% of americans that feel safer because we're in Iraq- 34

% of americans who feel less safe-57

We can argue all day about whether media coverage influences certain perceptions, like the general feelings about the war or how it is being handled by W.

But how could the media influence people on how safe they personally feel? And this is overcoming the huge blitz in 2002 and 2003 by the admin to scare the shit out of everybody regarding Iraq.

The majority of people are finally realizing that not only doesn't this war have anything to do with our security, but it is a huge drag on it.

Stay the course, W, stay the course.

I saw a poll on CNN this morning at the gym from the WSJ. I hope I word this correctly.

Americans who are pleased with the job Bush has done so far: 30%
Americans who are not pleased with the job Bush has done so far: 58%

That's a pretty telling picture if you ask me.

I would love to know what makes the people feel safer that we are in Iraq? Any numbers on a similiar poll of when we first went into Iraq? I bet those numbers would be turned around, but now people are now starting to see that they were misled about Iraq and that Iraq was never a threat as painted by Bush and Blair.

Its amazing how long it takes some people to see through all the shit. The sad thing is that the majority of Bush supporters voted so regarding the factor "feel safer because of Bush".

The cover shot of George standing at ground zero with the firemen, screaming into a bullhorn really sold people. Now public finally getting smarter. Everyone gets the picture at some point.

The fact of the matter is that we got Bush until 2008. He don't give two chits about what Americans think about what he is doing now in Iraq, with gas prices, or securing our borders.

You think he cares about his poll ratings. :mj07:
why should he.

He will try to get some things better before he goes out of office, but this is his last term. Just enjoy the ride the rest of the way.

Maybe he did make some bad decisions about Iraq. but you know what. No one really knew what Saddam had or didn't have and we were playing russian roulette letting that bastard stay around much longer.

The world is a dangerous place. Our security is not safe. If Bin Laden hits us again it is almost assuredly going to be while Bush is still in office. We got that to worry about. I think there is no greater hate in the world than between them two.

Nothing to do but support our President and hope for the best. All this belly aching you guys do is not helping matters. Sound like a bunch of pasty faced do no wrongers.

Scott, why do you think bin Laden hates Bush? Seems to me that Bush plated right into his hand.

Scott, tightly with you on some points, Bush is president until 2008, and he will serve through his second term. But make no mistake, he definitely cares about his ratings, why do you think he was in Idaho today? Any idea? Not much to do in Idaho politically but pick potatoes. He was there to counter the momentum protester Cindy has attained. You see Idaho per capita has the largest percentage of National Guard personnel in Iraq.

" Maybe he made some bad decisions regarding Iraq" I would say so, really no maybe about it, he royaly fuked the decision up.

And make no mistake about it, intelligence knew exactly what he had, we sold most of what he had to him to defeat Iran in that war. Furthermore, Iraq was by far one of the most stable countries in the middle East, with the lowest number of terrorists and radical Western hating Muslims.

Blindly supporting a president or any leader for that matter its ridiculous. That's what they did in Jonesville, you like KOOL-AID?

Steve-shocking how few understand the answer to your question. I have said to many times, but it was again confirmed and covered in the 4 hour national Geographic Special on terrorism earlier this week. The Royal Family in Saudi choosing George 41 to protect the Saudi Peninsula and the Royal Family against Saddam in place of OBL is why he despises Americans. His embarrassment on not being able to defend the Holy Saudi Peninsula with his muajhadeen army from Afghanistan that had defeated the Soviets.

Your joking right? :mj07: :mj07: Yep the Bush family and the Bin Ladens are like the Hatfields and McCoys'''==

Yep lets blindly follow a administration that is leading us down a road that is not the right direction. You can go right down that road with Rush Limbaugh drinking that Vicodin Kool Aid but most Americans are beginning to see through the facade. I think we all can rue the day in 2000 in South Carolina where the religious zealots destroyed John McCain's campaign through dirty politics and one has to wonder just how much better off the country would be if MCcain had been elected over Gore.

Well Shamrock hit on it with the Saudi referance and Bin Laden wanting the US out of Saudi.

But remember when Bush said that Bin Laden was going down dead or alive. The longer Bin Laden stays free the more embarressment George W suffers.

I probably shouldnt have but I watched all the 911 documentary on Nat Geo this week. That brought up alot of open wounds.

Bush has destroyed alot of what Bin Laden had and if I am not mistaken killed some of his family members and alot of his closest allies.

I still think Bin Laden is in Iran getting medical treatment and running his war machine from there.

Someone said there were not any terrorists in Iraq before we got in there. I would have to contend that Iraq was full of terroists in all shapes and sizes.

Why was it so easy to take Baghdad ? the Republican Guard had over 20,000 loyal followers willing to die for Saddam. But then the word went out. We will not die all at once. Retreat and hide in the citys.

When things calm down we will come out and kill and bomb the Americans and embarress them to no end. 20,000 insurgents ready to die. And anyone wonders why we have bombings daily.

