1-0 last round on series play(hit the Sens in 5)
5-2-1 +9.93 Units for the playoffs

Injuries -
Philly - Desjardins(2 weeks)
Ott. - Ray, Hull and Hnidy are all healthy scratches, if Schaefer can't go then Hull will take his place. Expect Ray to play at some point in this series.

Sens lines are as follows:
Arvedson-White- Alfredsson
Varada-Bonk-Hossa
Fisher-Smolinski-Havlat
Schaefer-Van Allen-Neil

Defensive pairings:
Redden-Rachunek
Chara-Phillips
Volchenkov-Leschychyn

Goaltending - HUGE edge to the Sens, plain and simple, Lalime is a much better goaltender than Cechmanek. This will most likely win or lose this series. As kickserv has mentioned many times before, shoot the puck and create alot of traffic in front of Roman. Expect to see Chara back in front of the net on the PP this series, which will pose big problems for Philly as they have nobody on the PK to match up with him.

Coaching - Slight edge to Philly. Hitchcock gets the edge with a Stanley Cup Ring. Jacques will use the last line change to his advantage and having home ice will make this one aspect even more important.

Forwards - EVEN. Both teams possess big playmakers. For Ott. you got Hossa, Havlat, Bonk, Alfredsson, Smolinski, Fisher and the underrated Todd White. For Philly, you got Primeau, Roenick, Gagne, Recchi, Amonte, Kapanen and the underrated Justin Williams.

Defence - EGDE Ott. - The Sens have two defenseman not playing that would start for Philly in Hnidy and Pothier. Desjardins being out hurts the depth of the Philly defense. Sens have 3 pairings on D that can match up with any Philly line and with home ice in the Sens favour this will be the difference maker for last line change. Sens have the skating and physical side for all 6 D.

Nine different players for Philly this year from last season's 5 game loss. Sens have 7 new faces so revenge is not a factor here. Not one player with Philly has mentioned it as motivation with such turnover from last year.
Philly has played the equivalent of 9 games already, whereas the Sens have had 8 days off. Any player will tell you that to have that kind of rest in the middle of the playoffs over playing 7(really 9 games) any day would be a welcome relief. Sens feel they can use their speed and exploit the Philly D. Most of all the goaltending will be the determining factor. This will be a long series. It would not surprise me to see it go 7 games but with the Sens fresh legs it could shorten the series. If the Sens happen to win the first 2 games at home then it will go 5. If they split in Ott. it will be a hard fought series. Special teams will also go a long way in deciding this series, if the Sens can get their PP going the way in went in the reg. season it could be the difference as well.

Sens win the series in 6 games.(1Unit)

GLTA!

HORNS:D

Other series picks:
NJ in 5 - exp. wins out in this one!
Dallas in 6 - Depth and exp. win this one!
Minny in 6 - Sorry to all my Canadian friends!

Horny- good stuff-

Aces D and goaltending the difference for the Flyers?? I agree with Horns BIG edge for the Sens IMO in goal and slight edge for the Sens on D (especially without the monster).

IMO the Flyers have become a favorite with the betting poublic and everyone seems to be hung up on the Sens past playoff flops. This is a different team. I will agree that the Flyers are much better than last year and they have a better "slob", I mean coach behind the bench. But the Sens were awesome this year especially at home when they turned it on.

I think this series could go 7 but Sens will come out jumping on Friday night.

Sens in game one large for me.

Roman's awkward style will catch up to him eventually.

good luck guys:D

the whole board had the leafs the last round

"I will agree that the Flyers are much better than last year and they have a better "slob", I mean coach behind the bench."

no need 4 the cheap one at HitchCOCK, he may B the difference in the series. this is gonna B some great matchups.

"But the Sens were awesome this year especially at home when they turned it on."

so was Detroit  :grins:

Is Lalime that good ?

agree with ya aboot Roman, but they said the same thing aboot another Chech netminder, Dominic Hasek. a former teammate of Roman on the gold medal team, and stanley cup winner with the wings. moon1 :grins:

sorry horny that this is in your thread-

Ace- I agree that Hitch is a good coach but you have to agree that he likes to eat-

your right about the Wings but I dont think they showed up for the playoffs and Giggy was great-

And we arent the betting public- almost all of the line moves in the Phil/Tor series were for Phil could have been smart money or whatever but I check out a lot of sites and I saw a lot more Flyers backers than Leafs backers. Plus almost everyone in here that was on the Leafs were Leafs fans-

your right great series coming up cant wait

chenks - meant that these 2 areas are my concerns. if guyz can step up and play d, and Roman stands on his head, and he just might make a save that way :grins: flyers got a chance.

sens loaded on d compared to philly.

we shall see :look:

3 OT in dallas

Great discussion guys, no problem chenker, love this solid playoff talk.
Sadly, Hitchcock had a hard time getting a head coaching job due to his weight. He was told in Kalamazoo that he had to lose weight or he would never get to coach in the show. He is a super coach.
So many great points made by everyone. One thing that worries me is the first 10 minutes of Game 1 for the Sens. The 8 day layoff will affect this part of their game then once they get their game legs it should be a Game 1 win. Like them large as well. Take care guys!

Horns and kickserv agree on something........wow...shocking :D :D

well I said Sens in 4 you said 6 so guess we don't totally agree :D

think this will be one boring series........see Sens just pummeling the Flyers.........but hey.....been wrong before

just hope and pray that it's not some Ontario jinx....for the life of me I can't figure out what the fu** the Leafs were on (perhaps crack).......why they didn't shoot the dam puck is beyond me.... I saw two 6 year olds on my street with more traffic in front of the net then the Leafs put in front of Roman.......and get this..........they actually hit the net.......wow......I know....what a concept.........shoot the puck...hit the net....wow!!

on the other hand......next time I go to the casino I'm bringing Roman :D

and if your Sens choke this time...........you better kick their ass...what better draw do they want

ks - You gotta love it that we actually agree, but I figure with any team making to the last 8 nobody is bad enough to get swept. i agree if the Sens do lose I won't be a happy camper and this city will give it to them. Mind you being the no.1 in the East TB would have been a better draw. I think it will be an exciting series and not boring at all. Philly and Ott. have potentially the best forwards 1-9 that are left in the playoffs. You go through each team and I don't think any team has that kind of talent. GL

Just thought I would squeeze my 2 cents in here. The time off is was the worst thing for the sens team. They are one of those teams that needs to be playing to stay sharp. I like the Sens to win the series but I think they will stumble in this first game. They have trouble adjusting. Just like Dallas had trouble adjusting to the Ducks last night. The Sens lost their first game to the NYI 3-0 because they couldn't adjust and I saw it a number of times throughout the season too. I like the Flygirls +1.5 for tonight but after tonight it will be all Sens...

OK - wait. Maybe its just me but I don't see the point in playing the Sens ML. You get better value if you play the Flygirls +1.5 and its a much safer bet! If you really like the sens then you have to play them by -1.5 otherwise it you have to play the Philly +1.5. Am I missing something???

Well - I guess that might just be the sportsbook I use. They have they Philly +1.5 at -180 and the Sens ML at -190. Pinnacle has Philly +1.5 at -195 and Sens ML at -181! Thats a pretty big diffence. strange...

Well I don't know about 6 games because I think the Sens have it together and will wrap it up at home. For me Senators advance in 5.

Bring home Lord Stanley's!
