt Warner for at least 8-10 weeks. As a result, BETWWTS .com has listed Rams head coach Mike Martz with the second best chances of being fired or resigning first this season at 3/1 odds. Other head coaches that could have an early exit this season include, Mike Tice, Minnesota Vikings (4/1), Marty Mornhinweg, Detroit Lions (5/1), Dan Reeves, Atlanta Falcons (5/1), and Dave McGinnis, Arizona Cardinals (5/1).

Current Odds: *All Odds Subject To Change*

Who Will Be The First NFL Coach To Be Fired Or Resign This Season?
Dick LeBeau 2/1
Mike Martz 3/1
Mike Tice 4/1
Marty Mornhinweg 5/1
Dan Reeves 5/1
Dave McGinnis 5/1
Brian Billick 6/1
Herman Edwards 7/1
Dave Campo 8/1
Jeff Fisher 8/1
Mike Holmgren 10/1
(Others coaches available upon request).

Re: First Nfl Coach To Be Fired Or Resign In 2002

***Some thoughts.......

Who Will Be The First NFL Coach To Be Fired Or Resign This Season?
Dick LeBeau 2/1

***Good bet. Way ahead of the pack as a potential target to get the axe. If Cincy slides to 0-8 or 1-9 (something like that), a mid-season shake-up is definitely possible. Bengals organization has fired coaches in mid-season before, so there is historical precedent.

Mike Martz 3/1

***As much as I despise Martz, he's not going anywhere. This bet is just lunacy. You don't fire a head coach who was in the Super Bowl last season. No chance.

Mike Tice 4/1

***Another no chance bet. Tice was just hired and he will be given at least one full season, probably two. Vikings ownership realizes this debacle is not Tice's fault, but rather having to deal with a team of primmadonnas and horrible talent on defense.

Marty Mornhinweg 5/1

***Should be the second odds-on favorite to be fired. Unless Lions show improvement, he'll be gone at the end of the season. One bright spot for Mornhinweg -- he's tight with GM Millen.

Dan Reeves 5/1

***This won't happen. Reeves enjoys way too much stature in the league to be fired/resign in mid-season. At the end of the year -- maybe Reeves could resign, but that's if Falcons completely crumble. I say they go 7-9 and Reeves goes one more season.

Dave McGinnis 5/1

***Very possible. Good odds here. Cardinals organization is very shakey and McGinnis seems to be losing control of his team at times. If the team falters, he's right up there with LeBeau.

Brian Billick 6/1

***Totally asinine. Billick is one of the best coaches in the league. He lost practically every talented player on the roster. Totally rebuilding phase. Even crusty Art Modell knows Billick can coach. Question: You think Modell is going to fire THE ONLY COACH WHO PRODUCED A SUPER BOWL WIN IN 38 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP? Yeah, right. This is ridiculous to even have his name listed.

Herman Edwards 7/1

***Edwards will go at least this full season and maybe two. It will be hard to drive out Edwards after he overacheived last season (Jets made playoffs). The Offensive Coordinator (Hackett) will surely get booted, but Edwards job is safe for now.

Dave Campo 8/1

***No chance. Egomaniac Jerry Jones will NEVER show publicly that any decision he makes was wrong (note the way the disatrous Chan Gailey hiring and firing was handled). Cowboys at 2-2 will be just competitive enough to wallow in mediocrity. I expect this to continue indefintely. Dallas fans are in for a disatrous decade ahead. But Campo's not going anywhere.

Jeff Fisher 8/1

***Possible. Two subpar years in a row will create some fire in Nashville to oust Fisher. But I predict he last at least through the end of the season.

Mike Holmgren 10/1

***He's too vested in the organization. No chance he leaves before the others on this list. This is a wasted bet because Holmgren likes coaching and working with young talent. Absolutely no chance.

SIDE NOTE: I presume none of these coaches have health problems which could trigger a resignation. Reeves comes to mind as a possibility with his heart problems.

Tice - No way, only 4 games into his HC'ing career, they don't dump him that quick.

Martz - Can't see it just yet. With Warner healthy maybe, but I think now they have another excuse (even though they lost all those games except most of the last one with Warner).

LeBeau - It's not a total surprise that Cinci sucks. I think they stick with him a little longer.

Dan Reeves? Absolutely not!! 2 very close losses, he's been around forever, and battled back from poor health. No way, no way they show him the door.

Billick - If they were considering it, he just saved his job, at least for a few more weeks.

Campo - That would mean Jerry would have to admit he was wrong. Hahaha. Plus they are 2-2, they're over-achieving!

Herm Edwards to me looks like a very good bet @ 7/1!

I guess we were typing this at the same time Nolan. Funny how similar some of the comment are (ie. Campo/Jones). I guess we don't agree on Edwards.

Also, I forgot about the "resign" part when it comes to Reeves. Ya, I guess if his health takes a sudden turn for the worst then he could resign, but I can't see the team being so heartless that they'd fire him, especially when there don't seem to be any MAJOR problems at the moment.

My vote goes to BILL COWHER. What has he really done. Longest standing coach with the same team. Sticks with K. Stewart who has pretty well shown he doesn`t have it . If Pitt loses a couple of their next few starts he should be gone.

And I`m not even a Pitt. fan.

Just an opinion.

leBeau is LeGone, It's just a matter of time, he won't make it through the season. Steelers fire Cowher, I don't even know what to say to that, he is the heart ans soul of the steelers, and I hate the steelers.

skanoochies,
that's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. The Steelers will not fire Cowher............... I'll take that bet and give you 100-1. How much action do you want?

LeBeau is gone. No doubt he is the first one out
