The Web site junkscience.com is offering $100,000 to the first person who can prove that humans are responsible for harmful climate change. The Ultimate Global Warming Challenge says ? "If you think it's a no-brainer that humans are causing catastrophic global warming, here's your opportunity to earn an easy $100,000."

The Web site lists the specifications for the challenge and the contest rules. It's open until December 1, with the results announced next February.

--however there is one person that certainly wants no part of any challenge on subject :)

"Meanwhile another global warming skeptic is challenging Al Gore to a debate. This time it's best-selling author Dennis Avery, whose book "Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1500 Years" attempts to refute Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth." So far Gore has refused to debate any of the numerous challengers."

how about these apples:nooo:

Global Warming Taxes

Michigan Democratic Congressman John Dingell ? who chairs the House Energy and Commerce Committee ? plans to introduce legislation to fight global warming that includes a 50-cents-per-gallon tax on gasoline ? and the elimination of mortgage tax deductions on houses larger than 3,000 square feet.
Dingell admits the ideas are not popular. "I know I'm going to catch hell for them," he says. "If we are serious about global warming, we need to reduce consumption by making it more expensive."

Cybercast News reports critics are calling the ideas "ill-informed, misguided, and economically detrimental."

Yeah, great site...:142smilie

I tell you what, I'll offer up $100, 000 on a site if anyone can prove that God placed us all on the Earth 5000 years back.

There's plenty of evidence that easily gets refuted as circumstancial (re: global warming), just as there's plenty of evidence of evolution that gets scoffed at as blasphemous evil.

So you've found a site that preaches to the converted...nice work and good for you.

Didn't know it was an argument Chad--just trying to keep everyone updated on your parties solutions to mythical problems--and how it will effect them. ;)

--and Cristo--at least there are people willing to debate some issues unlike your father Gore--and don't believe debate on evolution ever had a trillion dollar price tag on the consumer.

The thing that always gets me, is that the people who believe God put us all here, created things in His own image...toiled night and day for 6 days to create a perfect home for His perfect beings...
...are also the ones who are quite happy to destroy it for our own selfish "needs"...and those trying to protect it are no good hippies! :142smilie

No problems with pumping raw sewerage into God's magnificent ocean.
No problems with cutting down 1000's of acres of God's magnificent forests each day.
No problems at all with wiping out entire species in the process...
...and I mean real, no foolin' critters, not those mythical dinosaurs.

I can just hear the nightly prayers echoing around the western world as we speak...
...Dear Lord, we give you thanks for Creating us.
We ask you to keep Uncle George functioning now his 'brain' has left him, and may he smite all Muslims quickly so we can get back to concentrating on killing other stuff you Created simply for our amusement.
Oh, and can you start planning your Second Coming sometime in the next couple of hundred years, when we run out of the fossil fuels (Forgive me Lord, can I say 'fossil' in a prayer?)...er, the oil we are greedily guzzling, so you can come down, absolve our sins, and fill 'er up?
Amen.

hey, cristo, where have you been? missed you now for a bit.

I do have problems pumping raw sewage into the ocean and with wiping out species. I guess you're talking about the rain forests in Central America, because I know in this country there isn't any deforestation. That's strictly monitored, and more trees are replanted where they have been harvested. Dinosaurs; seems they were here, but I don't know where they fit in on the creation timeline.

The museum that shamrock was scoffing about I haven't seen either, but I've heard it's really nice. GL!

Been deliberately steering clear of the "other" forum here, simply because I got a bit sick of getting into pointless arguments with (quite probably) good guys.

See!...Can't even help myself from becoming a sarcastic antagonist even in the General section!

Figured it's probably best sticking to sports...hell, even weasel makes sense when it comes to football! :scared :D

The thing I find amusing is bout 3 in this thread have been whining evertime gas gets near $3.00 a gal--yet have no prob about a permanant raise on gas prices --liberal logic at its finest :)

If some of the most powerful men in the world over the last 30 years weren't directly involved with oil companies and their 'anti-global warming' cronies, we'd all be driving electric cars and it wouldn't matter a damn.

How's that for irony? ;)

There have been electric cars for years--why aren't you driving one--same reason no one else does.

---and how come no one else in the world is driving these electric cars---everyone in the world in bed with oil companies:shrug:

Your logic would make you poster child for liberal logic.

With insight like that--you'd be a bookies dream--and probaly are :)
