Appreciate the info. I myself will be taking Alabama +7 (imagine that) and feel pretty good about it. Yes, we may be a year or two away from full force sabanites, but having 15 freshman starters all asked to step up and take leadership roles has surely matured us since last season.

Comparing the games, it's probably arguable that both teams so far this season are equivalents:
Alabama played 2 cupcakes, 1 low-tier SEC team, and a non-conference game.
UGA played 2 cupcakes, 1 low-tier SEC team (albeit close), and a non-conference game.

IMO, UGA probably has an edge at skill positions and Bama has an edge on both the O/D line. I would rather have the O/D line edge to maintain the momentum in the trenches.

The point I'm getting to is that emotion will play a very large role in this game and either team has a shot at taking home the W. All things considered, +7 seems generous.

*side note: I love the hype surrounding UGA in this game and lack thereof with the tide. Black outs, #3 in the country, nat title on the line, all makes for a let down. I remember last year when bama beat ark in over time and next thing you know gameday is in ttown and all of a sudden bama is going to the SEC championship. perfect place for UGA to come in town and beat us in OT.

my prediction: Javier Arenas kickoff return to take away any black out steam...

Alot of good stuff in there.

I would rather have the O/D line edge to maintain the momentum in the trenches.

Absolutely agree with this.

Yippee yaa oie ki A !

If that happens and Alabama starts the game with 7 and add on my 10 making it 17-0

This play has a high likelihood of winning the cash.

Another thing is that if this game goes to overtime, the points should hold us in good grace.

If Stafford can open up the offense early, it will bode well for my Bulldawgs.

If he is unable to do so, could be a long day... in my black t-shirt!!! :mj07:

ESPN is running with this thing like Stafford has been discovered to have a vagina. Ridiculous!
.................................................................

dawg

another reason I have made this play, is from watching Stafford last year in certain games where the pressure was entirely on his shoulders.

I think you know what I am talking about.

The penalties Georgia has been taking each game, will hurt them big time in this Alabama game.

I dont think Stafford has a vagina , but I think he tends to pussy out at times.

:SIB

Matt Stafford finished 16-of-33 for 174 yards and two touchdowns for Georgia (4-2, 2-2), which had won three straight games but was blown out in this one.

Stafford and the Georgia offense continued to struggle and suffered another 3- and-out on the next possession following the Coker TD, allowing the ball back into Ainge's hands and he guided the Vols to another score.

Stafford went back at it but another three plays yielded yet another Georgia punt -- its sixth in six possessions to that point -- and Tennessee took the ball 65 yards in four plays for the fourth TD of the half.

but they came back and (scored) again," said Stafford. "We have to get ready to play next week. Tennessee did a great job all day."

1. Will Ben Jones get much sleep Friday night?

Arkansas has the nation?s best center in Jonathan Luigs, who last season won the Rimington Award, which goes to the nation?s best player at that position. Last Saturday Luigs was getting help on just about every play and he still had his hands full with Alabama nose tackle Terrence ?Mount? Cody, who is 6-5 and at least 370 pounds. Arkansas had 92 yards rushing on 31 carries. Georgia?s Jones (6-2, 306) is a true freshman who just turned 19 years old. Going up against a grown man like Cody is enough to make anybody nervous. But Jones played at Bibb County High School in Centreville, Ala. And when you chose to leave that state (Ben?s dad attended Georgia) to play elsewhere in the SEC, facing Alabama is a really big deal. A lot of people are going to be watching that matchup because it?s going to be one of the factors that decide the game.

Kick his ass Cody !

Now that SC has lost last night to the Beavers :142smilie

Georgia could lose this game and still be in contention for the National Championship.

How do you lose to a bunch of Beavers.

But the game?s quantum leap in magnitude came late Thursday night from Corvallis, Ore., almost 3,000 miles away, where Oregon State shocked USC, which had been ranked No. 1 in both the Associated Press media and USA Today coaches? polls.

That clears the way for Georgia to move up to No. 1 or 2 in those polls if ? big if ? it beats Alabama. Also, a third poll ? the Harris Poll, one of the elements in ultimately deciding which teams play for the national title ? will announce its first rankings of the season Sunday.

?If Georgia wins, beating a top-10 team, my inclination before seeing the game would be that Georgia would go to No. 1,? Ray Melick, a Harris voter from the Birmingham News, said Friday.

Former Nebraska linebacker Trev Alberts, a sportscaster and Harris voter, is even firmer about the Bulldogs as No. 1: ?No question from my perspective, and no matter how they win, if they win they are No. 1.?

?They?ve got a ton of momentum,? Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford said of Alabama, ?and I feel like we do, too. It?s going to be a battle out there. It?s going to be fun.?

The game will draw Sanford Stadium?s routine capacity crowd of 92,746, hopefully with enough gas in their tanks to get home afterward. Georgia said security will be beefed up as it always is for night games. University police warn fans to be on guard against folks hawking counterfeit tickets.

Although the game has been sold out for months, Georgia?s athletics office continues to get calls seeking tickets. ?The answer,? said Thomas, the associate athletics director for external operations, ?is a polite, ?Thanks for your support, but we can?t give what we don?t have.? ?

Seats were selling online on Friday for $284 to $642 apiece.

The game seems to have everything going for it except this: Larry Munson. The voice of the Bulldogs for 43 years, Munson won?t be at Sanford Stadium after announcing his retirement for health reasons Monday. Munson turns 86 this weekend, and the Georgia crowd will sing happy birthday to him at halftime ? ?extra loud so he can hear it on the radio,? Thomas said.

Everything about this game is extra loud, extra large.
...............................................................

Just seems like alot more pressure now on Georgia's shoulders since USC lost last night.

Advantage Alabama

Just don't understand your logic or money magement. Why not buy to 7.5 and call it a day? You would lay -120 instead of -180???

Did you go to college? Do you understand money management or stats? The more vig, the more it hurts when you lose.

I like Bama getting 10, but won't be shocked if they lose by this amount. Anything can happen and normally does in a football game.

I will say Stafford is a much better QB than Wilson and the home crowd WILL be a Huge Factor.

Destructor. Why insult the guy? He made his post, and is hyping it a little bit but his logic is sound. He simply sees no way of a double digit loss by Alabama. So he bought some points. Sure he might be wrong, it won't be his first time, nor his last if he is.

Career attempts

Stafford 706 for 7.3 yds per att.
JPW 946 for 6.5 yds per att.

2007 QB Rating Stafford 128
2007 QB Rating JPW 114

2008 QB Rating Stafford 152
2008 QB Rating JPW 123

C'mon man. We can discuss who has advantages at certain positions, but lets keep the ridiculus slanting of stats out of it. If you think total yds thrown for = better QB then you have bigger problems then being on the wrong side here:)
