Guys should realize that bad things happen in games. It happens all the time. it doesnt mean the game was fixed.

however, last nights game would be the least suspected game of all time. if the refs were trying to fix the game they wouldnt have waited to the end of the game with the colts down 21 to start fixing the game. They wouldnt have let the bucs get up 21 in the first place. THey would have been calling holding all day on the bucs. from what i saw, BOTH teams had about 10 penalties.

While i feel AWFUL for those taht lost the game last night, it was just 1 game. And if you bet your whole bankorll on 1 game i feel bad but you have to learn money management.

Just an fyi. I completely disagree with you. First I want to clarify that I was on the colts last night, lucky me. But lets forget last nights game altogether. Don't even use that as an example. You did bring up a good point though. All these people saying that they are quitting cause of one game.....WHY, because they bet too much on one game. Stick to your units and you will be fine win or lose. You are correct that money management is the number one priority. As for those quitters, I do wish them the best of luck in their endevaors, but we all know be it one month or one year, they will all be back.

As for the fixed game theory, forget last night. Perhaps it was, perhaps it wasn't, it doesn't matter. You have to look at recent history to see that it has happened. Especially in the NCAA, so to say sports are never ever fixed is a joke. Maybe not a large percentage of the games are, but some certainly are. How about the ASU point shaving scandal? Why do you think Michael Jordan retired for a year to play baseball? Wait til that true story comes out....But I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I just want to say that it is possible for the officials to determine the outcome of perhaps for argument sake an NBA pointspread. Take team A laying 12 points at Team B. My theory is that the refs (in some, not all, probably less than 1%) of the games allow the game to be played as fair as possible until the final two or three minutes. Lets say team b is winning, oh well, cannot do anything. But lets just say team b got ridiculously pounded with action and this is a bigger game as far as national spotlightl. Now Team A is up by 14 with one minute left.....Outcome for the casual basketball watcher is already determined, ahhhh but how about for the money......These refs can EASILY determine the final score differential in a blowout game...it's not difficult.

Anyway, didn't want to ramble in your thread, but fixed games DO happen, at all levels. Maybe not a lot, and I have no opinion of last night, and not using that as an example.

But those of you who are just so gung ho and blindly state that games are not fixed, need to seriously open your eyes. It has happened before and will happen again. That is a fact.

Yep, both teams had 11 penalties. How about that weak running into the kicker call in OT that kept the Bucs drive alive? Or why did they call holding on the punt with 2 minutes left (holding was also called on the Bucs for the same play) that took 11 seconds off the clock and let the Bucs punt again, which wasted 7 or 8 seconds of time.

Let's see, 'we' (whoever they are) are going to fix a game but we'll let the other team get a 21pt lead with less than four minutes to go and then start the 'fix'. Makes ZERO sense. None what so ever. And we'll 'fix' the most highly publicized, marquee game of the week that would be under the most scrutiny if indeed something 'fishy' was going on.

Oh yeah, I'm sure Dungy and Gruden and the refs all met in a Red Roof Inn Sunday night in Tampa to "rehearse" the script. Ever try to get 4 people to agree on going to the same place for dinner? Or see the same movie? Now lets get the entire NFL to agree to script how all the results will pan out. Its ridiculous.

e-z, my point was that NFL games are not fixed. At least not in the last decade or so. There is too much money at stake. I cannot swear that there isnt one crooked ref out there. But there is no grand conspiracry to fix a game. Especially, not last nights game.

If you want to tell me that there is a chance that an SMU vs. ARkansas St. game in college may be fixed i would have an easier time agreeing. But as hoops said, it would make NO sense to fix a MNF game that is seen by millions of suspicious fans and then have the team you want to lose get out to a 21 point lead with 4 minutes left. And then give the bucs the ball back after a 4th down punt because of a WEAK running into the kicker call.

I am sure that if i had the bucs, i would be pissed, but i wouldnt be crying fix. Like EVERY gambler i have been on the losing end of plenty of weird backdoor losses. anyone remember a monday night game were a kick was blocked and returned for a TD to blow the cover against pittsburgh? I was on the losing end of that one so i know how it feels to lose a game on a BS call.

