Weasel:

Sat on a jury, huh. In that case, I will yield to your expertise. With your astounding insights into everything, what else shall we change, freedom of speech and assembly? due process? equal protection?

But God help us if we try to take the right to bear arms away, right? Typical republican hypocrite. Pick and choose what you want to change to fit your agenda.

You know, even assuming, several, and I do mean several, questionable verdicts, don't you think your being a little short sighted here? I mean, this is throwing the baby out with the bath water.

There are many defense verdicts in very valid plaintiffs case that go unannounced in the media. I'm sure they far outnumber the perceived frivolous awards that garner all sorts of media attention and are spun by the right wing media.

As I've indicated many times on this board, unless you are in the courtroom and hear the evidence, you cannot make a valid determination as to whether the verdict was right or wrong. I think many of you with agendas similar to weasels think there there are these evil jurors out there who travel around the country to give silly awards and verdicts.

Get real people, they are just like you and me. Normal, and in your case normal but impaired. Are some lawyers better than others, of course. Can rich people afford more expensive lawyers, obviously.

However, just because a lawyer is expensive does not necessarily make him good. He may be good in discovery and pre-trial stuff but crap in the courtroom. And vice versa.

You know whats tiresome weasel is hearing idiots like yourself makeing moronic statements in support of caps on awards. Granted that is the prevalent right wing theme which you and your ilk continue to spin in the right wing media.

The only "moronic or biased jury" you referenced appears to be the one you sat on wherein you garnered all of your expertise. No one is hiding behind the Constitution, prick. I'm merely defending it from your attack.

You see, f***wad, the Constitution guarantees you (yes even you) the right to a jury trial. Your anti-american republican brothers would like to take that away by "legislating" an amount an injured person can receive.

How come you clowns don't have trouble with jury verdicts that take lives away (death penalty) but don't believe a jury is capable of determing an amount to award an injured party? Could it be that jury's do return death penalties (primarily against minorities) and that fits with the republican party's racist agenda?

Wow. How insightful. By the way, based on the content of your posts, I completely and totally understand your "...not having a clue..." while sitting on a jury in a simple auto case.

By the way, dolt, I like your analogy about the fox in the henhouse. My personal favorite on election eve was the barbarians were at the gate. After Bush and the liberal supreme court stole the election, was now they are inside.

It has proven to be true. This murderer has done nothing but take care of his friends. The absolute most corrupt president this country has ever had.

Another point, I know rather disjointed, but brilliant, there are good doctors (Strangelove) and bad doctors (Freeze), there are good and bad in everything. How can you make that moronic statement that lawyers merely gouge there clients. That is silly. You are playing to the media on high profile awards. That aint reality.

My posts are not ideologically motivated nor biased. I speak from the heart, mind and middle. My posts are intelectually stimulating, well thought out, and reflect common sense reality rarely seen on a gambling website.

I am by far and away the most intelligent, forward thinking poster that has ever been a member of this website. I have done my utmost to provide a modicum of ideas for all of you who struggle with the elementary issues of the day in the hopes of helping you with your daily struggles.

Yet, I am constantly berated by neanderthals such as yourself who refuse to open your minds to civilized thoughts, ideas and concepts which will further our journey through space and advance humankind.

No, I read with astonishment posts by Blitz, Pro, Freeze, Dawg, Dogs, 65, Wilson, Majestic, Fletcher, Nosigar and others too numerous to mention that not only display primate like thinking but also exhibits a dangerous attack on the values they state they represent. They are the barbarians inside the gates of Rome. Georgia, that is.

Well, the journey goes on. I, like my heros Allen Dershowitz and Jerry Springer, will go on and try to educate the masses before its too late and this country turns into the 21st centurys version of Nazi Germany.

Stevie There are a lotof things I do not like about Bush and the administration--the alien issue-medicare issue and tax cuts when we had wars to to fight however all you get from liberals TS is BS assumptions. --and reason for bringing back Cinton administration
A: It was the prior adminstration and
. B: to counter illiterate statements from liberal baffoons like below who are alleged to be officers of the court and for justice.
When they rave about last adminstrations which was chalked full of nothing but" proven" criminals including the president and makes then spins allegations into the following statement--

"What I have learned about many of the defenders of this criminal administration on this board is that they appear to have the same values"

However in light of it I would say there is some truth in it as far as having many of same values.

I would definately say sharing values is the biggest issue in how we vote. I think voting demographics proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Personally I would rather bust my ass to get what I want in life than whine "it's not my fault" and expect the government to take from other who do the same and give to me.

When the shit hits the fan I'd rather have those who will will stand up be at my back (right or wrong) than those running away.

