if he goes up for a layup or other shot and gets hacked and shoots, but misses, I'm fairly certain this counts as a missed shot. Or i could be completely wrong.

Nope if you get fouled it doesn't count as a FG attempt.

Think about it how could Shaq have led the league in FG% during the Hack-A-Shaq era?

i understand in the stats book it doesn't count as a shot, just wasn't sure how a particular book would grade it. that is part of the problem with prop bets.

now nickelback, lets say he goes up for a layup and some ok st. player knicks his arm but doesn't affect it and the shot goes in. Now what. So its a no-basket?

just saying that books have wide discretion on these.

I think any kind of foul and its not recognized as his first attempt. . . that is fine with me even though it would hurt if he makes a shot on a foul attempt then misses a wide open shot when it counts against my wager

LOL, he actually shoots three pointers at a higher percentage than two pointers so that's quite alright with me. I'll take +145 every day with him

BTW Olympic has the same prop up for today at +140 Make/-170 Miss. I took the +140. I wonder if there is any way to get a % record on a player's first shot attempt...no idea where to find that stat.
