Teams outside of Tobacco Road have a more difficult time on the road in the ACC because of the home court, the home crowd, and the home cooking (refs).
MD, GTech, FLA St, and Clemson are the red-headed step-children of the ACC. When wagering on any of the 'outsiders' on the road, you have to take into consideration the fact that your team has to beat all three of the aforementioned advantages. The home cooking on Tobacco Road being the most difficult.
I think one reason MD is defending National Champion is due to the fact that they had to overcome so much to win in the ACC. The 'Road to the Final Four' was like a walk in the park in comparison.
