OSU

Casey will go with his usual three-man starting crew of senior left-hander Matt Boyd, freshman right-hander Andrew Moore and junior left-hander Ben Wetzler. The 19-year OSU skipper sees a potential increased role out of the bullpen for sophomore southpaw Jace Fry, who is back after Tommy John elbow surgery last June and pitched twice last weekend against the Cougars.

"Jace could do anything for us," Casey said. "He's getting stronger and stronger."

Hurricanes left-handed sophomore Chris Diaz, a six-foot, 195-pounder out of Gulliver Prep, is slated to start the first game for UM against Oklahoma State in the Louisville Regional that begins at 2 p.m. Friday (ESPN3).

Diaz is 6-5 this season with a 1.75 ERA. He gave up six runs -- only three of them earned -- on eight hits and four walks in six innings during a 7-1 loss to NC State in the ACC Tournament last week.

The Cowboys (39-17) are expected to start 6-foot-1, 197-pound sophomore Jason Hursh (6-4, 2.65). His last appearance was a no-decision on May 23 against TCU.

The Cowboys have a .285 team batting average and a 2.93 composite ERA. The Hurricanes (36-23) have a .260 batting average and a 3.33 ERA.

Great thread Shawn. Thanks for putting it up.

That's a really good pitching matchup in the Okie St/Miami game IE pointed out.

FAU coach John McCormack today. He said the Owls are considering starting Jake Meiers in the NCAA Regional Tournament opener against Towson. The move would save Austin Gomber and Jeremy Strawn for potential match-ups against top seed North Carolina.

Probably not a bad call. One of the baseball writers I follow that has a good gauge on the national landscape labeled Towson as the weakest 3 seed in the tourney.

Lefthander Joe Maniply (6-0, 2.92 ERA), who seems to be over elbow problems that slowed him early in the year, will start for Virginia Tech. He features a changeup and returned for his senior year hungry to improve his credentials for the MLB draft. The Phillies took him in the 28th round last June.

Been out of the loop in the forum this year but u all are putting a lot of work into college so i figured id jump back in on the party

UNCW Junior Mat Batts (9-3, 3.07 ERA) will get the start for the Seahawks while the Elon Phoenix counter with righthander Kyle Webb (7-3, 3.66 ERA).

Florida Atlantic is holding off on pitching their left handers vs Townson bc UNC is a lefty heavy line up.