The advice may have even come from Al Quada leaders to Saddam. It seems to be working and wearing at the American resolve.

The best thing that can happen is for Iraq to remain free. It will make tremendous changes in the middle east over the next ten years. Its too late to back down now. It would be worse than any Vietnam humiliation to leave Iraq to another ruthless dictator. It would happen within a month of US forces leaving.

your just stupid

what choice do we have ? you gonna protest in Crawford in front of Georges house and expect to change anything. :mj07: :mj07:

See through the facade. I have enough intelligence to know what Bush was up to long ago. But did that stop him ? no .... Colin Powell coudn't stop it. This is our goverments power and will at the highest levels. You would whimper like a baby if you knew the threats and problems that go through the white house daily. Information that is kept from the American people for our own good. Just be glad you can get a good nights sleep. I doubt if George W gets many restfull nights.

McCain is not the answer.

Gore is a pussy. Pity the fool.

Scott, you are right about oner thing Iraq will fall within months of our leaving. But I will add whenever we leave. bin Ladens plan was to dehfeat us financially and he is doing a pretty good job of it. We don't even have the money to defend ourselves because Bush has blown it all in Iraq. Bin Laden couldn't be happier. Just my humble opinion.

Im not sure why folks say Iraq will fall with in a few months after we leave. No one else is dumb enough to invade and end up owning that pices of crap. They may continue there civil war that has started with us there. So whats new?

Yep, I think that there is a copy of a personal check from Dubya Bush sent to Bin Laden (Chase Bank) for 1 millyion dollers with the memo saying: moni for "veedeo b4 eelecshion". The copy is in Oliver Stone's personal secret vault and will be available soon in a theater near you.

nobody should be surprised that bush's poll numbers are down right now.

other than ww2, war is unpopular.

i heard today that truman's poll numbers were 24% during the korean war.

pulling out of iraq is definitely the wrong move.

putting more troops in iraq, imo is the right thing.

time will tell if bush was right to invade iraq....he bet his presidency on it.

he has get the oil prices & the illegals under control.

Your absolutely correct AR --No one LIKES war.

Had to smile when I saw this--
Stevie--Scott, why do you think bin Laden hates Bush? Seems to me that Bush plated right into his hand.

Yep bet he likes 75% of his upper echelon dead and himself having to hide in caves knowing its a matter of time--and surely he detested the prior admin who let him roam freely and gave him a get out of jail free card.

Shamrock--"Furthermore, Iraq was by far one of the most stable countries in the middle East, with the lowest number of terrorists and radical Western hating Muslims."

do you have any facts to support this opinion--and more opinions from moveon.org and M Moore are not facts.

"IF" what you say is true the population would have had to had positive view of our 1st invasion--make sense ;)

75% of his upper echelon dead? Man, just a few more weeks and terrorism should be done for good! Look at that, we're right on the brink or reversing centuries worth of hatred/fanaticism in just 2 years!

"the bunker"
we are doomed...any war that lasts longer than a month....and has casualties, will be lambasted by the press....and the left......as this one iis.....

that is,unless hilary is the one that makes the call....

actually, lest we forget........biden,hilary,kerry et all were for going in.....it`s not just bush...they were for it also....and they aren`t for cutting and running....as many on this board are...

actually, more dems supported the resolution than voted to extract saddam from kuwait....go figure...

and please...no bullshit about access to info...the armed services committee had access to everything....every inteeligence service in the western world said saddam had weapons(i still believe he did...we know he did...chemical and biological weapons).....where they went,is anybody`s guess....

why isn`t that question being asked?...no chemical or biological weapons were found.....no confirmation of their being destroyed exists...at a time when saddam was under intense pressure....

what happened?....

1)where are the weapons?

2)why did the dems support the invasion, and not support the kuwaiti action?....that WAS u.n. sponsored,btw............

3)why are radical left wing anti-war activists marching on walter reed hospital...that houses our injured soldiers from afghanistan and iraq?...

most of the demonstrations have been held on friday evenings, a popular time for the family members of wounded soldiers to visit the hospital......

we support our troops?....don`t we?....why harrass them and their families?

been going on since march...why haven`t we read about it?......it`s that rascally media again...

funny how the press panders to the daily "what is cindy sheehand doing today" show

why dont they pick out a mom and dad who lost a child who support the cause their child died for? why dont they detail how proud of their country they are and how they think how valiant and brave their son was who died for our country fighting islamofasciist terrorists?

why why why? why just propagate leftist propaganda day in and day out?

it is sickening. i saw today some group made sheehan a big sign with her kid on it and of course she started sobbing and crying. and there is the media. nothing like searching for more anti-military sentiment. of course the leftist group was there consoling her in front of the cameras. doing a great disservice to HER AND our country disabling her ability to move on in her grief.

its pathetic and dispicable and anyone and everyone in the media should be a ashamed
