this game tonight has me really stumped. i think any close call will go to the angels as baseball tends to police itself and the shitstorm that the media has done over this dropped ball incident. the problem is that everyone assumes the angels would have won the game. why would they have. its going to extra innings and its not like either team was crushing the ball. they did lose the chance to win, but by no means did they get robbed of the game. another thing i read a lot of was that ozzie guillen was an idiot for sending crede home. blame joey cora, not guillen. he had nothing to do with the guy stumbling to home. the third base coach has all that power. like guillen or not, he's a players coach who the players on his team love and he didn't blow that game. he hasn't done anything wrong in the series. even though the angels might get some calls it certainly doesn't mean they will win. i can't come up with a side, so i'll pass.
gonna break my golden rule of not betting postseason totals though. might come back and bite me, but well see. Garland coming off a really long layoff in baseball terms. no matter what he does, his control isn't gonna be what its used too and thats a problem for a pitcher that isn't overpowering. plus with the tight strike zones we have seen so far this is a major problem.
heres how some angels have hit garland:
cabrera 6 for 16 1 hr .375
erstad 10 for 20 .500
vlad 4 for 12 .333
kennedy 6 for 21 .286
finley 5 for 15 .500
he has contained benji molina and garret anderson though. but the sox haven't done all that bad against lackey. both pitchers have over a 4 era against their opponent lifetime.
lackey vs sox:
crede 3 for 13 1 hr
dye 6 for 26 2 hr
konerko 3 for 13 1 hr
everett 6 for 13 1 hr
rowand 6 for 11
the sox have some pop as well.
i just think we will see some base runners tonight with control problems for at least one pitcher. both squads have hit the other guy enough to drive those mistakes in. if wrong, well, i broke my golden rule. anyway,
