I used to live in Ghana, so I was in support of them since the start of the WC, and after watching them play twice I REALLY like their team. Like you said, they play hard... Their goalie Kingson has some of the nicest saves that I've seen in any world cup game so far. And their fans are great! GO GHANA

Ghana 2-1

0-0 Draw.

Ghanna does not need to win this game. A draw will most likely move them along, since they beat the Czechs.

Remember they lost thier 2 top strikers for this game as they are suspended due to getting 2 yellows. This is not easily replaced unless you are an Argentina, Brazil or France....

Ghanna will play not to lose.

Not True.

If Ghanna ties they will have 4 points.

1. If Italy wins: Italy will have 7 pts and Chech will have 3 Ghanna would advance

2. If Chech wins: Chech will have 6 pts and Italy will have 4 that would tie Ghanna. Ghanna would lose due to the head 2 head (they lost to Italy).

3. Tie: Chech advances with goal diff.

Ghanna will play to win. Italy will be the one playing for the tie.

ok
now i am confused
can we get some clarification
will Ghana play to win or tie

All teams play to win, especially in the early going.

BUT If they see Italy up in their game the game plan will change. They will know all they would only need a draw to advance.

The Italy/CZE is the key game.

I had to break it down for myself to see...... correct me if I'm wrong...

If Italy wins, they will advance no matter who wins the other match
If Italy draw, they will advance no matter who wins the other match
If Italy loses, they can still advance with a Ghana draw or loss, unless the US wins and outscores their goal differential

If CZ wins, they will advance no matter who wins the other match
If CZ draws, they will advance IF Ghana loses or draws
If CZ loses, they will NOT advance

PRESSURE ON CZ - they want to WIN

If Ghana wins, they will advance no matter who wins the other match
If Ghana draws, they will advance IF Italy wins
If Ghana loses, they will NOT advance

WIN IS BEST - BUT A DRAW DOES NOT MEAN ELIMINATION

If US wins, they will advance only IF Italy wins the game (CZ holds tiebreaker)
If US loses or draws, they will NOT advance

You know I need to look up the FIFA rules.

I just kinda remember that H2H is like the 4th tiebreaker not the 1st.

I think Goal differential might supercede H2H, which makes no sense at all, but that means it is even more likely to correct when dealing with FIFA.

If that is the case....A CZE draw & a Ghana draw would result in CZE advancing which Blazer pointed out in his post.

Let me double check this.....

Yes - I think Blazer is correct after all...

When teams are tied on points in the group standings the following tiebreakers will apply:

1. Highest goal difference
2. Most goals for
3. Result of group match between the teams
4. Drawing of lots

CZ has 3 GF 2 GA
Ghana has 2 GF 2 GA

so if they both draw, then CZ would advance - so Ghana really does need to win, or have Italy win...

Well then I stand corrected & Ghanna will be going all out....still dont think they have much firepower left though, & the CZE knows this as well.....the probability of an Italia/Czech draw is very high.

Has scenario 4 (Drawing of lots) ever happened in WC history?

Not sure but in Group B(playing now) if England beats Sweden 2-0 & T&T beats Paraguay 1-0, I think the scenario would occur & they will have to draw lots.

BLACK STARS SHINE AGAIN TODAY

Here is why it is more exciting to me to have Ghana advance to the next round than the US - from a blogger in Accra after the Czech game:

LIMISI DABIRE, ACCRA, GHANA, SATURDAY 1755 GMT FULL TIME - CZECH REPUBLIC 0-2 GHANA

We are so excited now!

The party has started.

I told you we are the history makers, and now we are making history.

The way we are feeling now we're sure we'll thrash the USA, we are going to make them look like schoolboys.

Everyone is jumping around, dancing and singing.

People have come out of their houses, and are driving around in their cars honking the horns. Everywhere you look you can see people waving the Ghana flag.

There is so much noise and excitement, you cannot believe!

I've never been so happy in all my life. And I think a lot of people feel the same.

We are going to party right through the night. I think the churches are going to be half-full tomorrow because people won't be able to get up.

I have to go now and join the dancing, and the party!

Our excitement over this event here is nonexistent in comparison, so at least someone deserves to party - and Ghanaians really know how to party... Even their funeral celebrations go on for days, so imagine what kind of party they are having after defeating the US.

It was a controversial penalty kick to win, but even if the game was a draw Ghana would have advanced, so they earned the right to play Brazil... really sucks that Essien is out for the Brazil game - I think Ghana needs his leadership and skillz on the field. GO GHANA
