just feel real good about the "fat man's" chances of shutting down the oakland lineup. wells has been damn near unhittable this year- yet is getting overshadowed by mussina's amazing start. very fair price for wells at home.

minnesota is almost an obligatory play as a dog here for one reason alone- bullpen strength. boston is obviously very tough at home, and the line reflects that. but the red sox had to come from behind in every game of that kansas city series, and grady little has no confidence handing the ball to anyone in the late innings. on the flip side- minnesota is dominant in the bullpen. lots of value with the twins tonight

jeez. twins bullpen apparently doesnt like to be complimented and commended for their work. i say a few nice things about em before the game- and they proceed to get hammered. way to hold a lead clowns

LMAO......Boston bully is an absolute joke. How demoralizing can it be for a team to fight back from a 5-run deficit only to see it's bullpen give up a 6 spot themselves in the next 1/2 inning. Middle relief is beginning to be an epidemic in this league. Most of these guys are either washed up veterans or rookies that aren't good enough to start. Most of these hidious performances are due to managers pulling their starters at either 100 pitches -or- any sign of trouble. What we have now is the evolution of the pitcher that is totally soft. They have no idea how to overcome adversity out on the hill or get out of jams because they are yanked in these situations (only to be replaced by a 36-year-old washed-up gas can in long relief) because everybody is afraid if they throw 101 pitches they will hurt their arms. Well, maybe, just MAYBE, if you can't get out of jams or sack up and throw pitches 101-115 without getting shellacked, then maybe you just don't have what it takes and shouldn't be a starting pitcher in the major leagues.

Amen Junior! My feelings exactly. This pitch count bullsh*t is so out of hand now. Remember when Nolan Ryan would throw over 150 pitches a game? I sure do. These guys and their multi-million dollar arms are so coddled now it disgusts me. What is the use in having Pedro throw 90 pitches and dominate for 7 innings only to let your bullpen blow his effort? I lost two games in April with the Dodgers because they brought Andy Ashby in in the 8th only to have his poor, old ass shellacked. You can find similiar situations with most teams I guess. I won a game last week with a pitcher who went the entire way---it was so refreshing. Of course, I don't remember my wins...only my blown losses in the 9th inning.