I can't take it anymore both skeeter and i played D1 baseball and in the minors even got to play on the same team 1 year, I have coached D1, D2 juco in fl and in the minors and my dad coached D1 fr over 25 years and have borthers who coach in D1 fb. i have 12 guys at last count in the show who i have coached. The games are not fixed i was around over 16 years and i never one herd of the so called talk, now boxing is dirty will not go as far to say it is fixed but it has influnece put it that way. But pro and college sports are not fixed college went out with the bc asu try trust me vegas will know when there is a fix and a colleg coach who makes 6 to 7 figures would also find out they would not risk their job, they might cheat all coaches cheat i cheated so many rules you can't help but cheat, give a kid a ride to school throw him a 20 to by some food or a little gas money for the car and in the pros forget it these guys make more money then a fixer could pay, this is not 1950's or 60's these guys pay more in taxes then most upper middle class make in a year cannot believe what i just read and i think these people really beleive it. The nfl has one of the tightest security systems that you could believe they know if a player is taking a shit at a place that has a dirty seat, or did not wash their hands.

Barking up the wrong tree trust me not enough money out there to fix a pro game like way back players make enough to live on. and i can assure you if something is fishey in the line movement vegas will shut it off and find out hell they are the last that would be on the fix lets see 25 billion $ casinos and the small amount of sports bet take they bring in or pay out yes they would blow their casino lisc. with the nvgc and major jail time for a fix. the same with any prop or college coach or player is going to get in on a fix because coaches and both pro and college as well as players make to much and college players know they will get caught.

if you have a bad beat and i have had a few the last 2 weeks people love to yell fix well no it is a lose that i don't even let it eat at me part of the game shit happens but if you get a lucky win then not a fix or luck it is you are just good. once on the field anything can happin from a coaching oe handicapping stand point. if there were fixing going on i would think as long as i and my family has been around and people i am good friends with playing pro ball not to mention the bookmakers and pro handicappers i know i would think i would of caught wind of it somewhere down the road. for get about it you guys yelling fix are barking up the wrong tree and that is a lock a word i never say. trust me to many people involved for it to happen and not get caught. to think a 23 billion$ casino or multi million$ player would fix a game is a joke, where would this bet be made for the fix off shore or vegas no way offshore is going to blow the wistle just as quick if they see something out of line hell they are trying to clean up thier act to show they are a liget business just like vegas . and the bottom line is money could not pay 2-3 people which it would take to fix a game at the least and other players would pick up on the mistakes made right away. It is games played where mistakes can be made and when they are funny things can happen. let it go your wrong trust me there is not enough money to fix a game and then try to bet into the fix to make a profit worth the trouble you would have itf you get caught and i love the people who blame vegas that is the biggest laugh like i said 23-25 billions in casino just to satrt and the money the rake in on vp and slots vegas would never get their hands dirty over a sports bet if it was up to vegas they would add more machines and inch out books because of the profit per sq ft. so vegas people would never risk their cash cow for a little sporting event trust me this thought and some statements are just flat out stupid. grow up you are going to win some lose some and get some bad beats and lucky wins it is the name of the game in sports and hancicapping in sports a player who lost does not say shit the game was fixed only a gambler a handicapper won't say that only a gambler, a handicapper will say the got lucky if asked about a win that was luck and not shen a tear over a bad beat but a gambler will cry fix on a bad beat and say they were good on a lucky win a handicapper would not it is long term and money management so 1 game should not even make you bat a eye in your bank but it does to a gambler not a handicapper. unreal and i will not respond to a single question more on this because it is stupid i just cannot believe some of the people relly believe this shit you my friends are gamblers not handicappers stay to the 9-5 job that brings you in a pay check every 2 weeks because with those thoughts you are not going to make bank in this business for a long term profit to help out your income you are just action junkies.

I agree with you, I'm not saying last nights game was fixed at all. But, it can happen, and does happen in all sports.

Now mind you, I don't necessarily think last nights was. BUT, lets just look at this scenario as a possibility, and I'm not saying at all that it happened, but it could have although unlikely.

We have to assume some things though that I think we can agree on:

#1 money was coming in on tampa both spread and moneyline hard. Line was moving with them. I hope we can agree on that. Ask any local, offshore, or vegas estabilishment... look at the line moves, tampa was the "public" play last night.

#2 its possible that the referees are aware of what a line is, and what it means to the outcome of a game. I hope you can agree with this as well.

Okay, now once again I'm not saying this is what happened at all, but you CANNOT take away the possibility of it.

Pregame: the referees are told by the powers that be (wiseguys, vegas, offshore, whoever) and are told only this.....Money is coming in hard and heavy on tampa -4 and moving upwards of -5 in some places. Any help can be appreciated. Obviously with a short NFL season and the absolute magnitude of the game, the referee will do NOTHING to affect an outcome of a game. He WILL NOT FIX who will win and lose the game. The game is too big and so is the NFL.

