Do you bet a five horse exacta, tri and super tri box (each) on each race where you include four horses and the longshot play?

I was just wondering about your betting strategy for playing your picks.

Thanks and continued success.

Thanks Nosigar.

azbob,

I'll play Win, Ex Bx, Tri Bx and some Superfecta's. For example, yesterday Race 2 I selected the 4/7w/3/2- 8 . The first two horses are my Key horses for my Exactas and horses I play too win. So for the exacta I will sometimes play the 4,7/2,3,4,7,8. The Trifecta I usually just Box my 4 or 5 selections. As far as the Superfecta goes, I Box all of my selections. Now that I've probably confused you I will say this. I usually don't tell people how to play . People have their own betting styles and bankrolls . Some people hate Exotics. So for those people I would play my 2 Key Choice and my Longshot to Win. But if a horse get heavy action late forget it, not worth betting $2. for a horse that will pay $2.40 ya know. Exacta bettors, Key my First 2 choices with my other selections or Box all 4 or 5 of them. Same with the Tri's and Superfecta. Kinda depends on your bankroll. Now all that said, I watch the tote board, Exotics probables for Exacta's etc.. all before the race. Sometimes I'll post a longshot at 12/1 when I post and it will take heavy action, so I may not add it to a play ya know. But, I select 4 horses and a longshot with those things in mind. I hope this helps, if not let me know and I'll try again till I get it right. If I had time every night I would post my selections "Live" so these things little changes can be worked out. I like when bettors stay away from what I like, better value for me. All in all, if you play and use my selections and incorporate them into your style you can make money. Let me know if you have anymore questions or need me to be clearer. Thanks.

Thanks alot for taking the time to explain your approach. I am always interested in how others spread their wagers across various options (wps, exotics, etc) as there have been plenty of days when I feel like I did pretty well eliminating horses and being "in the money" but, my final tally fell short.

Thanks for posting.

No problem. I post when I can. I also keep my blog up to date daily with my selections also if they are not here. I've added them to Madjacks too because it seems like people will watch and hopefully cash as well. BOL tonight.

One more question.

Do you play with the online books for the horses? If so, are you getting full track odds?

I see your longshot came in on race 5 at CH today (Sunday) for a $2900 trifecta (just missed the show on that one). Are you playing at any books that would have made that full payout for a $2 bet or, like most of them, do they cap a payout at a certain multiplier of the orginal wager?

I use Twinspires for all my wagering. In the past I used Bovada and TVG. At Twinspires, the 5 horse went off at 20-1 and I was paid $42.00 on my $2.00 Win Wager, so I would say yes. But to tell you the truth I really don't know how the other books worked. TVG charged a $.25 wager fee I know but I believe they payed track odds. Not sure about Bovada, no fees I know but I would have to look back at my wagers since it's been a while. -Koz :SIB

Many online books have payouts on exotics like the max payout on a trifecta is 400 times your wager.

In that case, if the tri pays $2000 and you box for a dollar, your payout is maxed out at $400. That multiplier varies by book.

Maybe someone can weigh in on some specifics but, I have tried to book my racetrack action at online books that offer full track odds...there are not many of them.

FYI...the only reason I don't use TwinSpires is so that my $$$ are available for both racing and sports betting.

Yeah I hear ya. I have Bovada for Sports plus Local and Twinspires for the horses.
