We have had the tv for a while but just now got the tuner. Had been trying to figure out a way to easily get it with Directv, but it just aint happening unless you buy a seperate antenna and a multiswitch to use with the Tivo and blah blah blah - sorry too much work. Comcast Cable was running a great special and since we only need it for a month and already had the basic service + cable modem - I picked it up on the way home.

All I can say is WOW. Theres a show on about Starfish. Freaking ridiculous. Its like being in Circuit City when everyone stands around that one tv running HD and going ga ga. Thats me.

Have a 47" Panasonic widescreen. Its going on two+ years now, so I know its not the latest and greatest but holy cow. We watched the hockey game last night and all we could do was marvel at not only the size of the shot but the clarity as well. Pretty incredible.

Wait until you see the Super Bowl next sunday in HD. It is truly amazing.

As far as Directv, you have to get your locals via air, but they also have a HD package (of course, they do charge a 9.95 monthly fee) which includes:

ESPN HD
HDNet Movies
HDNet
Discovery HD theater

If you order HBO and/or Showtime, you will also recieve the respective channel's HD feed.

Directv just seemed like too much work to get HD. Have to order their seperate package, have to put up ANOTHER antenna, hope you get good reception etc etc. I normally hate the cable cabals around here, but I said what the hell. Glad I did too.

I got a Direct TV receiver for Christmas to go with my 57" Hitachi. Now I am not a big hockey fan by any means, follow the Rangers now and then, but I watched the Bruins and Lightning on Christmas Eve for over AN HOUR! Simply amazing! College basketball and hockey are so far the best sports to watch IMO...

The INHD channels are pretty freaking incredible. A lot of times they have crap on, but even the crap will cause me to watch for 10 minutes or so. We are going on our honeymoon to Hawaii and they had a half hour show on Hawaii followed by some half hour show on cliff diving. Somehow HD even makes crap TV mesmorizing.

kdogg, will Comcasts prices on their DVRs be comparable to the Tivo Series 2 you can buy now? Only thing I usually dont like when they offer stuff like this is the prices are usually outlandish or they make you rent. Couldnt live without Tivo.

I have directv right now and honestly dont know how I would watch tv without Tivo and without the dual tuners. When Tivo comes out with a dual tuner for cable, I will be first in line to buy it.

i found out the tivo option will be $9.95/month and it will be in just 1 digital box w/ the hdtv services as well, and you are able to record hdtv programs and regular programs as well...

So Comcast is going to have an all in one box, am HD Tivo unit that is also an HD tuner? Man that is sweet, what kind of hours will it record? Only thing that sucks now is we are moving into Cox Cable country, havent looked into whether Comcast is also available down there.
