Went to French Lick over weekend as a surprise on
my 60th b-day. Stayed at French Lick. West Baden was booked.
Room was clean but small as it was remodeled from old days. Staff was generally friendly but a little undertrained as in "I don't know" as opposed to "Let me see if I can find out."
One thing I did notice at the casino was the patience of the dealers with newbies. By the same token, some of the dealers (BJ) were incredibly slow. Okay for newby, though.
West Baden facility was pretty incredible considering the age of the original structure. General amenities were expensive in midwest terms. My sports massage was $135.
Nice, clean buffet at French Lick. $10 for breakfast, $13 for dinner. The upscale restaurant was booked for Sat. evening so I'm assuming it's good.
Played golf at the Donald Ross designed golf course. Beautiful layout in the hills of southern Indiana. Very challenging with exteme undulation in the greens. $110 w/cart, $75 after 12:00.
Overall good experience.