---and Edward I don't think our forefathers (excuse me forepersons) had in mind when they drew up constitution to protect those promoting child ponography, throwing boyscouts out of parks and gays in,taking one nation under God or In God we trust out of America's way of life ect.
You can spin constitution issues any way you want even to the extent of calling this a criminal administration while making it appear an administration filled with corruptions and convictions is the best thing since sliced bread.

In conclusion I'll bring back this question for you to ponder--
If every liberal left the U.S. what would the conservatives lose.
If every conservative left how could the liberal survive.
Kind of sums things up doesn't it ;)

DTB to be short you conservatives are usually busy defending something that ten years ago you were against. That is what you would lose if the liberals left. You would lose all forward thinking. You would still be fighting the Viet Cong. And you would have a two class system.
Eddie, all I can say about how you are respected on this board is that even Jesus was crucified.
Peace and love.

If "facts" serve me correctly I have Nixon to thank for my exit from Viet Nam/Cambodia?? of course again there we go with facts vs allegations.

"DTB to be short you conservatives are usually busy defending something that ten years ago you were against. That is what you would lose if the liberals left. You would lose all forward thinking"

If gay marriage-Politically correct- anti Christianity--mass protesting--failure to take responsibilty for ones actions is forward thinking------ I'll stay behind.

I'll ask once again
In conclusion I'll bring back this question for you to ponder--

---and add if everyone converted to this forward thinking there would be no U.S. as we know it and that will occur at some point in time as you are doing good job of adding somemore "free loaders err thinkers to your roster.

Nixon extended the war for years before it was ended. It was ended because America took to the streets and gave him no choice but to end it because he could no longer keep the scam up. But now, back to the points TS made, any defense? Or would you like to talk about how Lincoln freed the slaves?

I honestly believe that our ability to protect this country from an attack by Islamic terrorist using weapons that will kill tens of thousands has been severely restricted by the irrational hatred of George Bush that is manifested in Democratic Party election politics.

Things are a bit rough right now in Iraq. How much better might things be going if Iraqis knew that the entire American political community, both left and right, Republicans and Democrats, was united behind an absolute determination to stay there until Iraq became a safe, secure free nation with a popularly elected government?

The Iraqi people have been looking for a signal of that determination ... and they see powerful politicians like Ted Kennedy invoking the name of Vietnam. America surrendered and lost in Vietnam .. and the world knows it. Iraqis know it. When Ted Kennedy and his Democratic sycophants say "Vietnam" Iraqis hear "America will abandon us again."

How many Americans have died because of Kennedy's partisanship? How many Iraqis have withheld support and information because they feel they will be left to deal with the consequences when America bails out?

Zero.

How many Americans have died because they followed GW and Halliburton into war. How much safer would America be if the billions of dollars wasted in Iraq where better spent defending ourselves against terror attacks and those that attacked our country. Saddam is gone how much safer do you feel?

Teddy Kennedy's assertion that somehow we're back to running Abu Ghraib the way Saddam did.

He said on the Senate floor that the same prison was now "under new management."

Let's look at the facts here. Is the United States Army running rape rooms? No.

Was the military torturing people? Nope.

Murdering prisoners? No.

Cutting out people's tongues (a favorite of Saddam's goons?) No again.

But is Ted Kennedy giving aid and comfort to the enemy? You betcha.

The reality in Iraq is that Sadaam held together at least 3 major groups that never got along. Albeit, the glue was rather bloody but it was glue nonetheless. It is my understanding that these three groups were formed during British imperialism similar to the former Yugoslavia.

Now that we have unglued the situation in Iraq it is patently obvious that the Bush Administration did not have the intelligence (if that aint an oxymoron I don't know what is) to realize that deposing Sadaam would leave this current fight for power which apparently the Shittes will win as they have the numbers.

That leaves the Suni's out as well as all the splinter groups. Again an illconceived, invasion of another country that posed no real threat to the USA. Viet Nam? Sure smells like it. Oh yeah, and before all the Clinton haters out there go off and say he had the same intelligence that the Bush man did, other than launch a wayward missle (not only in the oval office) at osama the BJ man did not invade Iraq

as far as the legal issue is concerned, maybe we shouldn`t cap the jury awards....JUST THE PERCENTAGE THAT RICH ATTORNEY`S CAN STEAL FROM THEIR POOR MINORITY CLIENTS.....how about just 50%....leave them half....maybe let the benz go and settle for a lexus?....

ed,i honestly enjoy your schtick...i`d love to have a beer with you someday...... or maybe,i`ll just drink some thunderbird and you can have some champagne...or something appropriate for someone of your intelligence and stature in the community...

Hey Putz:

The Lexus is used (but certified). I'll pick you up if you buy the martini's (beer is for the working class low-life from whom I take my 80% contingency fee).

