Another La Russa favorite, although less this year than in the past.
Looper should have been able to put the fastball before the attempted squeeze into the outfield. He should have exerted himself a bit more to foul off the low inside pitch, or something. Hell, he could have dived into it and got a HPB, or a foul, or at least f'd it up enough to prevent the out.
Guys seem a little sluggish. They're just missing pitches, hitting flies rather than homers. Seems like many Cubs series are lower scoring on Friday series openers, then higher scoring on Saturday.
Looper squared around too early, and Lilly made a smart pitch, very hard to get at. Could agree with you, but that play often works. I'm more angry Looper didn't hit the fastball right down the middle on the previous pitch.
Mather Mathized another, second and third with no outs. Kennedy right-grounds in a run. Pujols walks. Ludwick the studwick walks. Stl 2-1, bases loaded with one out.
Great double play on potential sac fly to left by Glaus, Mather nabbed at plate on Soriano assist.

Glaus started the season slow. Then he got white hot. Lately he's been scooping, resulting in what he just hit, a high flyball rather than a homerun.

That did suck. Nine out of ten times they score that. Too hard to make the throw on line.
Not entirely sure Mather was out, but it looked good. Don't think two runs will do it.
