wagering is never easy no matter if you eat the chalk or take the dog.

ask your buddy IXbender, or better yet, look at your own record lately.

I feel good about the Bulldogs this week. There is a big differance in SEC South Carolina defense and what the dogs will see with Arizona St.

gl to you too chipper

It seems simple enough.

FWIW Scott, I completly agree with you on this play. I think State could stay inside the number, but Richt will not allow his team to lose a shot at it all out west

Rudy Carpenter should have a field day passing on Georgias very badd pass defense. Spurrier made Smelley look like a great QB against the Georgia secondary.

Carpenter is leaps and bounds above Smelley and Erickson is not a bad coach himself. Not to mention Georgia commits pass interference on nearly every pass play.

With that said, Az St did lose straight up at home as 25 point favs but they had to be looking ahead to Georgia.

I dont think this will be as easy of a game for Georgia as most think but good luck on your play, they should pull it out.

Arizona St. coach known for ending win streaks
UGA, winner of 10 straight, hopes to avoid Erickson?s wrath
By TIM TUCKER

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

Athens ? Georgia?s football team is on a double-digit winning streak for the first time in a quarter century.

Saturday?s victory at South Carolina was the Bulldogs? 10th in a row, dating to last season ? their longest win streak since they won 11 consecutive games in 1982 with Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker in the backfield and Vince Dooley on the sidelines.

The longest winning streak in UGA football history is 17 in a row, from the middle of the 1945 season through the opener of the 1947 season. Two other times, Georgia won 15 in a row ? once from mid-season 1941 until late-season 1942 and again from the 1979 finale through the second game of 1981.

A win Saturday would match the 1982 streak as the Bulldogs? fourth longest. But it?ll have to come against an Arizona State team whose coach, Dennis Erickson, has a track record of beating teams with long winning streaks.

?I was reading through their media information,? Georgia coach Mark Richt said Tuesday, ?and I saw where he?s been responsible as a coach for stopping three teams that had streaks of 10 or more [wins].?

When Erickson was coaching Miami, the Hurricanes stopped a 23-game Notre Dame winning streak in 1989, a 14-game Florida State winning streak in 1990 and a 16-game FSU winning streak in 1991.

?Now all of a sudden we have hit the magic number 10,? Richt said, ?and I?m sure they are going to bring that up to their team and they will have confidence to stop our streak right now.?

Georgia?s streak is the second longest active winning streak in Division IA, trailing only BYU?s 13 consecutive wins.

Knowing the preseason No. 1 team in the nation was coming to its campus created plenty of hype in Tempe, particularly with the Sun Devils? No. 15 preseason ranking being their highest since 1998. They maintained that position in the Top 25 with relatively easy wins over Northern Arizona and Stanford, but Arizona State was stunned at home by UNLV 23-20 in overtime last Saturday and dropped out of the rankings.

?I don?t know if we should have been in there to start with,? coach Dennis Erickson said.

The loss came against a UNLV team which had just two wins in each of the last four seasons.:SIB

Irvin and the Bulldogs defense appear to be facing their biggest challenge yet. They are second-to-last in the SEC in pass defense, allowing 236.3 yards per game, and are matched against an Arizona State passing offense that leads the Pac-10 (324.7 ypg).

Rudy Carpenter tops the conference with 975 passing yards, a 71.3 completion percentage and a 183.6 quarterback rating.

The Bulldogs could slow down the Sun Devils by getting pressure on Carpenter, but they have only six sacks this season despite having returned nine starters from a defense which led the SEC with 42 last year.

The Sun Devils are 7-9 when Carpenter, a four-year starter, has been sacked more than three times, compared to 19-3 when he isn?t.

Carpenter was only sacked twice last week but he also attempted just 23 passes, his fewest in 13 games. It seems likely he?ll get more chances Saturday after Arizona State rushed 36 times last week - the first time this season it tried more runs than passes - and was held to 3.6 yards per attempt.

?I?m not concerned because I know the character of our team, and I know how they are,? Carpenter said. ?For me, being a leader on this team, I?ve got to make sure that all that negative energy and all the bad feelings they had from last week, hopefully they use that as some type of motivation and, I don?t know, I guess you could say a rally cry to take all that anger out on somebody else.?

What a game against USC last week? Pushed with you... but we were on the right side had a couple plays been exectued correctly.

Like the moneyline play but haven't pulled trigger instead went with the pk with FLorida pk.

I think this week Georgia comes out with a chip on their shoulder to take back what they warrant theirs.

As for Tennesse:

I just can't see Tennesse keeping it close even in KNoxville. If they do, hey, Florida buy 1 pays me...

Best of luck to you and come October we have meet up for a good stogie and a cold one!

UGA suffers another offensive line injury
Starting tackle Tripp limited in practice, but expected to play
By CHIP TOWERS

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Athens ? Earlier this week Georgia coach Mark Richt said there would be changes on the offensive line light of its poor performance against South Carolina. An injury to starting left tackle Kiante Tripp likely will ensure that.