During game: (referee) well, this sux, there ain't much we can do to help this fiasco. We are calling the game correct, and the powers that be have to understand that. There is nothing we can do to help them.

Last five minutes of game: (referee) wow, indy is showing life. If they can honestly get that onside kick, they got momentum and a shot. We still aren't doing anything wrong.

Last 3 minutes of game: (referee) wow, indy is kicking ass now and we haven't done anything wrong. We will not jeopardize who wins this game at all. But, that strange 2 minute warning call makes you think twice.

Okay, now for overtime where everyone who is screaming non conspiracy says well why did they call that running into the kicker call. HERE IS WHY.......squares don't bet moneylines. 90% of money on an nfl game is on a pointspread if not more. Nobody cares if tampa wins on a field goal. Indy, still covers, tampa fans happy, and no foul play involved. Watch the line judge, he can throw a holding flag if he sees a receiver streak open in the flat. You think these refs cannot see if a receiver is wide open down field. Now for the interesting call of "leaping". Why not throw a flag on a 43 yarder. If the guy makes it, pick it up no biggie. AHHH, but he missed it......Now let him kick it again.....GOOD.

All I'm saying is what i've just wrote is a dream scenario which 101% probably didn't happen, but it COULD have.

My assumption is that shit happens and the game wasn't fixed at all. All the people who are quitting gambling on this game alone obviously have no money management, or are justifiably just fed up losing games in this manner. If the colts had won the game from the get go, nobody would be bitching, just another loss. People get fed up with how they lose. WHY, you either have the right side or the wrong side or you push. Those are the only three scenarios. Don't even watch a game if it stresses you out to much.

Once again, not saying this game was in any way tampered with, but it is a possiblity. Not tryin to argue with anyone, just trying to open everyones eyes as to why myself and others on this site play close attention to heavy line moves, and consensus on big magnitude games.

Great write up Fletcher - agree w/ you completely...as soon as someone loses a lot on a game it is a fix right? Wrong...the bottom line is anything can & will happen in a football game - so just cap the best you can - and let the game play out...don't assume it is fixed because you lost...or even if you won don't assume it is fixed...everyone needs to get over last nights game - it's over - and today is a new day...

What about the Jags/Chargers game going over the number in the last two minutes of the game? I would think that game would also qualify as a bad beat for all the under players. It was a strange ending with two touchdowns in the last two minutes of play, yet I didn't hear anybody complain about that one. I had the over and was pleasantly surprised. I thought no way that game was going over. And last night I had the Bucs, do I guess it does even out over time.

On a side note, Fletcher have been following you for a few years here now and just wanted to say thank-you for all you do here. You certainly don't have to give out as much as you do but I for one greatly appreciate it. I don't play a single game without checking your threads first. I am by no means a "big" player, but cash is cash and you are one of the best I have seen. Thank-you.

The odds are definitely against any of thosehappening, yet it happens. Its called gambling. NFL games are not fixed. If you want to bring up a boise st. vs. UTEP game from 3 years, i may listen. Otherwise, take the bad beat and move on.

But guys look at those book lines, shit fire, when u see line like -130, -140 and then it goes to -150 they are begging for ur money and that is what i saw last nite. They should have moved the line and didn't because they wanted the money on Tampa and far as fixed, I don't see how he could be possible as much as the mfers are paid. But I am just giving u a heads for future pics.

CG you hit the nail on the head the book took a stance and started to move the money not the line and hook was set in the mouth and they just reeled them in, no casino or players are going to risk money they make for a fix, and these guys doing the lines are as sharp as they come for the most part and here is something i know for a fact not many of them know much about the sports to where they could make money as a pro handicapper but they know how to make a line and work it, there are a few guys off shore now that are big time players who do have a clue but your line guys are numbers men and not really sports people laugh if you want but it is true. and they do not miss many marks.

Bottom line, there are so many games being played each day, week, etc., there's going to be times when you see crazy endings or bizarre things here and there. The games would be extremely boring if you never ever had an exciting or dramatic ending. If you keep making the excuse that the games are fixed when strange stuff happens, you're not going to improve much as a handicapper.

Remember, the games are played and ref'd by humans and as professional as the players or referees might be, they're still going to make mistakes at times but what do you think gets the Pro atheletes to the playing level there at?? It's not only talent, but also determination and there drive to win. If you think the games are fixed, why are you betting them? Seen a lot of very unintelligent posts imo lately on this subject, but gimme a break...THE GAMES ARE NOT FIXED!

Also one note that's a little related would be all these "trap" games people talk about. Next "trap" you see, research it inside and out and then see if you feel the same way. There's no such thing if you ask me.
