Duquesne -7.0 $6
winners! :00hour
Wazu Cougs -1.5 $6

E. Illinois +1.0 $4 LOSER

Oregon St. Beavers -3.5 $3

duquesne blows em out tonight, no "hostile" environment, should be pretty quiet and when a game on a neutral floor starts to get a little out of hand it's kind of easy for the team gettin routed to give up.

small board today but i like the small spreads here (w/ the exception of Duq) since E. Illinois is banged up and Wazu is on the road. Both of those lines have moved up at least a point so far and i wasn't gonna wait til there was no money available on the smaller line (you people on matchbook know what i mean--i think everyone should use matchbook, it's the best way to play i've ever seen, i think it's genius) Oregon St at home here wins by double digits or close to it.

Tigers -

I have looked at matchbook before but dont really understand all of it. I see like different lines, and then a dollar amount next to it. Is that the amount that you HAVE to bet?

Please fill me in a little bit more about matchbook, because it definetly seems like you can get some good lines there!.

well, you've got the different lines part right... for the most part when line movement occurs they just leave up the old lines (i.e. Duquesne -7.0 and -8.0 available right now) because if two people want action on either side, they're permitted to, matchbook only works for commission in providing a place for people to bet against each other. this means that the -7.0 is gonna be a little more expensive (in the -135 range right now) than the -8.0 (-104 right now). it's a more bettor-friendly environment than dealing with a book that charges extra juice when a line's about to move and missing chances before line changes. it's really fascinating.

the Market Maker will put up the original line each night/morning and if lines move they add alt. lines which are then open to the "market."

the blue boxes which have the odds have a little gray number, that's the amount available to be bet (that is being offered on the opposite side at the opposite odds ( joe's $22 at -110 vs. jim's $20 at +110 with the winner paying 2% ($.40 or $.44, respectively) to matchbook)

BASIC BREAKDOWN... instead of a bookie moving the line or odds, the people betting set it and it works like a normal free market with bids moving odds up and down. instead of paying -110 on all bets (which amounts to 4% vig) you pay 2% commision on all winning bets.

i've been on it for over a 15 months now and have loved every minute of it!

the live betting is crazy. there's more than a handful of times where the odds movement has allowed me to create a no-risk bet by getting such high odds on one side; in basketball, football and baseball!

THE BEST PART! if you buy (read "bet") one side and decide you want to decrease your bet or switch sides, simply buy the other side to decrease your total risk,

EXAMPLE: with a regular book: if you bet $110 to win $100 on Duke -8 and decided you wanted to change your bet to Clemson -8, you'd need to bet $220 on Clemson +8 to win $200 (now risking $120 to win $90... losing the juice/worsening your odds) and tying up $330 of your money til that game's over.
on matchbook: it'd go more like this... you bet $105 (or less, it all depends on the market, sometimes you get + odds on the favorite) to win $100 on Duke -8 but you decide to switch, you can now simply bet $200 on Clemson at--for example--+100 to make your bet now risking $100 to win $95 AND MATCHBOOK CALCULATES YOUR MAX POSSIBLE LOSS AND ONLY THAT IS THE AMOUNT OF YOUR MONEY THAT IS TIED UP TIL THE GAME'S OVER.

i hope that wasn't too wordy or convaluted. but if everyone would check out the matchbook site and read the HOW TO PLAY, DOLLARS AND SENSE, LIVE BETTING & SMART BALANCE pages... they're short and easy to understand i think everyone would be ready to switch. and the more people at matchbook, the more $ in the market and the better the whole place becomes.

i have no interest in matchbook other than helping the guys on here who all help me and to help make the place where i bet even better to help me.

i make a withdrawal from matchbook every week in the form of a bank check and usually within a week or 10 days i have the check in the mail, free of charge.

refuse to make bets when i'm drunk.

That's some will power. Been my weakness for years.:mj07:

Like the Cougs tonight. It's a bit of a look-ahead spot with Gonzaga coming up, but Bennett is a good enough coach that he will make sure WSU is focused. As long as Baylor doesn't go crazy from 3-point land (and WSU's nasty defense will go a long way in preventing that), the Cougs should pull out a decent win.
