I took a quick look at the Gulfstream entries and saw that a horse named She's Cookin Now was running in the 2nd race at GP today. I checked with Brisnet to see what number: she was the 4 horse. I planned my lunch from work to go out and bet the horse. I planned on picking up a Form for tomorrow, so I figured I'd bet this one race blind. I saw the horse's last race and she dueled hard and still ran second. I figured she'd be in the 3-1 to 4-1 neighborhood. I get to the track and there's around 5 minutes to post. The horse is 7-2 so I bet it. The race goes off and the horse flies out of the gate to a clear lead. By the 1/8th pole the horse is in cruise control and destroying the field. Then I see the winner's circle: unofficial winner: # 4 English Tea. This had to be a mistake.....but the mistake was by me. It was the 3rd race, not the 2nd. In 20 years of going to the track I think I benefitted two other times like this. In this case, it was better to be lucky than good. Then I checked the chart for the 2nd: She's Cookin Now was beaten by a neck after leading most of the way.
