An American soldier is among three suspects being held in connection with a grenade and small-arms attack that injured at least 16 U.S. soldiers at Camp Pennsylvania in northern Kuwait, reports CBS News Correspondent Mark Strassman, who is on the scene with the Army's 101st Airborne Division.

Troops in a tent at the 101st Airborne Division camp in Kuwait were attacked early Sunday with grenades, and 13 soldiers were wounded, six seriously, military officials said. An American soldier was detained as a suspect, the Army said.

SAD day if true and it seems it is. Were losing more men to errors of judgement and accidents then this Turkey shoot. We may have a real war break out. I hope not. I have been in a war. So far I have not seen one. If we do get in one you will know the differance. Losing soldiers the way we have is very sad. We have lost a total of 2 men to enemy fire. Thank god for that. They all hurt even if just one. Now if we can stop the mistakes it sure would help.

I have to ask, was he Muslim?

Has it been ruled out this was somebody posing as a soldier who really was not?

Was he also hurt?

Finally, what is the worst and most immediate punishment he can recieve?

Since 101st is located 40 miles from Nashville.........the local news is all over this horrible story. The spokesman for 101st said he was a Muslim American. He is an engineer who the previous night was on guard of the grenade storage area.

How could this lowlife do such a thing????He tried to kill 20 of his brothers in arms. This is the worst act of cowardness Ive ever seen.Roll a couple of grenades into your commanders tent.He truly deserves to die a slow painful death.I just hope this is an isolated incident and there is no more Muslim Americans soliders that are trying to kill our own soliders. Can you imagine how bad the other soliders want a piece of this worthless bastard's ass............

surprising to say the least.

What do you mean by this........I know you're Muslim American and I believe you were an engineer in the Army.Did you expect this to happen? This should hit way too close to home for you.I hope none of the injured were your friends......

Maybe I said that wrong??? Surprising to say the least...as in -Iam surprised - that this would happen.

Yes Iam(still) a combat engineer prolly doing the same shit he was doing. And no, I definalty did not expect this to happen at all. When I heard the news break - I thought the 101st got ambushed or something...took me a while to realize that a US Soldier threw the grenade.

I dont know anybody in the 101st...but Ft. Campbell is a nice place :) Not sure about that red dirt you all got down there.

I hope those who are injuried are safe and sound. Lets just be happy that nobody died - considering it was a grenade.

Tv and papers are calling it "terrorism". I call it treason. Treason is punishable by death. God - $#&*.
This shit is hard enough without the helicopter accidents and this crap.

We can add that one of our missles just shot down one of our plaines. Dam were hurting ourselfs. The enemy so far is lost or went home. If someome would have told me three days ago we would have 24 dead. 3 by enemy fire the rest us doing it to our self. With all the traning and planning I would have said no way.

djv, any time you put that many troops and support in one place there are always accidents, just like there would be in a city of 300,000+ on a daily basis, only in this city everyone has a loaded gun. friendly fire incidents happened with regularity in every conflict in history, only difference is now we all hear about it instantaneously.

Loop I understand that. But were just three days into this. We have plaines runnng into each other. Our own missles knocking one down. And there is a possiabilty that small arm fire mayhave help the very frist copter crash. In the 91 war we lost a total of 11. at least that is what we were told. We need to stop these mistakes now. We could lose more to our self then the enemy.

djv we have 18-22 year old kids out there running a star wars type war.....very complex and will end up costing more lives by mistakes then a 1800's lets line up and shoot at each other would....

you have to accept this as a byproduct of the kind of war we are in....no amount of training and plannign will avoid this....each life lost is a tragedy but this is the best we can do and you should be proud of every engineer, soldier, general, radio operator, etc doing his best under immense pressure....

plus we involve the Kuwaities among other countries and when you do that coordination of things is even more difficult and next to impossible
