This might help put things in better perspective in light of all the hysteria in the media.

Do you think a gallon of gas is expensive?

Diet Snapple 16 oz. $1.29??? $ 10.32 per gallon

Lipton Iced Tea 16 oz. $1.19?? $ 9.52 per gallon

Gatorade 20 oz. $1.59????? $ 10.17 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz. $1.25??? .$ 10.00 per gallon

Whiteout 7 oz. $1.39 $ 35.42 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz. $3.15????.$ 33.60 per gallon

Scope 1.5 oz. $0.99??????.$ 84.48 per gallon

Vick?s Nyquil 6 oz. $8.35????$178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 oz. $3.85??? $123.20 per gallon

And the real kicker?.

Evian Water 9 oz. $1.49???? $ 21.19 per gallon?for water ? and the buyers don?t even know the source.

Next time you?re at the pump, be glad your car doesn?t run on Evian, Scope or Whiteout, or heaven forbid Pepto

Bismol or Nyquil.

Those numbers are great and all but there's one flaw with the comparisons in that context...your average person doesn't drink 1 gallon of diet snapple per every 25 miles they drive in their car. That would mean for a 200 mile road trip, someone drinking 8 gallons of snapple. I hope they figure in time to stop to piss every 20 mins.

OPEC today said they will decrease production over next 3 months. They are stricking it to us. Lets see how Bush handles his friends Saudi and the other Opec buddies. For that matter all his Texas oil friends. Keep stick-en it to us. Or is Bush going to stick up for us.
Wareagle they forgot milk $1.88 a gallon. But then who drinks a gallon a day.

Toast thats BS. And if they had drilled there. They would have need to start 6 years ago for us to have any of that gas to use today. And of course lets not forget what comes out of Alaska today. 1/2 goes to asia. Japan and Korea. So dont let them fool you. Just think all they need to do is get our autos and trucks to average 2 more gallons to the mile. We would save more then all the oil they can get from whats left in Alaska. But no they fight like hell getting that done. So Alaska would not do a thing for what is happening today. The way to beat these folks is to get our shit togeather with many other forms of transportaion.

So in 4 years when we get a spike in gas prices then we can argue about drilling in Alaska? And about Japan and Asia. The fact remains that the less control OPEC has on our oil will give us more leverage. No matter if you export or keep it.

I agree on alternative fuels/energy for trans. But that was and still is way further away than if we drill. We cant just wait 20 years for a good option. We need to do both.

Bush Admin. has given more money too alternative fuel trans. than Clinton did in two terms!

I agree that our priority should be to raise MPG, but what message is the American public saying when the most popular vehicles are the gas guzzling SUVs. Do we really care how much gas is?

I know that everyone has to suffer no matter what car you purchase, but if you are not required by work (including housewives who have to tote kids around) and you drive anything but a hybrid you really don't have much ground to stand on and complain. You can easily cut your personal gas bill by up to 75% by buying a gas-conscious cars. Everyone wants to point fingers, but noone wants to start at home. I think they have a hybrid SUV on the market now, too.

Are we under a contract to give our oil away if we dig in Alaska, djv? I've never heard of that. I would be curious as to what you meant by that. I wouldn't be surprised after seeing several of the deals we have done over the years, but I have never heard of this particular one.

It is the refining capacity that is driving the Gas price up, not so much Oil prices or availibility.

That wasn't the point of my post, it was that those numbers are meaningless because people have no need to consume gallons of that other stuff. People need gasoline to basically survive now, but they don't need 20 gallons of soft drinks per week.

Dawg the company in controll of Alaska oil right now is not complete American. BPG is in on that deal now with Exxon. I can not remember all reasons why we send so much to asia. But the oil company is not forced to sell it all to lower 48. Hey Exxon and BPG get evenmore for it selling it over seas. GREED. Someone said Clinton did not offer much money for other solutions. Such as fuel cells higher milage autos. Cleaner ways to burn coal. The serch for more gas in Colorado. Then today we here the amount was upped over his last 4 year 300%. So I guess were wrong there to.
Hey were part of the problem big time. We believe we should be better then the rest of the world. Have the cheepest gas. But used the most energy. For sure our large cows were driveing dont help. I guess I dont know why more folks cant drive cars that get 30 miles to the gallon. There are many very nice models that do just that. We need to work on saveing. We can drill but it,s not the answer. Because soon there is no place left to drill.
I just can't undestand Bush jumbing right down Saudi ass. They were showing Bushs remarks today when he was runnig for Pres. He told Al Gore better tell your friends the Saudis to up there output. Maybe he should practice what he says. It's funny it always takes the American people to get pissed before anyone in Wash DC says anything. Why the heck cant we have soemone say something before that. This has been oncoming for weeks. Not a word said. Wheres all that oil were getting from Iraq going. Everyone sitting down. Some is going to France. Our Buddies.
