good! fvck him!

The Commercial Appeal has learned that the Grizzlies have traded Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers for center Kwame Brown, rookie guard Javaris Crittenton and first-round draft picks in 2008 and 2010.
The decision was made that the Grizzlies could no longer move forward with Gasol on and off the basketball court.
The deal allows the Grizzlies to gain salary cap relief, as Brown is in the final year of a deal that pays $9,075,000.
Also today, a Grizzlies source said that forward Stromile Swift has been traded to the New Jersey Nets for center Jason Collins.
The Grizzlies and Nets have been discussing a deal for the past week, and it is expected to be finalized on Monday.
To that end, Swift had a meeting with Griz coach Marc Iavaroni and general manager Chris Wallace Friday, was sent home and did not practice with the team. Swift will not play in Saturday's game against Utah at FedExForum.
More details as they develop.

Think that works for both teams.

Brown is a bum, but gives them cap relief at the end of the seaon which is what the Grizz wanted.

Crittenon (sp?) could be a nice PG. He has great size & quickness.

1st round picks never hurt either.

Lakers get a big man which the desperately needed while Bynum is down.

When he is back they have a nice team.

PG Fisher & Farmar
SG Kobe
SF Odom
PF Gasol
C Bynum

Solid bench & depth to boot...

Wow, the Lakers made out well on this one. If Gasol kicks it back into gear they will be a very very tough out. I'm not sure that doesn't make them the fav or second behind SA in the west. Damn that was a big move. I'm shocked, Kobe has to be happy as hell.

Probably the only guy who could make it work w/ the cap.

6'5 makes Critt a very different option at the point....

I think the Lakers make a run at Kidd. Trade Odom, Farmer, Mihm and maybe something else. I know they don't want him going to Dallas. Then they'd really have a solid lineup.

I don't want that trade!

Getting Gasol gives the LAKERS a BIG 3 with KOBE, PAU, and ODOM for now, but especially once BYNUM is back. Fisher and Farmar are better suited for this team, and I want to contend for years, not the next 2 or 3. With LA giving up Crittendon, and the picks, plus I understand they are giving up the rights to GASOL's younger 7'1 brother Mark, they need to keep the youth. I love KIDD, but he is going to be 35 and may only be able to help the next 3 years. If you can get KIDD without giving up FARMAR, I say ok. But the LAKERS 2nd unit with FARMAR, ARIZA, TURIAF, WALTON, MIHM, SASHA, etc is better than almost anyone in the league, and then when you put up KOBE, FISHER, ODOM, GASOL, and BYNUM to start.... well, that looks like contenders for the next five years or more.
