as i was about to do. this is sears' first start on 4 days rest this year. figured i'd take a look at how he did on 4 days rest last year. it ain't pretty.

the #s are, in order, IP, H, ER.

5, 2, 1 (not bad)
6.1, 8, 7

That's an ERA of 7.57.

The rest of his starts, he had an ERA of 3.09.

Funny thing is, while I was typing it, I pretty much knew this guaranteed that Sears was going to be great tonight. Never fails, right?

based on last year's results (see above), he's going to struggle on 4 days rest going forward.

if i knew for sure that would be the case again this year, i would have made much larger bets on the sears' props that i played.

I watched the A’s last week and their bullpen was a mess late in the game. Unless something changed fast, I’d stay cautious about trusting them to close it out.

This A's team is 1-20 since May 14th and most of those losses are by 2 or more runs. Runline anyone? Kotsay is going to get canned if they dont suddenly turn things around (which is highly doubtful)
