First, is anyone else having a really hard time capping right now? I can't seem to get a hold on these games, there are too many x factors involved. I seem to be second guessing myself a lot which I haven't all seaon long. Some teams have packed it in, some are liking the spoiler role. Too much right now, there are some great picks but most with heavy vig.

Second, since this is my 1st full NHL season of capping, can anyone give me advice for the playoffs? What differences are there compared to the regular season? What strategies or angles seem to hold up in 7 game series, for picks and O/Us? Is it usually a more profitable time of capping or is it more difficult that the reg. season?

I would appreciate any feedback.

Good luck to everyone

Saint-

I agree, there are some good spots to pick but unfortunately the juice is high- I can't get a grasp on the totals so I will probably not be playing any the rest of the year.

I like to play series prices in the playoffs more than indivdual games. Games tend to go under a lot more in the playoffs but the books compensate for this with lower totals, you will see a lot of 4 1/2 lines in the playoffs, I rarely play under 4 1/2 in the playoffs because a 2-2 tie will go over no matter what.

Good luck and keep plugging away.

I look for the 4 things when chossing teams in the playoff rounds.

1. Top defensive teams

2. Top road teams

3. hot teams/hot goaltending going into the playoffs

4. injuries

Fairly new to this forum, but have been following the NHL for years and I am in total agreement with you on capping these games. There just does not seem to be any consistency among any teams in the NHL recently. Usually you can ride a team that runs off a series of wins, but there is not a team out there that has had a consecutive game winning streak. I had the Kings last night up 4-2 with 2:00 minutes left and they end up giving up 2 late goals and end up in a 4-4 tie. I had the Flyers last night up 2-0 in the first , play looked strong Bruins come back and score 4 unanswered and Flyers lose 4-2. Strange last few weeks! As far as the playoffs, a system that has seem to work well for me in the past is to bet the away team the first game in the opposing teams building. Home teams tend to be nervous their first game of a playoff series in their own building, while the team coming in has a nothing to lose attitude. I have also had some success playing the unders in the playoffs. Defenses tighten up, players take less chances because they do not want to cost their team a goal and goalies more often than not step up. Hope this was of some help to! Good Luck$$$$

if the playoffs started right now I would be looking at these teams to win the first round-

East-

1. Boston over Montreal
2. Phila over the Isles
3. NJ over Carolina
4. Ott over Toronto

West.

1. Detroit over Edmonton
2. Colorado over Phoenix
3. Stl over Chicago
4. San Jose over LA

I realize that teams can move up and down over the next 10 days

I think the Toronto/Ottawa matchup could go either way

I also think St. Louis/Chicago match up could go either way

I find this time of year you get good results playing teams in the 7-10 spots in the conf standings. Those trying to hold on to playoff spots, and those trying to get in.
