DETROIT (Bonderman) Pick 'em over TORONTO (Chacin)

Though we have sung the praises of Gustavo Chacin in this space
before, this is not the time to ride the young lefty. Chacin has
battled elbow soreness recently (never a good sign) and he has
not completed six innings in any of his last four starts. He looked
terrible in his last outing, serving up three dingers in a loss to the
DRays. The Tigers have a lineup stacked with right-handed hitters
that won't give Chacin any time for a breather. His counterpart,
Jeremy Bonderman, has been working deep into games and has
been sharp on the road (5-1, +$435, 3.05 ERA). That, coupled
with a very strong Detroit bullpen, puts us in good position to ride
the away side tonight. Bonderman's stuff is very tough on
righthanders and Toronto's lineup is similar to the Tigers' in that
all the legit power comes from that side of the plate.

the White Sox will take care of the visiting Indians. After taking two of three from the Tigers this week, the Sox are now just a game and a half back of Detroit and they have some momentum.

The Indians had some mighty mo last week when they took three of four from visiting Chicago. But they've dropped four of six since at home and now they're on the road, where they're four games under .500 this year.

That one victory Chicago was able to claim last week at the Jake featured a rematch of tonight's starting pitchers. Cleveland's Cliff Lee was shelled in that game (seven earned in 2 1/3) as Chicgao rolled 11-0. Chicago's Javier Vazquez pitched six shutout innings that Memorial Day affair and he's 3-0 with 3.93 ERA in his last three starts.

Lee sports an 8.59 ERA in his last three starts as there has been talk that Lee has been tipping his pitches. Vazquez is 3-1 in his career versus Cleveland, including 2-0 this season. The Sox are a solid 22-9 at home this year and they'll roll tonight.
