Remember Rick Perry boasting about what a great job he's done with Texas' budget? Here he is, just seven months ago-

<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ARDfHfMxy8Q?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ARDfHfMxy8Q?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

But wait a minute, Ricko-Dicko. Your Comptroller says you have a $27 billion deficit. You're right up there with Cali, NY and NJ.

http://dallasisdblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2011/01/what-does-texas-27-billion-def.html

So what's Rick's next move? Texas already has the highest percentage of folks without health care, and has destroyed their school system.

Is Rick Perry a lying turd? Does a bear shit in the woods? LMAO!

I like him as my Governor

Good deal. Your Governor has saddled you with 27 billion dollars in debt. Since the population of Texas is 25 million, your share is $1080. Got a wife or kids? They owe $1080 each too.

Send him a check today.

Are you a TaxedEnoughAlready-bagger?:142crying

Your Comptroller says you have a $27 billion deficit. You're right up there with Cali, NY and NJ. LMAO!

Comptroller Susan Combs did not say there is a $27 billion deficit here. I suggest you not get your state fiscal and bugetary news from an education reporter.

Most seasoned estimates peg the recession-driven deficit around $15 billion to 22. Don't forget Texas has nearly $10 billion in it's rainy day fund, and Combs almost always starts the lege session with the worst estimate, making it increasingly less dire later. We should be able to handle the deficit without raising taxes.

Which is important as one of the main reasons for Texas' success is the fact that total gov't spending here is about 17% GDP, California is 25.5%--even tho they both had about the same % in 1987. That ever-widening gap explains a lot.

California has not added a single net job in over 10 years, whereas of the states that have gained jobs in the last few years--half of all those jobs in the entire US were created in Texas!

of course having a low regulatory burden helps, as does Texas being a right-to-work state and having enacted tort reform to keep the trial lawyers from running amok.

During recessions and times of tight money, Texas works extra hard to keep the spending down. That might sound strange and rare to sophisticates up North, I know...

Yes, there are budget problems here, too many undereducated and uninsured po' folk, and infrastructrue issues. It ain't paradise yet, but no place beside that one is without problems. But few states have the riches Texas has created of late.

Ordinary folk know their best interests and the ultimate test is when they vote with their feet---over 800,000 new folks moving to Texas in the last 10 years ought to be a strong sign to you of who's doing what right.

we'll finish wit Don Walser, from Lamesa, Texas:

Right to work? Terray why don't u call it what it really is. The lowest of the low take these jobs to break the back of other Americans. Their isn't a more obvious state in the union who wants no middle class whatsoever.

How many moved to Vegas in the last 10 years because things were being done right?

Maybe about as many as have left Las Vegas and moved to Texas in the last 2 years after they discovered their mistake?

Judgments made during both good and bad times folks have discovered (the hard way!) point more toward the truth of things.

You're right about that.

Texas -

16th worst of 50 in crime rate
8th worst of 50 in poverty
25th worst of 50 in education
50th worst of 50 in health insurance
12th worst of 50 obesity rate

Closer to Hell than Paradise.

And proud of it!

"If I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent Texas and live in Hell? (U.S. General Philip Henry Sheridan)

You can cherry pick a similar set of bad stats for every state, only demonstrating that you are missing the beef.

I said you can search those stats :0074

You're the one interested in these games, ignoring the main point.

One hint I'd give to help you is that every state you listed (except for OR and NH) are in the top 15 most-taxed in the US. OR + NH have among the highest property taxes in the US. OR also suffers from high structural unemployment, which gets especially bad in times like now. You have no problems finding Oregonians who recently moved to TX for work. Also, I'd---Crap, I'm now doing your work for you! I'll shut up now....

Okay, I get it. You let your mouth overload your asshole and can't back up your claim.

You didn't do what I asked you to? Post the stats here. I'm just trying to teach you to check your own counterfactuals for some semblance of intellectual integrity!

Terryray <-:mj122:

Well! You finally admit that Texass is a backward, poor, crime ridden, ill-educated, unhealthy state.

Thanks, Terry
