Honestly NYSF, how did the professional gambling career go, sorry if I missed it in this thread.

:nono: was younger, and dumber, in those days.....who could/want to deal w/the stress in that kind of career...though some, such as BDB can do it w/poker and do it well, it's gotta be brutal....maybe a good part-time income when bet sizes are big enough

NYSF, you should really reconsider your decision to post on this or any other forum.

Just sayin' . . . . .

I am by no means a professional gambler or whatever but I have started taking my online cash game poker grinding quite seriously. In December in order to hit supernova status on stars I played 83k hands at the $.50/$1 tables (10-13 tabling at a time). I ended up making $6300 + about $2000 in FPPs during this time. (brag post)

The money was obviously good, but I felt so dejected constantly due to the volume I was putting in and I just started to feel like a complete waste of life since I wasn't doing much else.

All in all, I think a life of poker grinding, although possibly profitable, would lead a person to a emotional/stress downfall. In order for it to work you would need a great balance of other activies and off days.

If you broke that down to $/hr you got paid about the same as a slave shop worker.

Put down the computer, go outside and say hello to society.

83,000 hands on 11 tables at a time divided by 50 hands per hour (guess???) would come to $42 per hour on $6300 of profit. Not the high life but not slave labor, either.

good point, although the 4k profit is never guaranteed.

The tables I play at all average at the very least 70 hands per hour with most being around 90-110.

As far as having no social life, most of my play was done between the hours of 1-6am after I had already done stuff w/friends and such during the day. However I did feel that I was pretty mentally taxed more than usual due to the high volume of hands.

I never want to play this many hands in a month again, but if I can pull even 4k profit a month playing 20-25 hrs/week or so, I'll take that as i'm still a full time college student for at least 2.5 more years.

The main reason why I decided to do this was to get the VIP status of Supernova on Pokerstars. There are many perks, one the notable being a free $50 entry to a Supernova only tournament each week with a guaranteed prize pool of 50k. Also FPPs can be earned alot faster which you can therefore turn into merchandise or cash. My play alone in December netted me enough FPPs for a 61 inch samsung DLP bought with 2 1k gift cards from onecall.com which I recieved through stars for 126k FPPs.

90-110 hands per hour??? 30-45 seconds per hand, wow.... Now that's some fun poker

do me a favor and open pokerstars... goto the 6max .50/1 NL tables then come back here... Why would I bother trying to make up something as stupid as hands per hour?

thanks.

Hell I don't know
The stay away from women line was suggesting to not get married! Hell I would definatly have a few girls every week as long as they didn't try to sponge off of me.

Hey NY, we did meet up in Vegas with Bsu cards, his 2 girls, agent, and Hippo.
