Little early for me but played this one just now think it will drop by game time below key number. Took bc+7 ov wvu avg play. Wvu should win this game they have owned bc in Morgantown and since the start of the big east from the 80's on. But wvu still makes bone head mistakes upfront with movement and hurt them in va.tech game Rich has worked all year on this but when you change speed of the plays like they do, they have 3 speeds of snaps and change play sometimes twice at the line it is hard for linemen to hold their ground thus a flag, also they have got stupid holding calls well away from the play at times.

Bc will not shut wvu running or passing game down and wvu will win the game but 7 points is just a tad high i had it at -3.5 or 4 tops. This game will end up I say around 31-27 wvu in that range.

Now if wvu gets up fast it could turn into a 10+ point win but think my work up is more on, wvu has now gone with 4 deep in backfield which makes it a long day for bc also they wvu did get to rest all starters on deff for much of the 2nd half they went into 3 string in the 4th qt so deff will be well rested as will the off they used 9 wide outs and tight ends 6 running backs and 3 had 8+ carries for over 60 yards each and Marshall had 82 yards on the ground but really did not run much or have any hard runs. so wvu is well rested on both sides of the ball but think it will still be a wvu win with bc staying within the 7, would not wait till sat because you won't have that 7 IMO.

good luck will have more late thur for the week but would play this one now.

You're right...For some odd reason, BC becomes slow and soft whenever they visit Morgantown. Personally, I think WVU wins in big fashion. Rich has been ripping the defense in the media and i expect them to respond by shutting BC down. Good Luck!

WVU hopes to kick it up a notch down stretch
Tuesday, November 09, 2004

By Paul Meyer, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Intensity has been a fickle factor for West Virginia this season.

It has been there at times. It has not been there at others.

Sometimes it's missing for an entire game. At other times, it has been there for part of a game.

Once in a while, it has been there only when it was absolutely needed.

But the Mountaineers have reached the point in their schedule where their intensity can't be on the sideline for even one play.

It's make or break time for West Virginia.

"We're sitting where you want to be," coach Rich Rodriguez said. "It's all out there in front of us."

The Big East Conference championship. A trip to a Bowl Championship Series game. A final ranking in the top 10. Maybe, with a win in the bowl, a top five.

All there. And all gone if the Mountaineers (8-1, 4-0 Big East) don't crank up that intensity, beginning Saturday against Boston College (6-2, 2-1).

"Our intensity level has been poor the last two games," Rodriguez said. "But I would be shocked if we're not at an emotional peak [Saturday]. The one thing I'm not too worried about is our guys getting excited."

A win against Boston College would just about assure the Mountaineers of the Big East championship. If they follow a win against Boston College with a victory at Pitt Thanksgiving night, there will be no question.

In addition, the Boston College game is the West Virginia seniors' final home game. That alone should guarantee a full charge of emotion.

"We know what's at stake," senior defensive end Jason Hardee said. "We have to come out with all guns firing. We know if we win, we're guaranteed a BCS spot. That's been our whole goal all season."

Thing is, almost all season the Mountaineers seemed to have played on cruise control much of the time. That hasn't hurt them -- except for the hiccup at Virginia Tech Oct. 2 -- but they also know it's time to click off the cruise button and push the gas pedal.

"I think that's a good way to look at it," junior safety Mike Lorello said. "Basically, this is the season right here. This is what we've been looking for for a long time. I think everybody realizes how hard we have to prepare this week.

"As far as our inconsistency with the intensity, that's on the players. People need to step up and keep that intensity up. At times we've been A-plus. At other times we've been subpar. We just have to get more consistent -- especially within games. We play really well in games, then in the same game we don't look so well.

"We have to get more consistent -- and [this week] would be a great time to do it. I'm pretty confident we're going to prepare as hard as we ever have."

In the past two games, the Mountaineers quickly went out to 14-0 leads, but Rutgers and Temple almost just as quickly rallied to tie the scores.

"We have to do something about that," Lorello said. "Some leaders have to step up on defense. We have to keep the chemistry together. When we have them down, we have to keep them down. That's something that has to get better before [Saturday]."

"That's not going to be a problem," senior tailback Kay-Jay Harris said. "We're hungry for it. That's what we've been talking about -- winning the Big East. We're one game away from reaching that. I know everybody is going to come out to win it [Saturday]."

After the win against Temple, in which he was a key performer, senior quarterback Rasheed Marshall calmly laid out the Mountaineers' plan for this week.

"This may be a little bit more than [just] another week," he said. "But we just have to prepare throughout the week, then Saturday go out and play. We won't change anything, especially at the rate we've been going. We've been winning games. There's no need to change anything. Just stick to the script."

