You heard it hear first from me! I guess Fred was far from being a 99% lock to OSU like Hellah said. This is no guaranteed rumor, but I been told it is from solid sources. Listen up and see if Davis announces tom. he is coming to USC!!! I hope it is true.

FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!

Your right. Davis was skeptical coming to USC because there is so much talent/competition at USC now and who they are recruiting. USC is after 3 of the best WR's in the nation, and most Trojans felt Davis was the longshot. Chow feels Jarret is the best in the nation, Carroll feels Davis is, and Colvin is right here in CA and the all star coach said he was the best.

Jarret been USC fan all his life, wears #19 (Keyshawn's #), and should be a Trojan.

Colvin is down to USC and Michigan, but rumor is he will be a Trojan.

Davis was the longshot but now looks to be a Trojan. He def. has the most upside of the 3.

There is a "chance" USC will land all 3 WR's. Simply amazing. Last year USC got 2 of the best WR's in the nation. How is Carroll doing this?

If the Davis get is true he is one of the BIGGEST recruits USC has signed in a long time. But, my point is, whether Davis works out and is big time is irrelevant. The fact that PC went into Ohio and landed one of the top 2 players in the state one year removed from an Ohio State National Championship is nothing short of phemonmenal. The number of 5 stars in this class has me wearing adult undergarments to keep from urinating down my leg. It's RIDICULOUS how G%=# D@&%!# loaded this class is. It's almost unfair. I feel like USC could become the Yankees of college football, or better still, some day they will call the Yankees the USC Trojans of Baseball.

God Blessed USC with Pete Carroll.

We are experiencing now an era that history will remember as the greatest of our storied heritage. We are in the salad days of a dynasty that will rise mightly. And some far-off day it will fall under it's own weight as all great civilizations ultimately do, but what a ride it's going to be.

This is Athens under Pericles.

Fight On!!!!

WR Fred Davis has committed to USC over Ohio State, Miami, and OU. That makes 8 five star recruits. Unbelievable.

This has to be the best class ever assembled, at least on paper.

I do have to say people sure get too carried away on recruiting. No one really knows how these kids will turn out. obviously USC has a great class, and some of those guys will pan out, but you can look at the 5 stars for year after year and there are MANY busts.

wow, im shocked....

personally i think this is a poor decision on Davis' part as he will have way too much competition to deal with. But SC got a fine athlete...thats for sure....the best Ive ever seen in Toledo...

good luck to him...

"I just think overall it's the best place for me," Davis told the Toledo Blade. "I just decided it?s where I want to be. I?m also part of the top recruiting class in the nation and it?s considered one of the best recruiting classes of all time."

The Pete Carroll Recruiting Train just keeps rollin' along!

Next stop, New Jersey. All abooooooooooooooard! Choo choo

Pete Carroll: #1 recruiter

Move over Mack Brown, Saban & Stoops. Pete Carroll has established himself as the #1 recruiter in the country.

This class is even better than listed. For instance, In addition to the 7/8 five-star guys that USC already has in the corral, there are a few guys that could/should be five-star guys.

Let's start with T Herring. He's the #6 OL in the US, but remember that there are 5 OL spots on any team. What would be his OT ranking? Top 2? Does this not warrant a five-star ranking?

Dale Thompson is the #3 TE in US. Why is he not a five star? At other positions, there are 5 star players that are ranked as low as #6...

Sekeli Faaeteete is listed as #12 RB in US, however, he is a fullback. To be listed that high in comparison to tailbacks, what is his national ranking as a Fullback? #1? Does this not warrant a five star ranking?

If you take this into consideration, USC would currently have 10 five-star players with Colvin still on the block. If USC lands Colvin, Jarrett, Jones, Germany & Rossman(K), I count 11 five-stars, 6 four-star, 6 three-star & 1 JC two-star for an average of 4.125 stars...

believe it or not.....on a side note....

Just to show how wrong these rankings "can be", Mike Williams was actually a three star recruit, the 64th ranked WR in the country. I trust the coaching staff's evaluation of talent more than any of the 'expert' opinions. That is the difference between Carroll and say Mack Brown. Talent evaluation and development. Nobody here can say that recruiting rankings mean jack. It is all about recruiting and developing the talent. Also, Carroll and staff evaluate every single player on their own. They do not look at recruiting rankings. That makes all this even more impressive because there is little chance these players will be busts.

USC and OSU are going to battle heads again on another recruit. JARRET! This guy is a stud too. USC wants them all.

