Ole Miss +130 (@ Vandy) for 2 units ? The #14 Rebels are only dogs due to the fact Vandy has Junior Mike Minor pitching tonight. Minor is a pretty good pitcher who performed real well for the national team last summer. So far this season he has a 2.21 ERA in 20 1/3 IP over three starts. Minor did get roughed up in his only outing against good competition, a no-decision against Stanford. He also didn?t fare well in his outing last year against the Rebels. Ole Miss sends Sophomore Drew Pomeranz to the mound. Pomeranz has a 2.57 ERA in just 7 IP over two starts. Despite his limited work so far, Pomeranz is the real good deal with a good fastball and curve that is going to get him quite a bit of attention this year. He shut out Vandy last year in his only appearance against them. Vandy has racked up a good record to date, but hasn?t played anyone near the talent level of Ole Miss. Look for the Rebels to take 2 of 3 from Vandy if not sweep them to open up conference play.

Cal State Fullerton +130 (@ Oklahoma St.) for 2 units - #6 Titans against the #19 Cowboys. This will be the Titans second game today as they will face Rhode Island in a day game. They have altered their pitching lineup though. They are throwing their #3 starter against Rhode Island in the early game so their #1 and #2 can go against Okie State tonight and tomorrow. Sophmore Daniel Renken goes tonight and has a 1.53 ERA in 17 2/3 IP so far this season. Okie State counters with hard throwing lefty Andrew Oliver. Oliver has a 4.74 ERA in 19 IP. He has faced some good clubs this year in East Carolina and Oregon St., but can be a bit wild at times. Fullerton is better offensively than those clubs and even with forced playing 2 games today should be able to get the win.

Other thoughts about games this weekend:

Baylor and A&M are facing each other in a matchup of two Top 5 teams. However, the series will be Saturday-Monday due to the weather occurring in TX.

The San Diego @ Rice game for today is presumed to be postponed and a double-header on Saturday is likely. Whenever they play next, Berry will pitch but a price of -220 is just too rich against a capable squad in San Diego who haven?t played up to expectations.

Georgia plays at Alabama this weekend with today?s line at -185. Both teams have really good offenses with power. Georgia has three quality starting pitchers while Bama only has one in tonight?s starter Hyatt. Staying away from the game today, but will likely play Georgia on Saturday and Sunday.

Good day today going 2-0 today for +5.2 units. Ole Miss wins 9-3 and Fullerton wins 8-4.

Updated record 5-6 for -4.0 units.

On a side note there was one other game I watched that is definitely worth noting. Virginia beat Florida State 15-2. Now the Seminoles are down a bit this year, but take note of Virginia's Freshman pitcher Danny Hultzen. He came into the game with a 0.95 ERA, and went 7 innings tonight striking out 13 while only giving up 1 run on 4 hits. Virginia is now 15-0 and definitely a respectable club. They will have lines on their games the rest of this weekend as well as the next two weekends as they go against Miami and North Carolina. They will likely be dogs for most of those, so there is definitely some opportunity there.

See you guys tomorrow.
