just came home for lunch, was watching that damn game on my pager, that is the worse bad beat i have ever had in any sport, thats = to be up 21 points in football with less then 4mins in game and not being able to hold on,if cubs dont win can astros come back and win game 2 to close the lead by 1/2 game which is still big.this is a big game for them.but knowing baseball that really puts them in a jam and bucs might keep playing starters to go for sweep. give me your thoughts.

people say i'm NUTZ, but i'm playing the law of averages and says houston gets a spiff....errrrrr...split.
wink.gif

I'm putting my money where my mouth is and I have 6 untis on HOUSTON in game two.
But REMEMBER:
THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED

if i lose this game two huge, for those smart-asses out there, do not say," I told you so..."
This pick in NOT on emotion, it's on stats that say MOST double headers this season have split.
good luck to you all.

How will Astro's react, and will they show up with any fire in their eyes. I don't think it is a game to try to make a big recovery, just my opinion.

Fletcher:

Truly one of the worst bad beats I've seen happen in quite awhile. You asked "us" out here about our opinions re game 2, but I'd like to encourage you to draw upon your coaching skills and experience and tell us what your gut tells you.

From strictly a coaching perspective, if you're a heavy underdog like Pitt was and you've just made a huge come back win like that, do you go for the throat and burn all ya got to try and win game two?

Or do you stick to the original game plan you had for game two and just be grateful for the one win against the stronger opponent?

Dunnno...what do your coching instincts tell you?

I was burned by the Astros too, but also by the under (as they scored 4 runs the last 2 innings before the 7 run bottom of ninth debacle).
I need to see the starting line-ups in the 2nd, but I am almost certain I willbe on the Astros.

wow, psychologically, this one hell of a blow for houston, and pitt is on cloud nine.

i would not touch this second game. actually, if i did, i would look for pitt to put the nail on the coffin. houston has failed miserably in the past in this type of situation if i am not mistaken.

tv, doesn't the home team have an percentage advantage in the second game of a double-header?

i think they will be fine mentally, this team is still loaded with veteran leaders like biggio bagwell and alou. bagwell sat in game one so he should be back and they get to go against a lefty, which usually is good news. however i thought last night was an even better spot for them against beimel and they hit about as poorly as possible against that mediocre lefty. i think anderson is definitely a step up from beimel and i dont really know what to expect from mcknight. seems like this is pitt's playoffs right now. dont know if i will play it or not.

talking about bad beats had astros/pitt to go over the past 2-nights and of course both games went under. Took astros in game 1 and got screwed and the game went over. Still played game 2 to go over and if it don't that will be 0-4 for me in this series. Personaly I will be tickled to death if I get this over and will not lay a cent on the side.

as a coach i know what to say,but i also know that its a pep talk you cant yell because its a fluke and you say that, but from a player stand point they will be down i dont care what team it is and a coach knows this, you cant get a worse felling in the gut then they have now,if pittsburgh scores first it will be all over.
astros will be walking on egg shells the whole 2nd game. you dont shake that in 5 mins, even if you say its over its really not.
i am looking for a reason to play astros and big.just dont know,i will see how dodgers go ,i think the angels is a strong play, will know in a few hours what i am going to do.a beat like that in a double header is the worst thing that can happen to a team, its far worse then the extra inning 1 run loss on a walk or an E. that loss can really screw a team up for a few games.
