The report is out. The long-awaited Pentagon study says gays serving openly is no problem.
However, the right-wing luddites in the Congress remain opposed.
John Boehner and his ass-licker Eric Cantor intend to follow the lead of their hero, James Strom Thurmond.
Thurmond supported racial segregation with the longest filibuster ever conducted by a single senator, speaking for 24 hours and 18 minutes in an unsuccessful attempt to derail the Civil Rights Act of 1957.
Strom's remarks are too loong to repeat in toto, but Boehner/Cantor can parrot part of them -
We can't be having our white boys serving alongside niggras. Everybody knows those niggras is cowards and will run and hide. We all know that they's scared of guns, and can't shoot straight. No sir, we can't be letting those niggras be getting all uppity, think they is just as good as white folks. We got to keep those niggras separate like God Almighty intended. God wouldn'ta made them balck if He wanted them equal. No sirree, God intended them to be servants and such like and that's how come He painted them with the tar brush.
James Strom Thurmond, January 23, 1956