Tripp injured an ankle in Tuesday?s practice. Wearing a green, non-contact jersey, he worked with a trainer Ron Courson on the side for the early part of Wednesday?s practice. Later, however, he was able to join his teammates as they ran plays against the scout team for Saturday?s game against Arizona State.

?He looks good to me,? Richt said of Tripp after Tuesday?s practice. ?Ron anticipates he?ll be on the trip and ready to go.?

Richt said there likely would have been changes regardless. The Gamecocks manhandled Georgia?s offensive line for much of Saturday?s 14-7 victory in Columbia.

If Tripp can?t go, the Bulldogs will likely move guard Vince Vance to left tackle, center Chris Davis to left guard and insert true freshman Ben Jones as starting center. During Wednesday?s practice, it looked as if Clint Boling was getting the majority of reps at right guard and Justin Anderson at right tackle. True freshman Cordy Glenn started the first three games at right guard, and Boling started the past two at right tackle. Glenn could get some looks at left guard.

The Bulldogs are trying to keep whatever they decide to do quiet. Requested interviews with offensive linemen Wednesday were declined.

?We?ll see on Saturday; that?s all I?m saying about the o-line,? offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said. ?The bottom line is, we?ve got to get better up front.?

Georgia lost starting left tackle Trinton Sturdivant to a season-ending knee injury the first week of preseason practice. Tripp had moved to the left side from right tackle to fill the void. So if someone else starts at left tackle, the Bulldogs will be effectively playing a third-stringer there.

Meanwhile, the Sun Devils feature one of the best pass rushers in America in right defensive end Dexter Davis. The 6-2, 252-pounder from Phoenix had 10.5 sacks last season and 16.5 over the previous two years. The other defensive end, senior Luis Vasquez, is also very good.

?I think we have four guys that can go out there [at tackle] and function,? Richt said. ?I?m not saying they?re as good as Trinton. Trinton was starting for a reason. But I?m thinking any one of our guys would need help with Davis. We?ll probably do it by committee.?

?Q? a week away

Safety Quintin Banks, known to his teammates as ?Q,? was running around without obvious limitations in a green, non-contact injury Wednesday. But the redshirt freshman said it will probably be next week before he comes back from a knee injury that sidelined him in the preseason.

?I?m praying for a miracle, but it doesn?t look good for this week,? Banks said. ?I should be back next week.?

Banks was backing up both the strong and free safety positions we he went down the second week of preseason practice. Former walk-on Andrew Williams has been getting most of the backup work.

Tight end Bruce Figgins was held out of contact Wednesday because of a shoulder injury. He will play Saturday. ? Georgia?s record in non-conference games under Richt is 32-2.
.................................................................

There is no doubt that the Bulldogs have had injuries to some top players.

But they are good enough to beat Arizona St:00hour

Georgia wants to up A.J. Green?s touches
Stafford: Freshman receiver has ?a lot of skills that can help out?
By CHIP TOWERS

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Athens ? Georgia clearly wants to get the ball more to freshman receiver A.J. Green, but wanting and doing are two different things.

?There?s certain plays you can try to direct to a player,? coach Mark Richt said. ?Most of our plays have a progression to them, and some coverages sort of dictate who?s the first progression, second and third. You can call more plays that have a better chance of him getting it, and every once in a while you can have a few plays where you say it?s either him or nothing.?

Green was considered one of the top wide receiver prospects in America when he signed with Georgia out of Summerville, S.C. Though it?s second on the team, he has caught only eight passes in three games for 141 yards and a touchdown. He had three for a season-high 61 yards against South Carolina.

That?s not enough.

?He?s a good player. Got a lot of skills that can help out our offense,? quarterback Matthew Stafford said. ?We?ve just gotta find ways to get him the ball and let him do what he does.?

Expect to see more of Logan Gray returning punts. The redshirt freshman and third-string quarterback has been back deep in each of Georgia?s first three games, along with cornerback Asher Allen, free safety Reshad Jones and tailback Knowshon Moreno.

While Gray has the fewest returns for the least amount of yards (1-7) Richt likes what he has seen from him.

?You?re looking for guys that are fresh,? Richt said. ?Logan is the one guy who should have plenty of energy, and that helps him make good judgments.?

The other three players all man starting positions.

Gray, who hadn?t returned punts since ninth grade in high school, said he?s happy to help. ?They came to me about it right before preseason practice started,? he said. ?They asked me if I?d be interested in playing some more positions. I said whatever they had in mind, I?d be down for.?

..............................................................

Moreno to run roughshod all night long.

I know your bet is in scott but for all others, Richt has essentially said that they will play a lot of people in the first half as to not get anyone tired, and then load up in the second half when it is supposed to be cooler. This strategy would seem to set up well for a first half ASU bet. I think they pull away late but ASU in the first might be something to look at. GL to us scott

BOTTOM LINE..................

Is winning.........no matter how u do it

I will never understand why losing by 1/2 a point is better than winning on a Money Line.
Somebody once posted the M Line % of winners that are favored by 10 points or more on Home Turf!!
It was substantial.

Not a big fan of "any" rd favs but this one seems the right side!!!

I have em Str up in a teaser too...........see u on Victory Lane....................I'll be the Guy w the Blonde and the Cohiba...........