The same sources that broke the Davis story explained exactly where Jarrett and Colvin stood regarding their choice of schools. Both have verballed to Carroll but will they stick with it? I told you all that Davis had verballed to Carroll and I was blasted and bashed. Look who is laughing now. :nono: I also said USC is building a dynasty. USC has ton of young talent coming back next year, TON of Soph. and Juniors next year, and then USC still getting all these blue chip guys? HOW? Dynasty baby! Nobody will stop USC in the future except USC as long as Carroll is the head coach. Carroll is right, the best offense and defense USC will face will be everyday in practice. Thats what he wanted and that is what he is "building."

What is 100% clear is that with an absence of competition from the other two, both of these guys would be Trojans. Whether they will be able to withstand the barrage of phone calls from opposing coaches telling each of these guys they will never see the field at USC due to intense competiton is another story.

It's the potential fear of competition that clouds the issue on these two guys. One or possibly both may get cold feet and go elsewhere. Both however have told the coaches that they want to be Trojans.

USC already has verbals from....
WR Davis 5-star
WR Bumpus 4-star

Last year USC got 5 star WR recruits Lewis and Smith. SCARY!

My very uneducated guess is that USC ends up with one of the two (colvin or jarret), and possibly Derrick Jones as well who is a 4star speedy WR. Jones is just a throw in guy for USC, and he is a 4-star recruit. Pretty sick, uh?

Recruiting is almost as fun as the season. Congrats to LSU and OU for having great classes as well. Oh yeah, remember I spoke about rumor about Peterson. Well it is a fact now. #1 RB Peterson is not so solid with OU. He has been contacting the USC staff and USC been still recruiting him. He still a strong verbal to OU, but I do know now for a fact that the suprise bomb is/was Peterson. I still doubt he de-commits and comes to USC. Makes no sense except to win National Championships and compete like hell.

word is Colvin is leaning towards Michigan.....

I agree with you Sun. Its great to have a great recruiting class and it does look good on paper. But crap, I could go out and buy a Lexas and the car could still run like a piece of sh*t unless it is used or built right.....

CA, Texas, Florida are the 3 richest states when it comes to football talent. Everybody knows that. Many can/will argue CA is #1, but lets just say it is a 3-way tie for #1.

Carroll is not recruiting but selecting in CA. He is getting anybody he wants. PERIOD!

Carroll also recruits nationally which is a good thing. In the last 2 years Carroll has recieved the verbal from.........

#1 player from LA: Booty (#1 overall QB in nation as junior in HS)
#1 player from CO: White (#8 RB nationally last year, and USC recruited the #1 RB in nation BUSH (CA) as well)
#1 player from CO: Byers (#1 OL in country and overall recruit)
#1 player from Minnesota: Byrd (#2 Tight End Country)
#1 player from Florida: Rivers (many will argue the other LB Williams is #1, but Rivers is the #1 or #2 player from FL, was promised to wear #55)
#1 player from Ohio: Davis (top WR in nation)
#1 OL player from Texas Williams
Stole Mike Williams from Florida (bonus for recognizing talent which is the most important characteristic in recruiting)

***Might get verbal from Jarret, #1 player from New York
***Might get verbal from #1 player from Wisconsin, Anderson

Again, CA is a RICH state, so there really is no need to go outside of CA. Carroll goes outside the state to get the national players, which he has done. These are recruits from last year and this year outside of CA. These were the #1 players in their state regardless of position. VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE. You cannot argue with this or compare with anyone else. Just 2 of these guys in 2 recruiting classes would be IMPRESSIVE. Think about it.

The most scary part of them all, Carroll and staff recognize talent and develops it. USC also offers 2 and 3 star recruits over 4/5stars recruits because the staff evaluated them. For example, Soph. Sartz, the starting LB at the Rose Bowl, was a recruit that many people laughed at Carroll for offering (said he would never play a down at USC). They do their own evaluations and do not look at rankings. Also, Carroll weeds out the busts/slackers out of his program. I "think" over 20 transfers and/or medical redshirts ;) in the last 3 years at USC. Only 6-10 players are still on the team from Carrolls first recruiting class.

Ask any recruiting expert who the #1 recruiter is in the nation. I already know Gregg Biggins (rivals) and Allan Wallace (superprep) said Carroll is #1.

Saw Fred Davis today on campus walking with Mike Williams. Hopefully he turns out to be as good as Mike. With all the talk about him, I thought I post a picture of him. He is on the far left. Davis is #4. Ginn, the #1 DB in the country, is #2 in the picture. Lets see Ginn guard Davis. :violin:

Are you just cutting & pasting stuff from wearesc.com?

Scott, you really need to settle down. Take a break from football for a while and enjoy basketball for a change.

Speak your mind and not someone else's. That looks really bad.
