bonds, sosa, giambi, does anyone think that maybe the todd helton suspicions are more accurate than they were first made out to be?

im a fan of helton's. think he's a terrific pure hitter. but i dont know. is it just than coincidence that he gets accused of using steroids in the offseason, and now this guy who is batting well over .300 for his career is now hitting .266 had a slump of something like 4 for 50 that he recently broke out of?

i know he was pretty outspoken about the charge being bogus, and then the guy who made the allegation retracted his comment saying he was misquoted, but it makes you wonder.

im not a colorado fan and dont watch a lot of rockies games, so i dont know if he is just swinging at bad pitches or if, indeed, his swings that used to be homers are turning into long fly outs. of course a counterpoint would be that he has little help in that lineup with larry walker gone. but still think the whole helton story is getting lost in the shuffle since bonds, sosa, and giambi are taking all the heat and helton is an all-american boy playing in relative obscurity in colorado.

and incidentally, anyone have any thoughts on larry walker looking like jeromy burnitz and vinny castilla (guys who can hit the shit outta the ball in coors, but not doing much outside of denver). obviously hes better than both of those guys, but still think he should be hitting better than .248, especially in that loaded cards lineup

I thought it was true when I heard it also. He was a QB for the Volunteers. No one is going to tell he was unaware of the juice, especially being an football player.

Well if he just broke out of a 4-50 slump and is still hitting 266 thats not bad. His numbers are down thats for sure but I still would bet he ends up hitting over 300. He was always one of the few Rocks that could hit on the road as his average must be hovering around 300 on the road. I see where you are coming from though G

how about Randy Johnson?

food for thought, this guy isn't close to his velocity of before. I know it could be just his age, but his arm strength is down and maybe he needed it to recover from so much use.

as for helton maybe he was, maybe just an off year. scoring is definitely down this year, maybe thats a good indicator of plenty of guys.

i believe in rumors, yep helton was on the juice
this guy has a 335 lifttime batting average
over the last 3 years his average in april is 325
and in may is 331
so its not to where he is a slow starter
266 this year

no juice,no production

What about Sosa? Sure, I truly believe that he isn't on steroids...that's why he was so forthcoming at the senate hearing by having his attorney speak for him instead of speaking himself. His production is in the toilet...of course, his lack of production is because he is in a new environment...yeah, right.