Well, perhaps a little editing of that script wouldn't hurt. The Mountaineers could tweak the intensity page a tad.

NOTES -- Harris was named Big East offensive player of the week for his four-touchdown performance against Temple. ... Boston College freshman linebacker Brian Toal, who had 15 tackles in the Eagles' win against Rutgers, was named the league's defensive player of the week. ... West Virginia sophomore running back Erick Phillips, who hasn't played this season while rehabilitating from reconstructive knee surgery a year ago, "more than likely is not going to play at all," Rodriguez said. The Mountaineers probably will appeal for a medical redshirt year for Phillips.

Wilson if Rich did not want to get so pissed he should leave starters in the whole game, hell they have only played full games in tech and Maryland the rest he has taken out guys at the half or even in the 1st half at times when they were rolling then expects them to be at the same point when they came out, but that is hard in any sport after you lose your pump for even 2 sets of downs, but it is good to have been able to go deep and was really happy to see the rs come off of p.willimson in the backfield, but rich is rich he wants everything perfect and it is a very hard off and deff to run, so on some things i can understand when he is mad but others when you have the 3rd string deff mixed with 2nd team shit happens, then bring starter back in and takes him a few plays to heat up.

Have you seen the rb from long island? this kid is a stud he is the next earl Campbell i saw him play twice this year on dtv he has shattered Amos z's rushing records and he is great with the books and great kid, he is 6'1 235 can fly and major power. You will love him.

Bc does get in a funk at touch down city and that is why i said if wvu gets out early could be a blow out 10+ bc will need to play reg deff because everyone who has tried to stack since tech Marshall has burnt with the long ball. You going? I am going with my dad and Donny Retton to the bowl game , win this week and got a nice trip just hope I don't end up in fl because of a loss to bc want to taste sugar will be my 2nd sb first was not to fun back in 93 we scored first and fast against fl and never scored again, that was painful, also was in az in 88 when Harris broke ribs 4 play of the game and lost nc title to nd, I was told if they did make orange at the start of the year I could not go I am the jinx of title games:D

We have to meet up this year i am sure you and Stevie are going right to bowl game?

Fletch,

I haven't missed too many bowl games...was at both the major bowls 88 and 93. Will be going this year, too! (Maybe I am the jinx)

Jason Gwaltney is definitely the real deal. He verbaled early to us...Ohio St and USC are now getting involved :cursin:

I hope Rich can close the deal on the kid. I already love him!

Oklahoma -29 is a Lock. Neb players on def aren't playing for the D-Cordinator. Lots of problems in Neb. Daily will have a tough time with the pressure of Okl D. look for 4 INT +2 Fumbles which Okl turns into points and route Nebraska.

BCJ920 If you are so smart then lets see which one of us can pick a game or two on our own and see who is the smarter one. You don't have to always have someone tell you what to do in life do you. Your posts are really high too so doesn't look like you have been on here long. I think you need to grow up and quit being such an ass to people. That was nothing but a tip that I read in the paper in Lincoln so there you have it.

Eric,
Any thoughts on the total? Seems like both these teams have a trend of scoring more in the 1H.
Thanks & GL

post some tips or inside info plays when you get them. I need to teach my players a Le$$on this week. What's your best play for the week? I'm going to Vegas soon and need to load up on a game to finance my Excalibur trip.

So Cal
Always great to see guys with 2 and 7 posts respectively putting in their 2 cents. Well, in this case, a lot less two cents.

Dear Deakster,

Dear Deakster,

First of all Dickster, don't question my intelligence. Secondly,I don't need to win a contest, I'd rather take everything here and put it together to beat my bookie. Third, No one on this forum tells me what to do, they tell me what they are going to do, and I then put together my stuff with theirs and see what happens. Fourth, I never said a damn word about my # of posts, i'm more into quality than quanity, something you may want to look into. I've been here since 2000 or 01 I believe. Lastly, don't take TIPS from sportswriters in the newspaper in Lincoln. So there you have it, you jackass!!!
Sorry Fletcher for this Bullshit...good luck sir!!!

eric,
I don't give a rat's ass what these guys say, all I know is that you and several other cappers on this board have taught me plenty about the business. I follow the picks hear religiously and have learned money management and now I am slowly watching the bankroll start to build. I hope to participate in one of MadJack's SB parties to meet all the great members of this forum. Please let it roll off your back and continue posting. You have a tremendous following here and I'm proud to wave the Fletcher Fan Club Flag. LOL.
