I am going to be visiting Florida from 10/16 through 10/31 and had a couple of questions, for ten days I am going to be staying in Ponce Inlet basically going fishing and golfing each day, this city is located between Daytona and Cocoa Beach, I am going to be spending my remaining days in Clearwater. I am interested in going to a college football game while I am down there, obviously Miami is out of the question because of distance, but I am looking at FSU and Florida, which stadium has the best atmosphere between the two? I will be closest to CFU has anyone ever been to a game there? Is Disneyland worth the investment or should I pass on it? Any suggestions of things that Ishould try to visit or go do while I am down there, the travel brochures only give you so much info, the locals of the state always know the best spots.

Thanks
MC

MC, can't help ya much on what is going on in FL over that time period, but will say that it is a much closer drive for you to the MIA football game than it is to Disneyland ;)

Definitely go to Orlando. I wouldn't exactly say that Disney World is a must see, but there are tons of other things to do there. MGM, Universal, Sea World, etc.

As for the football game - I'd try to take in the Florida State/Wake game on 10/25. Should be a good one. (UF doesn't have a home game during your stay)

What kind of fishing..offshore or flats? Agree with Stuman...go to FSU, nice facilities. I stay away from the theme parks..but if you've never been..its something to see.

The biggest recommendation I can make is while your in Ponce..make damn sure you go to the Sea Harvest and get a fried grouper sandwich...best I ever had. Place sits right on the water between the north & south causeways..any local can give directions.

Redfish,

I will definitly hit the Sea Harvest and try the grouper sandwich. I am going out on a charter deep sea fishing for a couple of days but I would also like to fish from the shore if thats possible.

Going to Clearwater to visit my sister she lives in a suburb of Clearwater, I have never been there before so I really don't know what I will be getting into why I am there, probably do alot of golfing and check out some of the nightlife.

Stuman,

THanks for the tip on Orlando, just was looking at the map and I can hit Orlando going from Ponce Inlet to Clearwater, I am going to check out some of the sites that you suggested, i pulled up Orlando's Vistor bureau's site and there is a shitload of things to do there. I am debating between the FSU-Wake game and CFU-Akron, logistics may force me to choose CFU, but trying to rearrange schedule to get me closer tO Hasse for the game.

BahamaMama,

I guess in Ponce Inlet I would be closest to Miami, but damn it stil lwould be a long haul, I may settle for a CFU game.

Ok..if you want surf fish..this is the best I've found. Take A1A south to Canaveral Park (National Park) from New Symrna..this is the road that warns you there is no outlet to the mainland....no turns involved just take it to the end. There is a $5 daily entrance fee and you want to get there early because there are only 5 parking areas available and they fill up fast. You want to get Parking area #4 or#5 because the water drops off real quick unlike the beaches at Daytona. All you need is light tackle and you should slay the Whitings.

On the way to the park you'll pass a bait shop on the left about 2 miles past the Food Lion, there's also a good resturant a liitle further up on the right that has bait and is called JB's Fish Camp, has good food and serves liquor drinks.

Parking #5 also has one other benefit...100 yds south of it on the beach ....clothing becomes optional. I can't count the number of times a girl has come by and stripped down...a lot of them are from strip clubs who don't want tan lines. Whats also nice about the park is drinking is legal (no glass) unlike Daytona or NSB.