Gardenweasel. Where are you from? If your in New Jersey (isn't there the gardenweasel expressway or some such freeway) you should go the the MJ summer party at Atlantic City.

You can buy me the martini's after I beat Jack by at least 8 strokes, pummell Pro with my 90 degree wedge, and pick up some babes (notice the plural) for the evening (unless Penguinfan goes).

We can have our little tete-a-tete at one of the bars at the Boragio (?) Casino wherein I will humiliate you in live and in person in front of all those who choose to attend this midsummer event on the eastern shore.

I will regale those in attendance with many tales from several of my books detailing my most interesting and adventurous life while mentalling taking you to task on any issue of international/national importance.

Are you up for it. Or, do I have to continue to treat the blisters on the tips of my fingers responding to your ill-conceived posts.

I remember seeing this Haliburton thing on 60 minutes a while back.....

In a country where Martha Stewart is jailed for insider trading the vice-president of that same country can have interest in and profit from and promote no-bid contracts, therefore creating a monopoly in a trade where American taxpayers not only pay for it monetarily but also in life and death.....

.....the ethical standards for the president and vice-president are different from those of the general population.....that would be a statement.....it would appear that there is no ethical standard at all for the president or vice-president to uphold, that they can pretty much just do whatever they want to....

I guess it's up to the government to see that the Martha Stewarts and Bill Gates of the world are subdued.......certainly there wouldn't be any monopolies or corruption present in the hierarchy of such government...

I guess along with the ethical standards they also have another pension standard upon retirement, judging from the full pay pension plan they enacted for themselves, while the commoners that pay for 50 years into social security get to draw a measly percentage of what the ruling party does, if they get anything back at all considering the insolvency date of SS being around 2046.....

Little wonder that I'm a bit jaded and cynical......
Little wonder also that I don't vote.

Stevie I usually skip over T.S. posts for lack of credibilty--if you have found one you would like me to comment on that you think has credibilty let me know and I'll do my best--

Eddie a question on your conservative greed/Liberal attorney defence of rights.

You have those protesting for gay rights on one side of poster and increase aids research on the other (liberal mentality)

----- how come we see all the attorneys lawsuits against tobacco-liquer-food services ect for being detrimental to others health but never see any against aid carriers who knowing pass on aids to others ( a form of homicide to my thinking) It wouldn't have anything to do with no corporate or insurance deep pockets to collect on, would it.?
Now how would you classify that?

Here some real forward thinking I surewould miss

Wayne:

An initial question, do you own stock in Fox Communications? Just wondering. Thanks for the link, but like the finger cots, I missed the point. Please illuminate.

With reference to your question, let me respond in this manner. First I take exception to the characterization of "conservative greed/ liberal attorney defence (sic) of rights" statement. I think it tends to be misleading.

I don't believe in special rights for any group. With that said, however, I think we owe it to any group that the majority has, in the past, discriminated against, to acknowledge such maltreatment in order to advance civilization.

How we acknowledge such past discrimination and maltreatment is not so easy too answer. Before you hop on your high horse and say something to the effect ".... see Eddie is a greedy attorney and he thinks blacks should be able to sue whites for slavery related issues..."I'm not saying that.

I'm saying I don't know how we should repay, acknowledge or in some other way compensate for past wrongs as a society. Hell, aren't we doing that now by taking Iraqi oil to pay for this illicit war? Kinda similar isn't it?

I gotta go know. I will pick this up when I get back this PM.

Ed.

I'm back. To continue. I do not believe in special rights for gays. I believe in equal rights for gays. I believe they should be able to marry and divorce (now imagine Eddie licking his chops thinking about a new arena to obtain legal fees) just like straights. They should also be able to have the same benefits from employers as spouses do.

With reference to research into AIDS, I believe we shoud spend proportionate tax dollars into finding a cure for this disease. In other words, where does it rank (on pure numbers alone, not percentages) on the scale of fatal diseases like cancer, cardiac, etc. No more, no less.

Surprisingly enough we agree, I believe an individual who knows he/she has any fatal, or potentially fatal, highly communicable disease who without advising the other party passes, or with a degree of liklihood, may pass the disease on to such person, should be prosecuted. I think it has.

However, going after groups like big tobacco and the food industry is different. Such groups are not satisfying a basic human need (sex). They are merely after big profits while risking lives. Big difference.

Then again, you and your Republican ilk probably considers big profits a basic human need. My apologies. No, tobacco and the food industry (to some degree) altered their respective products to become more addictive to the public causing higher disease and death rates.

Hey as a member of the insurance industry who is paying huge bucks for the treatment of millions with cancer, emphasyma, and other smoking and fast food related diseases KNOWINGLY caused by the tobacco and food industry's you outta be shoutin, "Go Eddie go."

And I don't mean off this forum.
