i've been waiting for this game for some time. and expected a bigger line. so beware.
6-12 harvard (0-10 s/u and 1-4 ats on the road) comes to the palestra to play the 5-12 penn quakers (4-6 s/u and 1-5-2 ats @ home).
this game kicks off the ivy league schedule for penn, first time ever it's began in february for them.
harvard hasn't played a game since january 11th. 3 weeks since competitve play. in that time penn has played 3 big 5 teams in lasalle, st joe and temple. all losses, but respectable vs lasalle and most recently a decent effort vs. an improving temple side.
aside from those team, penn has faced the likes of virginia, villanova, unc and miami, fl.this season.
harvard opened the season with a 55 point loss at stanford, and beat michigan @ home dec 1. they also lost an ot game vs. uc irvine late december at home.
going back to as far as the 2003 season penn has won all 10 games these two have played, going 7-3 ats. harvard hasn't won at the palestra since 1991.
obviously this year's quakers are not as strong as their reputation, but i see plenty of reason to back them in this spot.
also, big question mark for harvard in F Pat Magnarelli, who injured his knee their last game vs dartmouth. he is listed as questionable, and may not play. he is harvard's leading rebounder (6.3 rpg) and second leading scorer (10.8 ppg). two double doubles in his last three full games. even if he does play, it's a recurring injury, and a lot of time off.
50/50 i make the trip to see the game. if you've never been, a big 5 or ivy rivalry game at the palestra is a must for any hoops fan.
good luck to all.
