1-1 yesterday for +4.0 units. Season record is 133-119 for +8.84 units. Let's move right in to today's plays.
Colorado -133 over Mets
I'm a big fan of Jennings. IMO this guy is the NL Rookie of the Year. He's 14-5 with a 4.12 ERA. In his last 3 starts he's a perfect 3-0 with a 1.83 ERA. He has won 4 starts in a row and has given up 2, 0, 2 and then 0 runs respectively in those last 4 starts. We all know about the Mets and their problems. How long can it go on? Last 10 games they are 0-10 and hitting .189!!! One other comment about Jennings before I forget, I love to play him at home. He's 8-1 there for the year and part of the reason why IMO is he's got a real nasty sinker. Throws it about 92-94 MPH (according to ESPN) and because of it opposing teams find it hard to get the ball up in the air off him. ALWAYS a good thing when playing at Coors Field. For his career Jennings is 2-0 against the Mets while Astacio is a disappointing 3-6 against the Rockies. Here's to making that 3-7 by tomorrow night.
Boston -195 over Anaheim Canbet
I hate the chalk but love Pedro at home at this price. Not exactly scientific data but think this has positive expectation. Will he win 2 out of 3? I think so. He's on 6 days rest as well. This Washburn guy is very good and has an outstanding record but you will see the difference between a very good pitcher and a great pitcher tonight. Pedro has a career mark of 6-1 with a piddly 1.39 ERA against the Angels. Boston has been hitting lefthanders very well and are 5-2 overall in their last 7 against the Angels. Must win for the Red Sox.
Houston -145 over Cincy
I love getting Houston here against a slumping Reds team. I don't care if Griffey plays or not. Though he hasn't pitched a lot this year Munro has impressed for the Astros. His ERA is a very low 2.59 and the team is 5-2 when he starts. Estes is 4-9 for the year (Mets) and is seeing only his second start in a Reds uniform. He will have a tall order tonight. The Reds are 2-8 in their last 10 gamse and the Astros are hitting the ball well. Their last 10 games they have been hitting .290 versus lefties and for the year they hit .303 against them at home. Heads up they have beaten the Reds 7 of their last 10 overall and 3 of their last 4 at home. To top it off Estes has been brutal on the road. He's got an ERA of 6.12 and a 1-5 record. Lay the -145 and be happy. Very happy.
Good luck gentlemen.
