At the hospital I work, if I don't get the flu shot (which gets me a stop flu sticker on my badge), I will be forced to wear a mask at work my entire shift. I don't want the flu shot, but I don't want to wear a mask even more.

Those of you who know much more than I about the law, please comment with your thoughts on this matter. Thanks. I already got mine, but my wife hasn't.

It isn't what you asked, but what are your reasons for not wanting to get the flu shot?

6-5.....I guess my question to you would be which flu vaccine you supposed to get? I think there are 7 out there. I know I watched something on this a few days ago, and it there are 7 vaccines for 7 different strains, how to they know which one to use? I havent got mine yet either.

1) I have taken care of enough guillian barrete patients and read enough about vaccines that I don't want to take vaccines

2) I don't like being forced to do anything.

3) I think it's stupid for them to browbeat their employees into taking a shot.

You would not want to wear the mask for 8 or 12 hours straight. It's a back handed way for the institution to make you take it. The mask get annoying really quick, 8 hours a day for the flu season would be torture and they know that.

From a legal perspective, they are not "forcing" you to get a flu shot. They have provided a sensible alternative which is wear a mask. You have options, choose which one of the three fit you best. 1. Flu Shot 2. Mask 3. Dont work there

From a personal perspective, It is for the protection of their patients and yours. When I had my premature baby in the NICU it would piss me off when people who were supposed to be doing the 90 second hand to elbow hand wash would simply put soap on their hands put them under the water and move on. The rules are not for the individual washing their hands or in your case having a flu shot, they are to protect my kid and every other patient in the NICU and hospital from a strand of the flu coming into their facility.

On a side note, I hate the flu shot, never have believed in it, but for the past 6 years because of my kids I am at Walgreens getting that shit put in my body.

Good luck on however you proceed.

I have to get the flu shot where I work or I would have to find another job. The law wouldn't even save me cause I do home care and the CLIENT says get the flu shot or be gone. I don't mind the flu shot.

The flu shot is made up of several strains, it's an educated guess, they are trying to protect people/patients and high at risk people from getting the type of flu strain that is deadly. If you get the shot, you won't get that strain which they fear is the most severe. You can still get the flu, it's just a different strain. They do put all kinds of other crap into the shot and it does make we wonder about the long term effects but I have been getting it for over 10 years, so far so good. Although 10 years is not nearly long enough for a study. People DO GET SICK after obtaining the flu shot.. It's not directly from what they put into you rather, they put the dead strain into you, your body is building antibiodies to attack that foreign substance compromising your immune system to other foreign invaders and that's why people can get feeling sick after the flu. At least this has been what's been told to me.

I think it is total bullshit that hospitals/nursing homes can push this on their employees and trust me, I have tried to refuse it when I worked in one and they treat you as if you are committing a crime. They pressure you into it or in six five's case make the working conditions terrible so you will do it.

Technically they are not forcing you but in reality they really are

Stop whining and take your medicine. Maybe ask for a lollipop. And give me a break with the Guillain-Barre crap. You are at bigger risk for that if you don't get the vaccination.

1 in a million shot for Guillain-Barre with the flu shot.

17 in a million if you have the flu.

I'm starting to understand why you think it's no problem to spread the myth that antibiotics cure the flu.

This is a bit harsh bro. I don't like getting a flu shot either, which is why I don't do it. I also don't believe that vaccines are bad and have done my own research on the subject and believe that some vaccines should be a personal choice.

No way..................screw that.

Doctors...........assholes

Two years ago I got some kind of a upper respiratory thing. Think I caught it on a plane coming back from Armenia. The Doc made me have an EKG. After reading the EKG he said I had a heart attack. I told him he was full of shit. He told me to go to the emergency room, so I did. They kept me there for 5 days. Doing tests and treating my Bronchitis. After numerous EKG's and a resting treadmill the cardiologist said I was healthy as a horse and I didn't suffer a heart attack and to go home.............fucking idiot doctor.

Did they check you blood levels? Troponin? EKG is not always reliable but an elevated troponin is a dead give away no pun intended. Your cardiologists should figure that out in a timely manner but at least you got a clean bill of health, that had to be satisfying. One positive about Minnesota, the health care here is said to be impeccable
