Outta curiosity, just wondering how many ladies and gents from the forum were members of either a sorority or fraternity in college.

I thought of this when lookin at the thread about going to Notre Dame campus, and for some reason i thought of hot sororities.

I pledged for one my first year at the university I transfered to after my freshman year. I guess I did it beacuse i wasnt playing football at this school, and I guess I was looking for a good way to get laid :0074

I didnt finish pledging, as i eventually realized that frat life wasnt for me, and the guys in the frat were D-bags.

Anyone have good experiences/memories being in one, or are they all cocksuckers regardless of where you are at?

I was pledging theta xi when i was there.....LAME except for the pussy that was around...

curious to see how many other people got caught up in this "way of life", which really it is.

any good stories?

I am a sigma nu... lots of good stories, the great stories can't be documented... to protect the guilty.

Fraternities and Sororities are very different. Most guys join a Fraternity because they have things in common with the guys in the fraternity... Chicks join for status.

If you have 2 guys that were friends and they went to different fraternities, chances are they stayed friends. If two girls joined different sorority, chances are they hated each other in 6 months.

Exactly.

Buddies of mine pledged. I went to a couple parties. They sucked because the movies in the 1980's about frat life put a much cooler image in my head.

animal house perhaps :toast:

and yes, i was expecting much different as well

More like 1 week.

I was dating a girl in college that was in one of my classes. She was in a sorority but she was fine and we had some great times together. A short time later she was voted president of her house. A couple weeks later it was splitsville. She became totally Fawked in the head almost instantly.

My son was a 4 yr member at Indiana. I didn't see the attraction but it really made him a more responsible person. I just told him not to be first in the "jerk" line. It wouldn't be fun.

It really depends on where and what type of fraternity you join. Some at my school were a total joke, but there were quite a few standup ones. I have also been to some other schools where my same fraternity was that way. Our fraternity was always top 3 in the 'major' areas (at least in my opinion) sports, academics, fundraising / philanthorpy.

It taught me a lot about responsibilty and how to run a business, since at the end of the day, it needs to be ran like a business or it will fail. I believe it set a foundation for me on a number of different levels. I had close friends (and are still close) that it just wasn't for them and dropped out.

This is definitly true and there are quite a few that truly are just that. I would say a majority of them are not... they definitely party and do outrageous things, but they are much much more than that.

Guess I will be the first to say I was a frat guy, Delta Tau Delta at UK, was VP 2 years and had a great time. Delts are tops and very documentable since that is needed on this site. Lots of great friends to this day and see them every year at the Derby as well as at least 1 home Football game. Life was fun, crazy at times, women always around, Sorority mixers every Wednesday night, but not like today where it is much more strict. Can't even have kegs on Campus. We had 3-5 keggers every damn Wednesday and some Friday's. (in the early 80's) :0008

I was Sigma Nu also. You've been spot on with all your comments. Pledging a fraternity isn't for everyone. Some of the brothers in the house would always say "it's the best thing you never want to do again." It's hilarious about the comments about sororities also as my relationship to my girlfriend at the time changed significantly when she joined one, and then eventually crumbled a year later.

Wasnt in a frat, but somehow a few of my buddies would be invited to their parties. Make a long story short, there was usually a fight by the end of the night between the frat guys and a few of my friends. Usually over chicks because of the pollutin of booze. :0074
