I know jack about televisions.

We are buying one for our office conference room for presentations and such.

Would love to spend less than $1,000.

Don't know exact size, but will be less than 46"

What style of TV: plasma, LCD (I think this is probably best), etc

Where to shop? (We are Costco members)

Any other advice

Must be VGA and HDMI compatible.

I don't think for our purpose that paying for for 480 hz is worth it???

No need for 3D obviously.

Dawg, I don't know if you have a Frys near you but it is the hands down best place to buy tvs right now. They have a 55" LG LED for sub 1k right now. A 52" Sony LED for 1100 and the best deal is on a Sharp Aquos LED right now.

Of course these are mostly good deals if you can buy them at the store so if you don't have one then I haven't done much but taken up your time.

for no more than you would use it..

you can get a 55'' Sanyo LED at WalMart for 800.00 and a 2 year extended warranty for for around 90 bucks..

Costco should have some sweet deals as well..maybe even an open box never used ..

see dept manager there..

Thanks for the tips.

So is LED the way to go?

55" is bigger than the wall we are using can handle due to the way the room is laid out.

Unfortunately, we do not have any Fry's close according to their site.

for a rock bottom price and "no frills" type flat screen, i'd recommend going into wal mart and snagging one.

if it's for throwing up power point slides and such, just stick with a basic model and you'll be fine.

LED is the way to go for this.

I think Wal-Mart is the best place for our purchase.

Tax-free weekend is this weekend, too. :)
