YTD: 25-15

Usually I keep it to one play, but I'm giving out three picks for Friday night (listed in order of preference).

Brown -1 and Brown Over 144

Brown is just starting to hit stride with senior guard Martin returning to the line-up after back injury which seems to jell the mix with All Ivy pg Forte and Kilburn, one of the top post players in the league.

Brown was confused by the Princeton O on Friday night but came back Saturday night to beat Penn in OT.

Cornell is 4-0 in the Ivy but they haven't played any of the good teams yet, winning two vs Columbia and at Harvard and Dartmouth last weekend.

Brown has dominated the series of late, winning their L6 vs Cornell.

Both teams like to score and focus more on O than D. Cornell gave up 79 last weekend to Harvard (while scoring 92) and Brown scored 85 and 77 in their two games vs Yale, who plays much better D than Cornell.

Dartmouth +22

Princeton has defeated Dartmouth at Jadwin Gym in their L16 meetings by an average margin of 18 points.

But if you remember back to last year, we won with Dartmouth +21 when the final was 57-52. And the year before that Princeton was favored by 17 but only managed to win 79-68.

This should be a low scoring game as indicated by a total set at 111.5 and because both teams play the Princeton-style game. That also means that Dartmouth won't be fooled by the back-doors because it's the same game they play.

Dartmouth is near the bottom of the RPI list because they've been hurt by injuries...they're still not 100% but their players are all back in the line-up. Last Friday night they got stomped by Columbia at home with point guard Steve Callahan and frosh stud Leon Pattman out of the line-up. But with Callahan and Pattman back on Saturday night, the Big Green held their own vs Cornell, fading at the end to lose 68-62. Pattman, who has won rookie of the week honors five consecutive weeks in the Ivy, scored a double-double with 12 boards and 21 points on 8-15 shooting. G Lang is also recently back after missing 4-5 games.

Callahan, Lang and McLaren were members of the team which played Princeton last year so they know what they're in for...with the addition of Pattman I think Dartmouth can score enough points in what should be a low-scoring game to stay with 22.

The Wysocki departure for Princeton is bound to be a bit of a distraction but won't affect them talent-wise.

Princeton has three games in the next five days including the war with Penn on Tuesday night, so they're not going to get too crazy running up the score vs a bottom-tier team they've beaten 16 straight times.

Definately think you're on the right side of the game and total of the Brown contest.

Also, 22 pts seems like a hell of a lot in a game that will be so low scoring. Just not sure if I can pull the trigger on such a bad Dartmouth team.

Best of luck to you tonight...

Hope so BJ.

Brown is 18-6 at home L4 seasons: #3 in Ivy in this stat only to Ps.

Cornell was not a good road team this season until they played lesser teams.

I think Dartmouth will be better with all their players back; but there's no queston that Princeton is the better team and should win this game.

What are your thoughts on Columbia tonight? I think they cover easy. Possible small ML play.

SB-

REALLY like Brown tonight. Glad you are on it as well. I capped this game at Brown -7. Strong play here for me. Early Ivy GOY. lol

Also, I'm taking Yale tonight -10. I know that Columbia has played better, but their recent competition has been awful.
Despite the close loss to Princeton on Saturday, Yale played a solid weekend of basketball. Columbia still has problems. Only thing I see bad happening here is brother takes it easy on brother late in game, potentially resulting in a back door cover. However, I think Yale goes up 18-20 and stays up double digits rest of the way.

Also, a small lean on Penn tonight, and I can't bring myself to bet on Dartmouth They are awful and I could see Princeton winning right around the 20-point mark.

Good luck!

I side with the columbia idea. +10 in a game that looks more like +4.

Sorry guys, no access to MJs at the brokerage firm where I work, just got home.

Columbia turns the ball over a lot...they've abandoned the Princeton-style game for more uptempo...I think Yale matches up well vs them and Bulldog better D will result in a lot of easy baskets...I'd lean to Yale here but not playing it myself.

good luck.
