i think it is safe to say in the near future...that benitez has no confidence in his breaking ball right now.....a closer cannot be a 1 pitch pitcher for a series.
the mets are done. big game and cannot produce. they had several chances tonight to blow this game open. leave 24 men on base. bobby v will not make it the rest of the year. you are right benitz 0-2 count throw a breaking ball to get the double play or at worst a strike out. don't serve a gopher over the middle. make the hitter earn it.
I'm a Mets season ticketholder and can't take it anymore. Benitez can have 30-40 consecutive saves without blowing one and I still hate him in a big spot. All Mets pitchers are absolutely horrible with a 2 strike count on a batter. And Hough as pitching coach seems clueless. Guess I'll just have to bet against them the rest of the summer to keep thing interesting.
